Just a few short years ago, Chris Brown was the most-hated man on the planet.

At the Grammy Awards, he beat up his then-girlfriend, fellow pop star Rihanna. In the end, the judge gave Brown probation and ordered him to stay away from her.

But now, it looks like the two are a couple again. On Twitter this past week, Brown wished her a happy birthday and a song with the two's voices together appeared on the web. Many feel that the match made in hell is making a big comeback despite the torture Rihanna got from Chris.

Rihanna's probable reuniting with Brown does have many asking why, but then again, the two are young and have a lot to learn. True, Brown grew up with an abusive stepfather who constantly beat up his mother, that's no excuse to beat up any woman.

Sometimes, I can only wonder why women act like this. There's millions of good guys like me out there, and yet, they choose to be with an abusive pile of horseshit. I think what's tragic is that in my lifetime, I've only dated two women, and they both ended up being total bitches to me. One avoided me like the plague and another was an ugly, fat trailer trash ho that did nothing but use me financially.

You see, I'm trying. I've did the bar scene, and I was a face in the crowd. I've even started using the web to get dates, and that's not working, either. I've only met one girl that I've met online, and she was not only a total pig, but she proved to me that she just wasn't all that intelligent. Yeah, there's church, but as somebody who can't stand organized religion, it ain't gonna happen.

But'cha know? I'm not alone. I have an uncle that's the same way, too. He's lived all across the country and claims that here in Michigan, women just flat-out don't care, period. They don't want to meet you, they just want to chat and hang out with their circle of friends. My uncle said that a man like me should get dates anywhere but here in Michigan. But since I'm 31, I'd like to move on. I want to meet the love of my life, get married and have kids. But it ain't gonna happen when women would rather date some unemployed loser over somebody like me.

Look, I might live in a crappy apartment, but at least I don't live off mommy and daddy's tit. I work, but when I need extra money, I find ways to get it. Yes, I'm no rich dork, but at least I do have enough to live on and budget myself. My job sucks, but at least I'm not unemployed. I don't have a six pack, but I don't have more chins than a Chinese phone book, either.

Nobody's perfect, folks. When I date a woman, I won't expect her to be a 10, either. Hell, Bo Derek's a frickin' Republican ferchissakes! I plan for my future. If I can get a woman that I really, really like, I'll do my damndest to treat her like a queen. No Chris Brown bullshit. Christ, I'd treat her like a Teddy Bear and snuggle next to her at all times. I don't have ANY friends in real life, so she would be priority one for me.

But, no. Women love bad boys. They like to get their ass kicked just because of only God knows what. Just ask Claire Sinclair, the Playboy Playmate who was dating Hugh Hefner's son, Marston. In an interview, Sinclair talked about Marston beating her up. She claimed that Marston was off his meds and while the two were talking about absolutely nothing, he attacked her out of nowhere. Now, I do wonder, if Marston WASN'T a Hefner if Claire would even date the guy. Who knows? After all, he's got the keys to daddy's empire.

Look, I'm in no hurry to get married. Hell, it's OK to have kids in your 40's and later. TV talker Steve Wilkos didn't become a dad until he was 39. David Letterman waited until he was 56. Christ, the late great Tony Randall was 75 when he became a dad for the first time. It's never too late to have kids. I think that love takes time, and that in order to have a decent relationship, BOTH need to have a good sense of maturity. Both my parents met in a bar at the dawn of the disco era in their early 20's, and neither seemed to mature the right way. They divorced when I was just 12 and in many cases, I was the one paying for their mistakes.

Like I said, I'm in no hurry to get married, and I shouldn't be. I would love to have a relationship with a woman, but in these times, it may never happen. If I'm in my 40's and a woman my age comes to me with her kids, begging me for a relationship, it'll never happen. I'm not going to be somebody else's babydaddy. Don't bitch at me with your problems. If you want a friendship from me, grow up first.

But otherwise, I'll be right here waiting.

Dear Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd, it's neither Duck Season or Wabbit Season.

It's Election Season, sadly.

Less than a week from now, the Repukes will have their election here in Michigan to determine who will be the Republican nominee for president, and as usual, the mud's sure slinging while the average voter could care less, judging by Rick Santorum's ad where he portrays Willard "Mitt" Romney as a Rambo-like character shooting mud at paper images of Romney.

Or is that, shall I say, POO? Or even worse, SANTORUM? (For those who don't know already, Santorum is the self lubricant that's made during anal sex.)

Of the four candidates running, I mostly see ads for Willy and Ricky. I have not seen one ad for Newt Gingich or even (gasp) Ron Paul (he's still in the race? I'll be dipped). It's a given that Willard will win Michigan, especially since he's a Detroiter, plus his father once led the long-failed American Motors. He and Santorum are neck-and-neck poll-wise nationwide, but Willard will have that Michigan edge.

But guess what? BOTH CANDIDATES ADS DO NOTHING TO ATTRACT MIDDLE CLASS VOTERS! DUH! The only ad I care about is Santorum's 'Mitt shooting poo' ad, but otherwise, Santorum tends to attract both right-wing and Christian voters by quoting the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh in his ads. Plus, he mentions that he's pro-life in his ads. Willard, OTOH, talks about reducing government spending, and the first thing he'd get rid of is Obamacare.

*COUGH*ROMNEYCARE*COUGH*ROMNEYCARE*COUGH*

But there's something that neither Willard, nor Rick, nor Newt or especially Ron Paul will ever have: and that's the 2012 presidency. Right now, President Obama's approval rating is at 50% and Americans are back to work. Hell, I had my first job interview in years a few weeks ago! Under the Bush administration, everybody was lucky to even have a job. Today, many Americans who felt the wrath of Bush politics are happy to find new jobs under Obama. Plus, GM - a company that damn near died because of Bush - is the most-profitable car company on Earth again. The only problem with GM now is that their Buicks are huge sellers in China - a country where at one time, owning a car was a luxury - and it's jacking up gas prices. But, that's one sad price we all must pay. Even worse, as much as Obama was trying to help alternative energy companies like Solyndra, even that backfired. True, Obama's far from perfect, but then again, is there a president who ever was?

Personally, I'd rather have a president in the White House crooning the blues and Al Green over a dumbass like Bush playing guitar with some redneck Country music star while New Orleans drowns. Our country can no longer afford the wrath of the Republican party sending jobs overseas while Americans drown in deep debt flipping burgers while having to drive 50 miles one way to the McDonald's that hired them while gas prices are near $4 per gallon. Let's steer clear of the hype and look forward.

In the end, the Repukes will face the wrath of Obama's santorum (not like he does that, AFAWK).

Yes, even Lorne Michaels can smile.... Barely.

Maybe it's because he's giving his show a shot of Linsanity, but not the good basketball playing kind.

But last weekend, he gave me and other viewers of SNL a heart attack when it was announced that the next new episode of his beloved show's host would be none other than Lindsay Lohan, her first time hosting the show in five years. Her career had been taking a turn for the worse during this time thanks to her mounting legal problems, but claiming that the worst is behind her, she personally decided to ask Lorne herself if she could host the program. Without any aide of an agent, Lorne felt some weird sympathy for her and kindly accepted.

Lindsay will host the host on March 3rd - the day after original cast member Laraine Newman's 60th birthday - and the musical guest will be Jack White. This Saturday's show is a repeat from November.

Of course, Lorne's no stranger to making bad hosting decisions, especially musically. Remember a long-forgotten pop star known as Ashlee Simpson? Um, yeah. She damn near killed the show's reputation when she lip synched her performance on the show many years ago. She blamed her band, but nope, she had to have a backing track. Of course, Lorne was nice enough to have her back on the show to sing for real this time, but it was too little too late.

Recently, some even bashed Lorne musically again with the decision to have virtually unknown pop star Lana Del Rey on the show. Many critics attacked her style of singing as flat and dull, but Lorne won that battle since her latest album is selling pretty well.

Undoubtedly, LiLo's SNL appearance will get good numbers because she's turned into a car accident. Even though it's not nice to look at it, you just can't resist looking anyway. Hell, I still wonder how her twat-less Playboyissue sold. Oh, well, there's hotter women out there on more-revealing FREE porn sites anyway. But anywhom, it won't shock me if this will be her final SNL appearance, because she needs to do her lines.

And I'm not talking about lines on a script, either.

Former WKLT jock Finster to head mornings at Bob 104.5

Former KLT morning man to be new morning man for 104.5 Bob FM

Only a few months after getting fired as 1/2 of WKLT 97.5/98.9's morning show in Traverse City, Finster is getting back on his feet.

It's been reported that Omelette's ex-partner is going to be the new morning man at Variety Hits WZTC 104.5 Bob FM in March. The 1,250-watt station doesn't have the signal other northern Michigan stations have, and it doesn't stream online (and its "website" is their Facebook page), but it sounds like owners MacDonald-Garber - who also owns 106 KHQ, Lite 96 and a few others - have picked up an opportunity to capitalize on KLT's loss.

KLT reportedly canned Omelette just days after Christmas 2011 for unknown reasons. However, given KLT's history of firing morning jocks, budgetary reasons were probable. Many critics of KLT and Omelette's show claim that without Finster, Omelette is just flat-out boring. Without a doubt, the war between Omelette and Finster will only be interesting.

IN OTHER NORTHERN MICHIGAN RADIO NEWS: WTCM-AM GETS WALL STREET NIGHTS: WTCM 580 is now airing The Daily Wrap from The Wall Street Journal 9p-12m on a three-hour delay. The show replaces Lou Dobbs' radio program, which he personally canceled. Also, the station has cut ties with ABC News Radio and is now airing news updates from Fox News Radio. WTCM also airs WSJ's morning report 5-7 a.m., giving the Rupert Murdoch-owned news rag five hours of air time daily.

Last weekend, a few folks in Wyoming, MI, near Grand Rapids learned what a burning New Jersey flag smells like.

John Burri, whose 20-year-old Army Specialist son Eric was killed by an IED in Iraq in 2005 burned the flag in protest to its governor. Chris Christie honored fallen pop star Whitney Houston by ordering all flags in his state lowered last weekend. Houston, a Newark native died over a week ago and her funeral was held at the church she grew up in, New Hope Baptist in Newark.

Burri felt that Christie's honoring of Houston was nothing short of inappropriate, especially since his fallen son died for this country while Houston supposedly died of a drug overdose.

"She was a great singer. That's true and I won't deny that. But lowering the flag is for somebody that has given their life and service to their country. Our son was killed in Iraq June 7th of 2005. This just opened the wound again, hearing about this," said Burri to local NBC affiliate WOOD-TV. "If I was a person from the State of New Jersey, I would be embarrassed. I would be ashamed. I would tell that Governor to get out of office. That's just wrong, just wrong."

Christie, who has more chins than a Chinese phone book stood by his decision to keep flags lowered, stating "What I would say to everybody is there but for the grace of God go I." However, many are claiming on Facebook and Twitter that Christie's honor wasn't necessary. After all, Houston's career was marred with drug addiction and a stormy relationship with Bobby Brown that ultimately killed her career.

As I posted on Facebook and Twitter this past weekend, when Kurt Cobain died in 1994, did Washington state lower their flags for the Nirvana frontman? Nope. I don't think Indiana did the same for Michael Jackson, either. Both singers - like Whitney - battled drug problems that ultimately ended their lives. Yet, Whitney was no different from the two.

What Chris Christie did was compare a burned-out druggie to our men and women who died for this great country. Personally, I hope that this will be his sole term in office. Maybe the run-off from the chemical plants in Newark fucked his brains up.

Republicans and our troops: a lousy combo.

For those who've never watched a movie from the 1930's, let me let you in on the first black man in Hollywood who made over a million bucks. After all, it is Black History Month for another two weeks.

Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry was a character actor who used the stage name "Stepin Fetchit". His persona was simple: act lazy on camera. After all, his nickname was "The Laziest Man in the World". He would play low-income-earners like janitors, servants or even cooks. While doing so, he would talk slow and use vernacular doing so, making him sound like somebody with an IQ below room temperature.

Needless to say, black leaders, such as the NAACP attacked him for insulting people of his own race. After all, the studios all paid him over a million bucks to pull his schtick. But, he ended up bankrupt and his career was dead after World War II.

Now, there's a woman who was carrying the Stepin Fetchit torch until she actually did her research. Her name is Lisa Chan, an Asian actress from California who was asked by the people running former Michigan congressman Pete Hoekstra's campaign for senator to portray a Chinese woman thanking current Michigan junior senator Debbie Stabinow for giving her people jobs and money.

The controversial commercial aired Super Bowl Sunday on Michigan NBC affiliates to very negative reviews for its inaccurate portrayal of Asians. Hoekstra's campaign even launched a now-closed website using Chan's image and even images of China to claim that Stabinow is a friend to China while Michigan suffers.

Now, Chan is recanting her role. On her Facebook page, she states:

"I am deeply sorry for any pain that the character I portrayed brought to my communities. As a recent college grad who has spent time working to improve communities and empower those without a voice, this role is not in any way representative of who I am. It was absolutely a mistake on my part and one that, over time, I hope can be forgiven. I feel horrible about my participation and I am determined to resolve my actions."

Personally, I know that Chan's a young woman who just didn't know any better. Therefore, I'm happy that she apologized and realized the err of her actions.

However, the ad was nothing more than a way for Hoekstra to lose the election in November. Using racism and hypocrisy won't get him anywhere. Yes, he'll get the AM talk radio fanatics, but in the end, Pete's toast. Bear in mind that I called him a hypocrite because he helped bail out Wall St. in 2008. Remember when pRick Snyder used the 2010 Super Bowl to win the governorship of Michigan? Ain't gonna happen with Hoekstra.

Talk about a chink in the armor.

Too bad the woman on the cover is part of a family that's known for destroying American jobs. Meet 19 year old Kate Upton. She was born in St. Joseph in deep southwest Michigan but was raised in Florida. Her great grandfather founded a little company I think you might have heard of called Whirlpool. You know, the company that makes refrigerators and washers and dryers? Yep, that's the one. Even though Whirlpool is still based in nearby Benton Harbor, the jobs are long gone. Over the years, Whirlpool moved their operations to other countries, such as Mexico. Today, Benton Harbor, population 10,000 is a town that's seen better days while its twin town, St. Joe - Kate's birthplace - is the home of slightly over 8,000 whiteys. Of course, the twin towns saw some controversy last year when newly-elected governor pRick Snyder decided that one of his best ways to save this great state is to don some invading. One of his victims is none other than Benton Harbor. Last year, the state announced that they were basically letting go of the city's elected officials - mayor included - and replacing them with an emergency fund manager. So, the city is pretty much now under the former Gateway Computer CEO's aegis, and it ain't pretty. There was even word that they even wanted to eliminate a public park there and replace it with a country club. Oh, and one of the people involved in the plan? Kate's uncle Fred, who is a congressman with a proud (R) after his name. Basically put, they want to replace all of the now-abandoned Whirlpool plants with parts of the club as well. Simply put, there's a probable connection between SI (whose parent company is TimeWarner, who also owns CNN, Warner Bros., TBS and HBO to name a few) and the Upton clan, fast-tracking Kate to super-stardom. Bear in mind too that Kate was also their "Rookie of the Year" last year. Who knows? I think that Cindy Crawford mole's not the sole reason why she's on the cover for their swimsuit issue this year. But also, I think there's another good reason for a woman with Republican connections gracing the SI swimsuit cover: to show the Religious Right that they're also on their side. For years, many religious groups like the Michigan-based American Decency Association have marred SI for basically trying to be like Playboy. After all, their body paint pictorials do technically show nudity (and all of their models are totally shaved as a requirement and to pervs like me, a plus). Since Kate's Uncle Fred is pro-life and anti-gay, that makes him on the same page as the religious wackos. In the end, I think the fact that Kate's family has some scratch helped her easily land on the front cover on that magazine. While there's thousands of young models trying to find work and not getting it, Kate got it easily even though the families that once built Whirlpool washers can no longer afford them. I think SI should have thought things over before pasting a rich girl who never had to eat a ramen noodle in her life on their swimsuit edition cover. First off, the Chuck69.com Valentine's Day Massacre has been called off. The reason? I'm kinda in a good mood for now. Maybe in due time, it'll come...

But in the meantime, it's time to take out a piece of trash that has been stinking up Congress for quite some time, and that's the great congresswoman - er, lyin' ass bitch (thank you, Roots) known as Michele Bachmann. Recently, Howard Stern made a comment about Bachmann on his radio show, calling her and presidential candidate Rick Santorum "the two worst human beings on earth".

However, Bachmann released an e-mail statement to the three people that still care about her, and it went like this:

"To conservatives, this message from Howard Stern, a man whose only contribution to our culture was years of corrupting America’s youth on public airwaves, was clear: “either abandon your beliefs and agree with me, or be dragged through the mud and demonized on national radio.” I don’t accept this false choice, and I know you don’t either.

While Stern can say anything he wants on satellite radio, his words have an impact on his millions of listeners as well as the people his listeners talk to, which is why I need your help to counteract with our positive message. We must fight back and maintain our focus on what is important.

These are serious times, and our nation faces serious issues. The direction that America is headed requires serious discussion by serious people, and Howard Stern is not a serious person. We cannot allow attacks from him or anybody else to distract us from a laser focus on what is truly important: holding President Obama and his Democratic allies accountable for their mortgaging of our future. I know you share my determination and, with your help, our message of prosperity for our nation’s future will drown out the noise of their attacks."

Rough translation: give me your money.

Howard trashed Bachmann and Santorum on his show because of the two's hatred towards the LGBT community. Bear in mind that Michele's husband created that clinic to "pray away the gay", which is absurd because there's no known discussions on homosexulaity in the Bible. It's nothing more than right-winged backwash.

If there's anybody to "pray away", it's Bachmann and Santorum. Remember, Obama's going to get a second term. Howard is probably the only talker that gets it that has a wide audience because he - like the gays - was an outcast growing up. Michele's always been a rich bitch and needs to put a sock in it.

Another reason why I love my Sirius.

If you've been hiding under a rock all weekend, let me say this now:

Whitney Houston died Saturday night at the age of 48. No cause of death is known at this point, although the police have found pills in her hotel room. Houston was staying at the Beverly Hills Hilton, where she was to perform at the Grammys yesterday.

Instead, during the show, tributes poured. Many celebs Tweeted and sent tributes to the fallen pop star, including Dolly Parton, who wrote her mega-hit "I Will Always Love You" originally for her friend Porter Wagoner, who introduced her to the world on his long-running TV show. Parton's version of the song was a hit on the Country charts twice - 1974 and a re-record in 1982 - but for many, it was Houston's signature song since she made it a worldwide phenom.

Whitney was always considered a good girl, singing in her mother's choir and living her life as a Christian. After being discovered by Arista Records founder Clive Davis in the early 1980's, she signed with him and in 1985, she had her first hit with "You Give Good Love", which made it to #3 on the Billboard pop charts. Her next single, "Saving All My Love For You" went straight to #1.

In her career, Whitney had 11 #1 Billboard hits on the pop chart and sold over 170 million albums worldwide. However, her last #1 hit came in 1995 with "Exhale" and the hits dried up. For years, Whitney drifted into a world of drugs, booze and Bobby Brown.

The two met at the Soul Train Music Awards in 1989 (ironic, since Don Cornelius died just 13 days ago) and married in 1992. The two divorced in 2007 after years of problems, and Whitney tried to stage a comeback. Sadly, the magic was gone. She was to play the Grammys this weekend, but it wasn't meant to be.

Houston did date a lot of men more eligible than Brown, such as Eddie Murphy. The travesty regarding Houston and Brown's relationship was simple: Brown was a bad boy while Houston was a goody-two-shoes. Why Houston saw something in Brown is something one would ever want to know, like Ike and Tina or Rihanna and Chris Brown. But, that's life.

True, the death of Whitney Houston is sad, but in a way, I'm not totally 100% sad she's gone. When I was young, my parents divorced and my Mom and I moved in with her best friend, a fat cunt who looked like Divine from the John Waters movies. One reason why my Mother left my Dad was because so she could live with her and help her out financially since she was in tremendous credit card debt and on the verge of getting kicked out of her house. One of my unfortunate memories of her was that she played the goddamned Bodyguard soundtrack day in and day out while she *allegedly* sucked guys' cocks down in her bedroom. I was just 12 at the time, and looking back, I wished I could have ran out of there and never looked back.

Nonetheless, Whitney conquered the world in only 48 years. Yes, it's sad to see her go, but sadly, she allowed Bobby Brown to fuck her life up. It's sad that there's men like me who have problems getting dates, and have never done anything wrong to ANY woman, ever. In the end, Whitney paid the price while the man who led her to her sick lifestyle gets to live. That's life. I wouldn't doubt if she OD'd, possibly on painkillers. We won't know for weeks.

If you're a woman fighting breast cancer, in the past few weeks, you're learning that those pink ribbons, pink shirts, pink this and pink that ain't helping to find a cure to your disease.

Instead, it's making it worse.

Starting late last year, Susan G. Komen For the Cure, the country's largest breast cancer research organization, ended funding for embryonic stem cell research and last week, the organization stopped funding Planned Parenthood. Many are feeling that Komen is ending the funding due to political reasons, especially since their senior vice president for public policy was Karen Handel, a Republican who once ran for governor of Georgia. The reason for Komen and PP's relationship was because PP provides mammograms and Komen helped 170,000 women over five years get those exams. However, Handel had said for years that she would not support PP's mission, which includes, yep, abortions.

Last Tuesday, Komen announced that they would no longer fund PP, a move that has angered long time supporters of the organization. After the announcement, $400,000 was raised in only 24 hours by 6,000 donors, with $250,000 coming from New York mayor Michael Bloomberg. Just a few days later, Komen announced that they were going to restore funding for PP. Handel resigned from her position on Monday.

The organization was founded in 1982 and is still run by Nancy Goodman Brinker, who named it after her sister, who died from the disease in 1980 at the age of 36. Surprise! Brinker is a Republican. Not to mention, wealthy.

You see, if there's any good care for breast cancer, it's stem cell research. It's amazing that an organization like Komen acts like a pro-women's group and yet, they diss another pro-women's group only because they support a woman's right to choose. If a woman chooses to have an abortion, it should be her right to donate her dead fetus to help her fellow women. Then again, men get breast cancer too; just ask game show announcer Rod Roddy and NFL player Ernie Green.

You know, I agree that it's sad when a woman has to give up her unborn child, whether it's due to any reason like if she's raped or if she cannot afford to have the child. But, it's even more sobering when a right-winged boob tells a woman "sucks to be you" and makes her suffer. Yeah, there's adoption, but what if the kid is adopted by some abusive jerks? What if they never get adopted and end up raised by the system? Sadly, it happens. Personally, I'd rather have that kid die to help those with a quality of life instead of being a waste to society.

Thankfully, Planned Parenthood has a breast cancer fund. If I ever donated, I would donate to them over Komen and their rightest policies. People need to do their research before they donate to ANY organization. Komen spends more money on paying their employees than on actual treatment. SAD!

What Komen did to PP was colder... than a witches tit.

A few days ago, we talked about the worst ad that aired during the Super Bowl (or at least here in Grand Rapids, before the big game): an ad that only aired here in Michigan for foormer Michigan congressman Pete Hoekstra that showed a young Asian woman pulling a Stepin Fetchit.

But today, we're going to talk about the BEST ad that aired during the Super Bowl, at least to us Michiganders still trying to get over the big economic collapse that damn near killed the state and the automobile industry.

And yes, it's this ad:

Without a doubt, Clint Eastwood - who shot his 2008 hit Gran Torino in the Motor City - made Michigan's day on Sunday when he delivered his inspirational message in that two-minute ad, "Halftime in America". True, Eastwood lives in California, the ad makes it feel that Eastwood had adopted Detroit as his home town and made it feel that the long-ailing city is making a huge comeback.

But leave it up to one of Dubya's butt buddies to piss in Detroit's recovery candles.

Former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to President Bush Karl Rove attacked the ad, claiming that they were propaganda to President Obama's bailout to the automakers in 2009. However, Eastwood, a lifelong Republican, claimed that the ad was mainly a-political and was simply supportive of a secotr of manufacturing that has been abused for years.

But like Reagan's "Morning in America" ad in 1984, the ad was designed to revive America's trust in automobile manufacturing, and compared ourselves to just a few years ago when GM was thisclose to ceasing to exist. After all, if Republicans hate anything, it's Detroit, one of the last true union towns in America.

Folks, if there's one state that the Repukes hate, it's Michigan. Presidents Reagan and Bushes I and II alongside Governors Engler and currently Snyder have all seemed to work together - at least through spirit - to turn this once great state into nothing more than a hellhole that's the only state to lose population in the naughties. This state will fight to the finish to keep in the unions and fight corrupt bosses who care more about their paychecks than their replaceable employees.

Next to watching Howard Stern hosing morons trying to sing "Moves Like Jagger" and maybe the MetLife ad that brought back Saturday morning memories, this was the best ad to air this past Sunday. Sadly, I only saw the second half of it since I was busy pouring a shot of Jameson when it aired (damn do I love the internet), but I'll tell ya what, nobody can do it like Eastwood.

As for Rove, he needs to shut up. This is the moron who helped Bush win his disastrous second term in office and screwed over America by revealing Valarie Plame's identity. He needs to keep his goddamned mouth shut. The auto bailout was successful and auto workers in Michigan and elsewhere still have jobs, plus, there's new factories being built all over.

Karl Rove: a man who needs to run out into an intersection and get hit by a Chevy.

Yep, I knew it would happen.

Last Sunday, millions around the world watched the biggest spectacle in sports: the 46th Super Bowl. As usual, they had to give us a halftime show nobody would ever soon forget, and they were right.

Yes, I sat through Madonna's open-leg-infested mini-concert, which was loaded with cameos from LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Cee-Lo Green and making a big comeback, M.I.A. Remember M.I.A.? She was the Sri Lankin chick who gave us the tune "Paper Planes" from a few years back. You know? It was the tune with the chorus "All I wanna do is (gunshot blasts) and (cash register sound) and take your money." That tune was everywhere. Well, she disappeared for a while, and she told the world that she was back during the halftime show...

...By flipping everybody the bird.

If you've been hiding under a rock, here's the dilly-o: during the Halftime show, Madonna performed her latest hit, "Give Me Your Luvin'" and during the song, M.I.A. did a rap. At the end of her part, up went her finger. Apparently, the NBC censor didn't hit the delay in time, and millions of Americans got to see M.I.A.'s finger followed with a wide shot of the stage with a split second of the whole screen getting blurred.

Not long after the end of the big game, NBC and the NFL both apologized for the M.I.A. Bird, and yes, they ended up pointing fingers at each other. NBC claimed that it was the NFL's fault because they booked the artists, but the NFL cried that NBC had to do their job to censor any material that will offend.

Say no more, here's the Parents Television Council!

Yep! The PTC's president, Tim Winter released a statement on the organization's website:

“NBC fumbled and the NFL lied because a performer known as M.I.A. felt it necessary to flip off millions of families. It is unfortunate that a spectacular sporting event was overshadowed once again by broadcasting the selfish acts of a desperate performer.

“Last week the NFL formally told the PTC – and the American public – that the Super Bowl halftime show would be ‘appropriate.’ Most families would agree that the middle finger aimed directly at them is not appropriate, especially during the most-watched television event of the year.

“The mechanism NBC had in place to catch this type of material completely failed, and the network cannot say it was caught off guard. It has been eight years since the Janet Jackson striptease, and both NBC and the NFL knew full well what might happen. They chose a lineup full of performers who have based their careers on shock, profanity and titillation. Instead of preventing indecent material, they enabled it. M.I.A. used a middle finger shamelessly to bring controversial attention to herself, while effectively telling an audience filled with children, ‘F–you.’

“A simple apology rings hollow after yet another slap in the face to families, especially when NBC has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that it should be allowed to air all manner of indecent material at any time of day, even when children are watching.

“Either the NFL and NBC will take immediate steps to hold those accountable for this offensive material in front of a hundred million Americans, or they will feebly sit back and do nothing. The nation – and the PTC – is watching.”

Bear in mind that it was the PTC who made things worse for Janet Jackson when Justin Timberlake yanked off her bustier during the 2004 Halftime show. The FCC received some 3,000 complaints regarding the performance and slammed CBS with a fine. Now, the Supreme Court is close to revealing their verdict on the situation. So far, the courts have ruled against the FCC, especially since nudity isn't really considered indecency.

Because of right-winged assholes like the PTC, American television is still way behind that of other nations. Fuck, 1970's soap operas from Australia have naked boobs! Full-frontal nudity's all over British telly! Why do people here in America hate nudity? Simple: the religious reich has scared Americans into thinking that sex is bad. Period. They have money, and since in their minds they're best buds with Jebus, they tell people that they're in front of the line to get into Heaven when they kick the bucket. OK, name me a word in the Bible that's considered "inappropriate". Thought so.

Look. Ya wanna know where I learned the middle finger? It's not from a movie, and it's not from a TV show or even a song. I learned to flip the bird.... AT SCHOOL! It was in the 4th Grade, and my teacher was out of the room. Some fellow student was harassing me, and another student told me to flip that person the bird. I didn't know what it was, and when my teacher came back, I was snitched on, and was whisked away to the principal. I remember even asking why I was in trouble, and they didn't tell me. I had to give the teacher a written apology.

So, after reading about my sad little melee, do you think that the PTC will go to our nation's elementary schools to scream at kids for swearing? I think not. As a matter of fact, I learned other swears at school.

The PTC has to realize a few things: 1) they're not even popular. They only have 12,000 *alleged* members! Christ, there's more people in my old hometown of Traverse City, MI - considered a "small town" - than PTC members! And 2) if people want "family friendly" TV, what happened to the PAX Network? Sorry, but America has spoken. Most parents swear in front of their kids as-is, and a lot of it's because most Americans speak two languages: English and profanity.

In the end, the PTC is nothing more than a group of well-to-do white folks who don't care about the average American. This is 2012, not 1952. When the planes hit the World Trade towers, they weren't going "aw, gee whiz", "shucks" or "gosh darn it!" Instead, they were yelling "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!", "HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT!" and "JESUS CHRIST, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Real Christians give their money to help the poor, not other wealthy cocksuckers.

If I were M.I.A., I would be shooting the PTC and taking their money. Howard, get the hose.

First off, today is a new day here at Chuck69.com.

After eight or so years of using a grandfathered PC that my stepfather gave me for my birthday, I have finally shelled out some $$$ for a neat new laptop. Plus, I have a new router. Free wi-fi at my place! It feels so good to actually be in the 2010s. Now, if I had more free tax return bucks, I could buy a new bed, a new couch, a new house, a new this, a new that....

But yes, back to reality. And reality is, 1) my laptop will probably be out of date in six months or so and 2) Pete Hoekstra is another Hollander that should have stayed in the Netherlands, visited some brothels and enjoyed the happy life. But, he immigrated to America at age three. Sadly, it seems that country has it all: hookers and pot, and their assholes end up here.

Currently, Hoekstra's the former congressman who served for Michigan's 2nd congressional district. However, he stepped down last year to focus on his run for Michigan governor. He ultimately lost to fellow Republican Rick Snyder, who as everybody knows is very unpopular. Bear in mind that Snyder only won because he ran with lots and lots of money and even ran his first ad during the 2010 Super Bowl.

But, guess what? Hoekstra's now running for Junior US senator against incumbent Debbie Stabenow, who is running for her third term in office. So guess what happened this past weekend? He paid several NBC affiliates in the great state of Michigan to run an ad that blasts Stabenow's record of sending jobs and money to the Chinese.

The ad starts off with an Asian woman, using broken English thanking Stabenow for giving her people all our jobs and money, adding on to our National Debt. In the ad, she calls the senator "Debbie Spend it Now". In the end of the commercial, Hoekstra tells his fans that he's "Pete Spend it Not", claiming that he's not in the business of sending jobs and money overseas.

You can see the ad on this website, which is just as racist as the ad itself.

But, hold it now, Hoekstra's far from perfect, you see.

In 2008, Pete was nice enough to vote for the bailout that caused our great country to collapse into recession. Yep, Hoekstra's just another hardcore conservative who lies out of his ass and calls himself perfect. Plus, using an Asian woman to act against people of her own race to jab at his competition? Ya know, there was a man who did something similar to her decades ago, and his name was Stepin Fetchit.

This is the main reason why I vote Democrat, Chuckamaniacs. To me, Pete Hoekstra's taking a chapter out of the Rick Snyder playbook and using the Super Bowl to throw the general public into his trap. In the end, Hoekstra's going to end up as one of the biggest assholes in politics. Debbie, OTOH, is well-established and has done a good job taking care of Michigan. Heck, she's a HUGE supporter of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, which would force radio stations to bring back liberal viewpoints instead of being all-Rush, all the time. I'm not real fond of the Dutch, especially here in Grand Rapids who pretend that their shit don't stink. This November, we need to go to the polls to show Pete Spend-a-lot that using racism in attack ads won't get out anywhere. Airing the ad during the Super Bowl won't get you anywhere, either.

Maybe if that girl said "Me So Hohny", I would have given his campaign a second look.

OK, so Don Cornelius isn't really a hero, but more like a coward.

After all, three years ago, he was arrested and paroled for three years for assaulting his wife Viktoria. Plus, his cause of death was suicide from a shotgun.

While many are talking about Don's death in that light, many still consider him as a role model for for taking one of the greatest risks in the history of TV, or even broadcasting for that matter. He spent most of his 20's doing everything from serving as a Marine to selling tires and life insurance. But as he was about ready to hit his 30's, Don found his real love: broadcasting. He enrolled in a broadcast school where the instructor told his students that only a 1/4 of them would ever work in the industry.

And yes, Don ignored that statement.

Don eventually found work as a part-time news man and jock at WVON for only $50 per week. However, it was television that was his real calling. So, he started working for WCIU-TV, doing news reports and eventually hosting that daily music show that became Soul Train. That show got excellent ratings, and its sponsor, Johnson Products, agreed to help Cornelius make it big. So, Don packed his bags and flew out to Los Angeles.

In the beginning, Soul Train had very little support from affiliates, but then, the reviews came in. New York Times even claimed that Soul Train was champagne, thenAmerican Bandstand was seltzer water. Yes, Soul Train was almost easily a Bandstand knockoff; both had kids dancing to popular records, but the kids on the mighty Train had funkier dance moves, and who could ever forget the infamous Soul Train Line, where dancers danced down the line, showcasing the freshest moves for the week?

Oh, yeah, there were the guests: James Brown, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and even Joe Tex, who infamously serenaded dancer Damitra Jo Freeman onstage.

It paid off for Don, who went from $50 per week jock to a millionaire in just five years.

Soul Train grew from only seven affiliates to a few hundred, and even more homes thanks to cable TV's WGN. In many markets where Soul Train and Bandstandcompeted, the Train won. True, Dick Clark even launched his own knockoff called Soul Unlimited in 1973 to poor reviews and ratings, but that ended when Cornelius and others claimed that his show was nothing more than an excuse to insult blacks from what they created. Unlimited was canceled after just a few episodes.

But as disco in the late 70's and rap and hip-hop started to nip away at soul music's core in the 80's, the once-funky train took a hit and was even parodied on In Living Color for being old. Don stepped down from its host in 1992 and allowed others to host for him. The show finally ceased production in 2006 and Don sold the show in 2008.

Don proved to a lot of people that a black man can make it in America as long as he had all the right ideas. It's why even today, Soul Train still makes money for its owners. Soul Train Holdings. While Bandstand's owner, billionaire Dan Snyder has to deal with the fact that it has many missing episodes and the sad fact that the majority of its 1960's broadcasts were all preserved only on cheap 16mm film, all 1,000-plus episodes of Soul Train still exist on their original tape. We can still see Al Green performing live - not mimed - and all those images of that funky Asian chick with long hair down to her shins the way people first saw them in the 1970s. Simply put, Don believed that his shows were more valuable than the tape it was taped on.

Yes, Don was a coward of sorts in the end, but just like Kurt Cobain, his art's good outweighed the bad. He created a legacy to be proud of and many spent Wednesday singing his blessings. While Don was a shewed businessman, at least he built a franchise that made people all around the world proud to enjoy the funky sounds of soul music. After all, the show's theme song, "TSOP", was a #1 hit on the pop charts.

Thanks Don. You've spent your last money and it was good.

As you long-time Chuckamaniacs know, I hate WKLT.

Growing up in northern Michigan, I was a rock guy who loved KoRn, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine and Tool. But since they were the only rocker in town, they had a license to suck, ODing on late 70's butt rock 24/7. Even worse, they seemed to have a new morning show every two minutes, showing how much they valued their jocks.

Now, I think they've had their longest-running morning man in their 30 year history, and it's Omelette.

First, it was Omelette and Charly, as in Charly Kaye. However, Kaye moved to Las Vegas, but in an interview with the Northern Express in 2007, he claimed that she was fired. Kaye is now working at a station down south, and when she made her press release, she made no mention of KLT.

Of course, there was Finster, who like Omelette came from Connecticut. The two together basically revamped the morning show into another Stern clone show, complete with their own Wack Pack, the Misfits.

And despite being #1 in the morning ratings, even beating out Bob and Tom on Classic Rock The Bear (98.1/107.1), Finster was canned just after Christmas. Now, the program is known as Omelette and Friends, which sounds more like a fucking kids show on Nick Jr.

So, how's Scrambled Eggs doing after the split? Apparently, not so good. According to a website devoted to people rating morning shows, people are now calling Omelette flying solo lame. One person claimed that it was like Abbot losing Costello. About all the posters claim that it just isn't funny anymore.

But here's what grinds my gears about the show: their Misfits. Guess what one of their names is? "Stuttering Mike". Sound familiar? Yep, they have a stutterer, alongside a drunk girl (Pammy, who's also a weekend jock), some dude who apparently is a hippie (Big Daddy Tie Die), some broad named Krazy Karen and even a quasi-celeb: Anthony Ciccone.

Yes, apparently, Madonna's homeless brother is now on the station's payroll.

I know, Omelette's doing this to try to get into the big time so he can leave that pop stand known as KLT and not look back. However, I love the fact that idiots like the Religious Right have attacked Howard for years over exploiting the handicapped but when it comes to local pricks like Omelette, feh, no biggie.

True, I wish I could support Free Beer and Hot Wings and Real Rock 105 and 95-5 more, but after Cartman threw me under the bus five years ago (long story), ain't gonna happen. Thanks, but I'd rather pay to hear uncensored Howard Stern on my Sirius over the lame excuse for radio everybody's doing up north. As a matter of fact, I think he called me, and asked for his show back.

Imitation is the biggest form of flattery, ain't it?

HD RADIO TROUBLES IN MICHIGAN
Detroit's Bone de-boned, TC gets more Rush

DETROIT: Looks like fans of new rock in Detroit are back down to only two choices - WRIF and 89X - today as translator station 94.3 The Bone has been forced off the air. The 99-watt Alternative station, owned by Martz Communications is still streaming on their website, but they released a statement on their Facebook page:

"All good things must come to an end. We're sorry to say that The Bone has ceased operations today. Thanks for your support Detroit. You're the best."

The same situation goes for their Smooth Jazz sister The Oasis, which used to broadcast on 104.7 until Clear Channel complained to the FCC that it was interfering with their geriatric rocker WIOT in Toledo.

Both The Oasis and The Bone broadcasted on the HD subchannels of WGPR 107.5, which had been owned by the Freemasons, but recently entered a Local Marketing Agreement with Radio One to operate the station. Yesterday, WGPR abandoned their HD broadcasts, and per FCC rules, if a translator station doesn't have a full-power originating station, it cannot broadcast.

It was announced just a few weeks ago that The Bone would carry the syndicated Bubba the Love Sponge and Loveline shows. As of late last night, the station is still broadcasting online.

TRAVERSE CITY: Looks like fans of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, George Noory and Mark Levin now have an FM home for those shows... Sorta. The HD-4 subchannel of Roy Henderson's WLDR-FM 101.9 is now simulcasting his recently-launched Manistee News/Talk station WCUZ 100.1 in Bear Lake. The station is supposed to simulcast with another Henderson acquisition, WMTE 1340 in Manistee, but that station remains silent as Henderson looks for a new transmitter site for the silenced station.

This is the first regular format for WCUZ in so many years.The station has a long history of not staying on the air partly due to the Manistee area's lack of ad dollars and Bear Lake seeing better days in the past. According to an old newspaper article, 100.1 - then AC WRQT - first fell silent in 1990 due to tax troubles.

It was AAA WZTU "The Storm" in the 1990s and along with 92.1 Beulah (now WBNZ), 80s-centered Classic Hits "Star FM" in 1999 to 2000. Henderson bought the station in 2000, but it had been silent for most of the decade as Henderson figured what to do with it.

Like I said, there's no real ad dollars in Manistee, a town that can't even support a movie theatre. So, what does Henderson do? Simple: play hardball once again with arch enemy Ross Biederman and put all of his talkers on his HD subchannel in hopes of siphoning listeners away from WTCM.

Oh! WCUZ is also the only station in Michigan that airs Imus. Oh, brother...

It's sad that talkers with high IQs like Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann and Randi Rhodes are all homeless up north, but Traverse City now has two stations carrying Rush? Somebody's gotta bring a stop to this.

Love it or hate it, America's coming back.

At last night's State of the Union address, President Obama proclaimed the good news regarding our once-truly ailing economy. The best news came to us Michiganders, that GM is now the world's top automaker again. Factories are being built again and businesses are hiring.

But somehow, the Repukes love to shove the wrench in the gears.

One such organization is the Americans For Prosperity, a far-right-winged group that claims to promote business by urging legislators to reduce regulations that make things easier to run one. From the sounds of things, AFP wants America to return to the olden days of no minimum wage, unions or even the laws that keep us safe.

Recently, AFP has released several commercials that bash Obama over his administration's handling of failed alternative energy giant Solyndra, bashing them by saying that they wasted major tax dollars on their funding and that even they knew that the company was on a crash course of failure.

But, guess who heavily funds AFP? THE KOCH BROTHERS! Yep, as in the people who own the namesake company that makes over $100 billion per year polluting our environment through everything from mining to petroleum. They're HUGE spenders on the Republican party, even buying candidates like Wisconsin governor Scott Walker. Basically put, the Kochs are buying these ads to tell people that alternative energy - especially earth-safe solar power - will always fail and that the only way to a good life is to pump out fossil fuels from the earth.

Look, I know that the Solyndra debacle was damning to Obama's career, but hey! Bush wasted even more tax money on a war that cost us $800 billion and killed thousands of innocent people! Under Obama, spending has decreased in comparison to Bush and other Repukes.

Even though I'm not 100% with Obama, he's definitely the lesser of the evils, especially against Congress. Hell, I learned tonight that the average American loves PARIS HILTON more than them! All AFP wants to do is scare people into hating Obama and spreading more BS so the lowest common denominator will show up at the polls, vote Republican and watch this great nation sink back into the doldrums Bush created.

May the Koch brothers choke on the smoke they create.

I know, I know. It's not nice to stomp on somebody's grave.

But when you have known for years that one of your friends did something so disturbing and disgusting, I'll get my heaviest boots.

For over half a century, Joe Paterno was probably the most-beloved football coach, period. But when the news of his longtime assistant, Jerry Sandusky's sexual abuse involving young boys came out, the word was that Paterno himself knew about it, but hardly did a thing. He acted like the usual old fart that he was and pretended that men don't have sex with young boys.

I'll betcha he never heard of Nambla.

But, the news was true. Paterno knew, and was fired. Coincidentally enough, he was diagnosed with lung cancer not long after his firing. Even though they claimed it was treatable, bear in mind that it's still lung cancer, which is hard to treat.

Even though Paterno proclaimed that he wished he knew better just two weeks before his death, I still think that he should have chosen helping poor, innocent boys over his career. Jerry Sandusky's a sicko for showering with those children and molesting them in the process. Paterno was even sicker for allowing it to continue for years.

Maybe before I stomp on his grave, I'll drink some water, hint, hint.

In the video from a 1974 episode of the Australian TV series Countdown - kinda like our American Bandstand - the late Bon Scott is dressed like Zorro. The group made many more appearances on the show throughout the 70's - one rememberable appearance had Scott dressed like a sexy schoolgirl, singing "Please Don't Go" - until Scott's untimely death in 1980. OK, so now, you're wondering, why is this video just a mere two seconds? The answer is a sad one: presumably, the rest is lost. As a matter of fact, 100 episodes ofCountdown from 1974 to 1978 have been erased off the tape, per the network that aired the show, ABC, or the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. What you see is what you're gonna get. Sorry, folks. Last week, one of my Facebook friends, Steve Mindykowski posted this trailer for a documentary for Wiped: The Destruction of Australia's Television History. The four-minute 17-second clip talked about several Australian shows that met the fate of erasure to cut costs and create new shows. Countdown wasn't the only show with an incomplete library; many soap operas also got wiped as well, such as the steamy Number 96. If you saw the clip, yes, that was a naked woman sitting with her breasts exposed. And yes, that was from the 1970's, which proved that even 40 years ago, the Australians were edgier than the still-tame fare that over-the-air networks have to offer. And yes, a lot of boobies were probably erased off the tape, too. Of course, the Australians weren't the only broadcasters who erased their broadcasts. Virtually every nation in the world's broadcasters erased their shows up until the late 70's because videotape was too darned expensive. It was two-inch quadraplex tape, which ran on huge reel-to-reel tape machines and the tape itself costed $500 per reel. However, the programs that were on those tapes were more expensive to produce themselves, plus it has been discovered that the programs themselves that still exist still make their authors millions per year. Look at the BBC. Throughout the early years of television, they wiped thousands of their old programs: Dr. Who, The Likely Lads, Dad's Army and another rock program,Top of the Pops were erased over. It's believed that of all the episodes of TOTP from the 60's, only four complete shows survive, and that their 1970's archive is spotty until 1978, the final year of that show's erasure. Thankfully, the BBC has recovered many of their lost programs thanks to private collectors who somehow got their hands on these shows. Recently, an appearance from David Bowie on TOTP from 1973 performing "The Jean Genie" resurfaced in a former cameraman John Henshall's attic. He specialized in trick photography and bummed a copy from the now-erased master to show prospective clients and employers his work. He claims that he has over 100 clips in his attic, and many of them may have came from now-lost episodes of TOTP and other shows. After rediscovering the tape, the BBC did show the lost Bowie clip as part of a Christmas special last month. Intrestingly enough, the BBC was thisclose to wiping Monty Python's Flying Circus! Members of the troupe even took the masters of the show from the vault - slated for wiping - and bummed their own copies in case it was going to happen. Thankfully, since the show was a worldwide success, Auntie Beeb recanted and today, we still have Dead Parrots, Funny Walks and Spam. It can be kinda funny considering that the Australians wiped AC/DC and the Brits gave The Beatles and Bowie the same treatment. But, we still have Elvis from the waist up and The Beatles beginning the British invasion on The Ed Sullivan Show, plus The Who's Keith Moon blowing up his drumkit on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Yet, the first ten years of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, the first few Super Bowls and countless game shows and soap operas in America prior to 1980 are long gone. Yes, even rock moments are gone, too; out of 3,000 episodes of American Bandstand, only 883 survive. It's believed that most of the lost episodes are from the 1950's and 60's, especially when the show was live and daily. Amongst the lost include Buddy Holly's last TV appearance before hid untimely death in 1959. From the early 60's onward, it was weekly. According to somebody who worked at ABC, the network needed the shelf space and tapes for Wide World of Sports, so Dick Clark took the tapes, made 16mm copies of them and called it good. Some tapes did survive from the 60's, however, such as the episode of Van Morrison miming his iconic "Brown Eyed Girl" (and his second song, where he misses his beginning harmonica cue). Even though classic moments like those still exist, and there's a lot that has been recovered over the years, there's still a lot to find. After all, the early 70's episodes of The Joker's Wild and many long-lost Hollywood Squares tapes have been redsicvered. Heck, somebody might have all of the original episodes of the 1960's Match Game in his or her basement. How about the seven missing episodes of The David Letterman Show from 1980? For almost this past week, the news has been buzzing about the cruise ship Costa Concordia, which ran aground on some rocks and sank off the coast of Italy. As of this publishing, 11 people are dead and many more have been injured.

Many speculate that the ship's captain, Francesco Schettino was showboating during the disaster and didn't cooperate when his ship was sinking while hundreds of peoples' lives were being in danger.Schettino abandoned ship, long before everybody else did. As a matter of fact, while the ship started to tilt, an announcer told everybody on the intercom that everything was OK and that a slight tilt was normal.

But in the end, the ship started to sink while its passengers were freaking out.

Of course, Schettino's life is now at stake, being charged for manslaughter and abandoning ship. His lawyers contend that he is innocent, and that the rocks he hit couldn't be seen.

Ya know, Schettino was a wuss for what he did. If I were captain, I would warn the passengers to abandon ship and be the last one off, dead or alive. Remember Sully Sullenberger? He accidentally hit some birds with his plane, but proved to be a hero for landing his plane in the river, saving all on board. Sully's a hero, Schettino's a pussy. Period.

I hope this jerk gets life for what he did. His ship's the one that's sinking now.

If you want to go to Wikipedia today, you better know a foreign language.

The popular internet encyclopedia has shut down their English sites for 24 hours in protest of two bills flying around in both the House and Senate that are clearly anti-First Amendment. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Internet Protocol Act (PIPA) are two bills that are clearly pro-big business. Basically put, if anybody is selling or distributing anything not truly belonging to them and it affects the profits of big business, that site will be shut down.

Although the two bills' supporters claim that they're only targeting foreign sites, many feel that the bills are just an excuse for more policing on the internet.

Case in point: look at some of the companies supporting SOPA: News Corp., Disney, TimeWarner, Walmart, Nike, Sony, Comcast, Visa and MasterCard. Yep! All billion-dollar companies that could care less about the small guy like you and me. Even worse, guess who also supports the two bills? BOTH DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ALIKE.

Sadly, the two bills show that the issue of internet piracy is nowhere close to being a Democrat or Republican issue. It's all about how much one will buy out a candidate for. But, it's the same thing for the people who oppose SOPA/PIPA too. Republicans like Ron Paul and Michigan's Justin Amash (and amazingly, Michele Bachmann) and Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Virginia senator Mark Warner have all opposed the bill.

But guess who also is against SOPA/PIPA? OBAMA! Earlier in the week, the president weighed in, stating that he would veto both bills, especially since they're basically designed to curtail to big business and kill jobs. Thankfully, the government is starting to backpedal on this issue as more opposition from the general public is coming out against the bills.

It's also worth mentioning that most of the companies that oppose SOPA/PIPA are internet-related: Google, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter and Zynga. craigslist posted on their website that one reason why they're against the bills is because Monster Cable is crying that 2nd hand sales of their cables are costing them huge profits of new cables.

Look, this is America. I shouldn't be sued by Samsung just because I sold one of their old TVs to a pawn shop. True, a lot of stuff you see online isn't totally legal. Hell, I ganked the News Corp. logo off another website some time ago and is now on my server. Is Uncle Rupert going to sue me for using his logo without permish? Prolly not.

In all, count me in as one of SOPA/PIPA's opposers. Censorship is beyond un-American, and we shouldn't allow corporate America to screw us over just so they can see more profits while we suffer more. Let's keep the internet, and freedom free.

Or in my case, let's prevent the web from turning into a Grand Rapids strip club.

When you polish a turd, no matter how much you rub it, it's still a turd.

West Michigan has the honor of having not one, but two ABC-TV affiliates: WZZM-13 Grand Rapids for the north end and WOTV-41 Battle Creek/Kalamazoo for the southern portion. It's kind of a long story as to why the two stations have ABC, and it's kinda boring.

OK, I'll tell it to you anyway: in the 1950's, there were two TV stations in west Michigan: WOOD-TV 8 Grand Rapids and WKZO-TV 3 Kalamazoo (now WWMT). Both stations aired all three major networks in the beginning, including the ill-fated DuMont Network. However, in the late 1950's, the owners of both stations felt that the two towns were too close together, and the FCC ruled that GR and K'zoo were in the same market. So, both 3 and 8 moved their transmitters to central locations between the two cities, which allowed 3 to air more CBS programs and 8 with NBC. Both stations aired a few shows from ABC, and since the area was big enough for a third TV station, somebody made the idea a reality by convincing 3's owner, John Fetzer to move another station he owned, WWTV-13 in Cadillac/Traverse City to channel 9, which helped boosted its power and created a channel 13 for Grand Rapids. However, at the time, 13 was still going to interfere with the channel 13 in Toledo - ABC/NBC outlet WSPD (now full-blown ABC WTVG) - so they were forced to transmit from the Muskegon area, missing the Kalamazoo area by a longshot. They did broadcast a low-powered signal on channel 12 in Kalamazoo until 1971 when WUHQ-41 signed on from the Air Force Base in Battle Creek. Mind you, cable didn't exist back then, and neither did TV sets with UHF capabilities until 1964. However, 13's owner, Gannett almost bought 41 in 1990, creating a simulcast, but the merger was flanked when 8's owner, LIN bought the station instead.

Now, you should know why 1) there's two ABCs in west Michigan and 2) why I can't get laid.

For years, despite having no signal in Kalamazoo or Battle Creek, WZZM has been the dominant ABC of west Michigan. Oddly enough, I don't have cable, and through my rabbit ears, WOTV comes in clear as a bell while WZZM doesn't exist. I always wondered how that worked, but that's west Michigan for ya.

Sadly, WOTV is at the bottom of the ratings, and it's been that way forever. Recently, WOTV and its sisters, WOOD-TV and MyNetworkTV outlet WXSP have been running promos stating that a new TV station for women is coming its way. I was thinking that either 1) WXSP would be toast or 2) they were going to get something like the Living Well Network on their .2s. But, that's not the case.

Just in the past few days, it became apparent as to which station would get the makeover, and it's WOTV. Yep! The promos, featuring Maranda, Jordan Carson and a few others are telling viewers that a new ABC station is coming to town, and it's for WOMEN!

Yeppers! Stick my finger down my throat and gag.

So far, the new name for the station hasn't been revealed or more details have been released, but as far as I know, the new WOTV would be the first of its kind: a major network TV station aimed exclusively for women only. True, it would still clear the whole ABC schedule, but local and syndicated programming-wise, it would be nothing but shows for women. Already, WOTV airs Dr. Oz, The Wendy Williams Show, Better, and the soon-to-be-canceled Nate Berkus. And yes, speaking of ABC, they did recently can a few soaps for a new cooking show The Chew and a lifestyle program, The Revolution.

I do wonder if the irritating eightWest will move to WOTV. Doubt it.

Ya know, this new "ABC station for women" concept is so goddamned retarded that it makes me want to purchase a struggling network TV station myself and introduce aNaked News concept to their newscasts. Hey! The FCC might be out of the indecency-fining business soon, so it could happen. For years, there have been radio stations for women (WSRT 106.7 in northern Michigan comes to mind) and they've all bombed. Now, a network TV station for women? Jesus on a pancake.

All I can say to LIN is good luck because I hear lots of laughing at a certain competitor over at their studios in Walker. An all-womens' station might work for a .2, but not for an ABC affiliate. I think over time, LIN will once again abandon this concept and WOTV will be a regular TV station again.

And maybe when that happens, they'll replace the radar they air overnights on the weekends with girls jumping on trampolines.

One would say that Tim Tebow is God's bestie.

After all, he has lived a life honoring his far-right-winged view of Jesus. His mother risked her life to give birth to him, he was homeschooled (because those gub'ment-run public schools talk about sex, evolution 'n stuff) and even bowed to Focus on the Family by appearing in one of their ads (which was supposed to run during the Super Bowl but was nixed due to its overbearing message of life). When he became starting QB for the Broncos, he helped the then-struggling team win games and often celebrated by kneeling on the field.

But on Saturday night, Tim Tebow showed that he was no match for the much-more-established Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Pats beat the Broncos in the Divisionals, 45-10, proving that for some odd and strange reason, God seemed to not bless his given son, Tim Tebow, the magic needed to advance his team to the AFC Championship.

Now, Tebow gets to spend the off-season wondering why his 'ol buddy Jesus let him down. But hey! John Parr decided to re-work his signature to honor him.

However, unless he gets severely injured or quits football sooner or later, we're stuck with him for the next many years. Sadly, I expect this dweeb to make outrageous statements about certain people and things like most Jebus freaks love to do. After all, for him, it's God first and everybody else - even his fans - second.

Now, I respect Mr. Tebow's religion and faith. The same goes to a man deciding to be gay, but when he throws his gayness on me, I run off. Same goes with Jesus freaks. If I'm in a public place and somebody ends up lecturing me on their faith, I try to find a way to get out of it without becoming The Incredible Hulk on the outside. But, if the Lions are playing the Broncos, I'll proudly root for my Lions (and yes, they bear Tebow and the Broncs this past year).

In the end, Tebow is bowing to a new 3:16. Instead of John, it's Austin.

On this date 58 years ago, the greatest personality in the history of radio was born.

Howard Stern came from humble beginnings on Long Island, realizing that in order to succeed in life, you have to take a risk or two. In the long run, it worked. He went from making $96 per week working at a small progressive rock station in upstate New York to making $100 million per year on satellite radio. Yes, he did step down in his journey, when he went from Detroit to Washington in the early 80's. But, it was at DC 101 that he realized that he didn't want to be another loser in radio that's worked 35 stations in 30 years.

I'll betcha that his risk-taking worked, or else WKLT would have been one of his stops.

Last week, the Traverse City heritage rocker celebrated 30 years as a rock station, um, I mean, The Rock Station. It too, had humble beginnings broadcasting with 6,000 watts from a small building in downtown Kalkaska across from the police station to having two signals blanketing all of northern Michigan. Like most radio stations, KLT has seen its fair share of jocks come and go, but shockingly enough, it's only had two owners.

Northern Broadcast bought KLT in 1984 from its original owner, Roy Henderson, who now owns WLDR/Sunny Country 101.9 and a now-competing rock station, WOUF/99.3 The Wolf. The company is owned by the Gokey family of Minot, ND, who own a Pepsi distributorship. In an age of consolidation and stations changing owners every fortnight, NBI is still family owned.

Sadly, like the Clear Channels and Cumuluses of the world, they could care less about their listeners or even their employees. Case in point: Finster.

Just a few days after Christmas, the other half of KLT's top-rated morning show was shown the door while the other half, Omelette, wasn't. The official reason wasn't given, but many who have followed KLT over the years know the real reason: money. NBI has had a long, sad history of treating their jocks like shit, especially those who actually bring ratings to their stations.

Now, the morning show at KLT is called Omelette and Friends. Sounds like some program for pre-schoolers.

Back in the mid-90's, there was Tim Murphy. Murf was #2 in the ratings and had a devout following. However, he was shown the door. Why? Because one morning, he decided to talk trash about the now-former Arby's on Front St. He talked about how the service was slow, the employees were rude and how the food was cold. At the same time, the local manager of Arby's purchased ad time on NBI's stations. He told the station manager to fire Murf and that was that.

Oh, and Arby's purchased a whopping $300 of ad time.

Of course, KLT ended up with a burned-out former KSHE/St. Louis jock named Jim Ellis for mornings. He came, got ratings and got canned. Same went with pretty much every other morning jock that conquered (and Ellis came back for one more tour of duty in the early 00's; he died ~5 years ago) and got the boot due to so-called money issues.

What's funny is that they'll fire the morning guy, but the old and outdated Terri Ray is still around.

I find it funny that somebody with ZERO rock background can ever program a rock station. Then again, since throughout the 1990's, KLT was the only rocker in town - save for the classic rocker now known as The Bear - and even with bands like KoRn, Limp Bizkit and Nine Inch Nails ruling rock radio at the time, KLT had a license to suck by ODing on 1970's butt rock and Melissa Etheridge.

True, KLT has even more competition from the aforementioned Wolf and Bear, plus Real Rock 105/95-5, they're still in the lead in the rock radio race. But, I think that's gonna change. I think the older listeners are going to go back to Bob and Tom on The Bear and the youngin's will go to Free Beer and Hot Wings on Real Rock (and people like me who realize that Howard Stern can kick all their collective asses will always have Sirius). I think NBI has once again buried their heads in the sand and put the listener last. Remember, this is the same NBI that killed off 106.7 The Peak for a crappy AC format and doesn't know what to do with The Fox. Thankfully, I'll give 'em credit for wanting to get out of the radio business. Sadly, now's not the time to sell (after all, Real Rock/The Bear and Big Country was re-sold back to the man who sold them in the first place in the late 90's for millions less than what he sold them originally).

Personally, if I owned KLT (and You FM and The Fox), changes will be made. For one thing, current GM Charlie Ferguson would be out of a job. I would get a morning show that people would be talking about and enjoy. Hell, I'd get Bubba the Love Sponge! Also, I'd cut back big-time on the 1970's butt rock and make it a mixture of new and classics. You FM would also go all-progressive talk and The Fox might go the alternative route.

But for now, KLT farted on the candles.

Sometimes, one has no choice but to shake their head about Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson.

During the holidays, he asked a female black reporter of his 700 Club what she had had for Thanksgiving, and she replied "Macaroni and Cheese". He then said, "Macaroni and Cheese? Is that a black thing?"

Apparently, Pat's never been to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

But like he's done for over 50 years, once again, Pat's foot - or maybe even both of them - have entered his mouth. Last week on his daily pledge-a-thon, Robertson showed proof that he's either getting old or just being the attention whore that he always is. He made the claim that in his daily chats with God himself, he told him who will win the 2012 presidential elections.

Ut-oh! Pat's done it again. Remember when he ran for president in 1988, only because God told him to run? Yeah. I'll betcha the only reason why was because all of his other preacher buddies - ie Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggert - were all getting theirs. It's amazing that Robertson wasn't caught in the cookie jar and he's still using his CBN to control the hearts and minds of the people who watch his daily BS.

Remember folks, people who watch The 700 Club and just about every other daytime trash show live on fixed incomes, and some of them are on their wit's end. Look! Pat said to give him all you can, and miracles will happen! The only miracle that happens there is that he's a few bucks richer and you might have to foreclose on your dilapidated trailer. After all, The 700 Club is a paid program to local stations that air Pat's daily diatribes and the more you give him, the bigger the helipad at his Virginia mansion.

Organized religion: it's one hell of a drug.

On Saturday night, as most of us in Michigan were watching the Lions' Cinderella season come to an end, another sad and pathetic Republican debate was happening in New Hampshire. As usual, the Republicans were throwing jabs at each other and in all honesty, not really accomplishing anything.

But, guess who had the worst quote out of the candidates that evening? None other than Mitt Romney.

In the midst of him blabbing about Obamacare, wanting to raise the retirement age and everything else, the wealthy ex-Massachusetts governor said that if he were president, he would send our troops back to Iraq.

In the great words of Rocket J. Squirrel, "AGAIN?!?"

Apparently, Mitty-Poo thinks that there's a lot more to be done in that country, even though we wasted $800 billion and 4,500 soldiers' lives over there. Shows how down-to-Earth he is, huh?

Look, do we REALLY want to invade Iraq again? We did the Iraqis a favor by taking that country over and killing their leader. Nice, but guess what? There's other evil dictators worldwide, and we all know why we invaded that nation in the first place: OIL.

With crude still over $100 a barrel and Iraq still a hellhole even after Saddam's death, is it REALLY our problem that country is what it is? IMO, there's a reason why Saddam was a tyrant, and it's because of their frickin' religion!

You know what? I used to work for an Iraqi years ago. A former co-worker of mine told me that my boss' father tried to kill his brother after he found him smoking pot. He took out a shotgun and shot him several times. He was rushed to the hospital and survived, but that's their life.

My point is, why should WE try to make THEIR lives better when we have our own problems at home? Like I said, oil prices are STILL high. Yes, unemployment's down, but how many jobs that are being created pay well enough to support a family? Thing is, yes, things are getting better, only because of Obama's policies. He ain't perfect, but at least he's accomplished more in three years than Bush did in eight.

Mark my words. If Mitt Romney beats Obama in November, America's going to hell. PERIOD. I'm tired of the mega rich telling me what to do. It's time to bring America back from the wealthy, and Romney will only take us back to Bush territory.

Or even worse, it'll run like a Rambler.

On the night of December 31, 2011, I had to take drastic measures.

It was New Years Eve, and I had nowhere to go, and I sure as hell didn't want to ring in the new year forced to sit through Ryan Seacrest, Cee-Lo Green fucking up "Imagine", Justin Bieber ruining "Let it Be" or even a post-stroke Dick Clark (whose soundbytes are played every time Stern gets back from holiday vacation).

Of course, I had other options. One was going downtown, struggling to find a parking spot and stand in 30-degree temps listening to shitty 80's music from The Romantics (and yes, they're still together; as a matter of fact, three out of the four members when "Talking In Your Sleep" was riding high on the charts are still with the band). IMHO, The Romantics wouldn't be so bad if the aforementioned tune and "What I Like About You" wasn't played every three seconds on any radio station in America.

Oh, and let's not forget: the concert was brought to you by Cumulus Broadcasting. True, it ain't Citadel no more, Cumulus is almost just as bad. However, The Romantics is a step up from the emo crap they had in recent years.

And aw, yes, there's the bars. Ya know, I'm 30 years old. Do I want to go into a place where nobody knows my name and most of the people are assholes? Been there, done that. I've noticed in recent years that most girls in Grand Rapids, PERIOD are total ignorant bitches. Case in point: several months ago, I went to Stella's downtown. I sat next to a huge group of chicks, and I saw one of them holding a switchblade. The girl told me "quit eavesdropping on me!" and that was the end. Every time I go there, it's the same 'ol shit: the girls are ignorant bitches. However, the last time I went there, it was after the Five Finger Death Punch concert, and I ordered a burger and beer. Sadly, some dude sat next to me and stared at me the whole time. Personally, I think he was gay.

I know, there's other bars in town, and it's the same 'ol: ignorant assholes and bitches who either a) girls who want nothing to do with you or b) some gay dude who wants to be more than "friends".

Oh, yes, there was the infamous "Eddie" incident. Because of that sick fuck, I no longer go to either Mulligan's or Billy's.

But let's face it: I'm sick of Grand Rapids' night life. I'm tired of wasting my money on overpriced drinks and just being looked at as that lonely guy at the corner of the bar. I'm tired of rude bartenders who scream at me when I just want to stick around and sober up. Worst of all, I'm tired of being cock blocked.

So, I spent my New Years in Lansing.

Yep! I made the almost-120-mile round trip to Lansing to do something that I haven't done in a year: go to Deja Vu. With the nudity ban in Kalamazoo in full force, I figured that the Vu in Lansing would equal out in distance. My entrance fee was only $10 for door and drink, but I still spent a ton of dough on the best lap dances I ever had in my life. I kept wondering why I went to the Kalamazoo Vus instead of this one. Most of the girls in Lansing weren't a bunch of old, saggy broads like the ones in K'zoo had become (after all, we're talking about Spartan Country) and most importantly, I got to see vagina.

Yeah, the club had its problems. One of the girls who sat and talked to me killed my boner with the words "I have a one-year-old at home". I forgot her name, but she's the one who usually goes bottomless first because she has mommy boobs. However, the most-major incident was when I got a 3-for-$30 (it ended up becoming $40 so I could touch her tits and ass) and the girl who lapped me almost stole $15 from me as part of the change I got back from me buying her a drink. Nonetheless, I definitely had more fun at the Vu in Lansing over being at some unfriendly bar in Easttown.

But that's Grand Rapids 4 ya. I've lived here for almost 10 years and I'm sick. This town has only gotten worse in 10 years in regards to jobs and people. There are jobs, but usually, the only way to get them is to become a temp first or be close to running out of unemployment. Like I said, there's a bar on every corner in town, but you've read my story. Yes, GR USED to have strip clubs, but thanks to right-winged lies, they're downgraded to bland bikini clubs.

Oh, and I'm starting to see more bums begging me for a ride nowadays. Not gonna happen.

If I had money, I'd move somewhere else. It's sad thinking that the closest friends I have here in town are my aunt and cousin, plus a slightly-older Ethiopian woman who barely speaks English. That's all. This is a metropolitan area of 1.3 million people and it seems that nobody has a heart. It explains why I now spend my Saturday nights alone and bored.

Congrats, Grand Rapids. Your people couldn't be more cold.

Bubba the Love Sponge comes to 94.3 The Bone in Detroit

DETROIT'S BONE GETS BUBBA MORNINGS, LOVELINE NIGHTS
Flea-powered Alt-Rocker becomes Stern pal's first Michigan station

Fans of former Sirius/XM talker Todd "Bubba the Love Sponge" Clem are happy to hear that he's coming to Detroit. But, you better live close to the transmitter to hear him.

This Wednesday, his show will be syndicated to 99-watt Modern Rocker W232CA, aka "94.3 The Bone". The station, whose signal is a puny, miniscule fraction of the wattage of heavyweights such as fellow Alt-Rocker 89X and heritage WRIF 101.1, is also heard on WGPR 107.5 HD-3. Legally, a translator station must rebroadcast another station's signal, so technically, W232CA rebroadcasts WGPR-HD-3's signal.

Confusion aside, it appears that The Bone's owners, Martz Communications, is trying to prove that the fledgling station does have staying power; they also added on another syndicated show not heard in Detroit for years: Loveline. That show airs Sunday through Thursday 10p-Midnight.

Only time will tell if the long-awaited new morning show and other changes will make a positive impact on the station. I do like the addition of Bubba, but I do wonder if he'll be a decent fit, especially with Detroit not being the most-Stern-friendly market out there. However, it'll be a great alternative to Drew and Mike and whatever 89X has these days.

93.7 The Ticket launches in northern Michigan

NORTHERN MICHIGAN'S WKAD, WMBN FLIP TO SPORTS
93.7 The Ticket displaces Oldies and Standards

It's not even far into 2012 and the radio dial in northern Michigan is buzzing.

Earlier this week, Trish MacDonald Garber flipped two of her stations - Oldies 93.7 WKAD Cadillac and Standards WMBN 1340 Petoskey - to a simulcasted Sports format, 93.7 The Fan. The station uses Fox Sports Radio as their main network and also carries Dan Patrick and Jim Rome's shows.

The station also has a local morning show, hosted by Tom Devitt, formerly of Big Country 102.9.

The new station displaces the Oldies format WKAD had since its 2003 sign-on, but it also replaces the Standards format WMBN had for around 50 years since it was owned by the Biederman family. When WMBN moved solely to the FM - then at 96.3 - in the early 80's, it had been a ratings success, but found itself back on the AM dial in 1990 when 96.3 flipped to AC as Lite 96. Throughout the 80's, 1340 was WWPZ, which played a hybrid of Top 40 and Oldies.

With the flip to Sports, this means that for the first time ever, there are no radio stations in northern Michigan carrying any type of Standards format. Then again, some radio experts are saying that even AC stations - like Lite 96 - might be the next format to die, especially since many AC mainstays like James Taylor, Elton John and Michael Bolton attract an older audience that advertisers are now avoiding, and that many AC stations are now playing CHR-friendly acts like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Heck, some even play rap when they do a flashback weekend.

It's also worth noting that the last Standards station prior to WMBN's flip happened to be WCCW 1310 out of Traverse City, which flipped to ESPN in 2000.

But, for Sports talk fans, the flip to 93.7 and 1340 is welcome. In Cadillac, 1370 WLJW - formerly WKJF - flipped from Sports to Religious Talk when the Biedermans sold that station in 2004. As for the Straits area, WIDG 940 - which carried Sporting News Radio - they were also sold to a religious group in 2008.

There's no word if 93.7 The Ticket carries "Huge" Bill Simonson, but rest assured, he's still losing affiliates. Just this past week, WCSY 940 South Haven signed off the air for good, and the station's towers will be torn down. Apparently, the station wasn't making money and the tower site was worth more than the station itself.

Popular WKLT morning man let go; no reason given

On Wednesday afternoon, "Finster", the other half of WKLT 97.5/98.9 Traverse City's morning show, was fired. No reason was given for his dismissal, but understanding KLT's long and storied history, budgetary concerns might have played a role.

Finster's partner, "Omelette", is still on board; the show is now called "Omelette and Friends".

What might be tragic in all this is the fact that Omelette and Finster's ratings have been pretty good; I heard that they're in first place in the morning ratings, even beating out The Bear's syndied stalwarts Bob and Tom. But then again, this is KLT we're talking about. Tim Murphy had ratings and was shown the door. Same situation with the late Jim Ellis. They've forever treated their jocks - with the possible exception of Terri Ray - like underwear. Yet, they're always near the top of the ratings, no matter what they do.

True, I wasn't much of an O&F fan. They were Stern clones by having their own Wack Pack called "The Misfits" and even donating to a no-kill animal shelter ala North Shore Animal League. But still, Finster's a human and has a family to feed.

All I can say is that I hope Finster can land on his feet. Once again, Northern Broadcast, a company known for one abortion after the other, has its head up its ass.

*Once again 89X is #1 for all internet radio fans in Detroit. However, there's one slight embarrassment regarding 89X being on top, and it's the the fact that their ranking, 169,806 is actually lower than that of WGRD Grand Rapids' 136,126. A station in The D at #1 getting beaten out by a smaller market station. In the words of Nelson Muntz: "HA! HA!"

*Well, it looks like the novelty of The Bone is drying up. With its weak signal and lack of promotion, will it last another year?

*Meanwhile, its sister station, The Oasis did see a slight rise in the ratings, possibly due to the fact that their translator at 104.7 is gone.

*New and better signal or not, the new Hot 107.5 - formerly at 102.7 - went down a touch.

*Three of Detroit's FM heavyweights - AMP 98.7, Fresh 100 WNIC and WOMC didn't make the list. Will there be changes soon?

*The new WXYT 1270 didn't make the list, only because I couldn't find a URL of their own. Nonetheless, it'll be a ratings abortion, one way or another.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2012:

*Arthur P. WON'T reappear on 106.7 The D,
*WNIC will remain Hot AC, but with tweaks,

*Even though they don't stream, WKLT rules the radio roost up north. Even The Bear and Real Rock - both sisters - saw huge gains. Even 99.3 The Wolf, a station that hasn't updated their website in months, plus their web stream has also been down for months as well, showed up on the list. A wonderful book for Rock indeed.

*Wow! Z93, once left for dead is on the list this time. I think part of it's due to the fact that their webstream actually works on cell phones.

*Talk tumbled this time around, but it won't this time next year with the elections. You FM fell off the list altogether.

*Even though they've updated their website and even the station itself, WCCW-FM was AWOL from the list. IMHO, WCCW was the most-improved station of 2011. I'm very happy that they canned their outdated "OldiesRadio" image and even the fact that they eliminated all satellite-fed programming from the station. The station can run live and local on its own without some fake jock from Colorado pretending to sound local.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2012:*You FM will become more liberal
*The Fox FM, now with Rich Nadeau at the helm will add more 90's to the playlist and will try to recapture the sound it once had when Mark Elliott was running it
*Northern Broadcast will return streaming to at least KLT
*KHQ will add Billy Bush nights and Ryan Seacrest middays
*No changes at any of the country stations or even KLT
*Real Rock 105/95-5 will ditch Jay Roberts and go local nights
*The Bear will hire Finster for middays

However, since we now archive our Bee-otches on Blogspot, we can track viewers, pageviews and so forth. We're going to hand the great honor of Bee-otch of the Year to the most-read story from our site.

JANUARY: FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION
Late last year, a court in New York state ruled that the FCC does not have the authority to slam TV stations with fines for nudity after the agency handed over Notices of Apparent Liability to 45 ABC-TV stations over an old episode of NYPD Blue. In the episode, Charlotte Ross is totally naked, primarily showing her bare butt along with some sideboob and even the part of the pubis that you might be able to show on TV without truly scaring the censors. Since the show aired at 9 p.m. in the Central and Mountain time zones, it was during the FCC's so-called "safe harbor" zone, meaning that it aired during a time children were watching. However, the court ruled that the FCC doesn't have a real rule for nudity, and now, the FCC's indecency laws are under the Supreme Court microscope.

FEBRUARY: THE CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS
Earlier this year, the second-largest city in Michigan was in an uproar over a Newsweek article that called the city one of the ten "dying cities in America". In a decade, Grand Rapids lost 5% of its population, a ton of jobs and even an increase in crime. So, what does the city do? Simple: a LipDub video that was funded in part by Amway. Yet, the video didn't create jobs, or even stop Rodrick Dantzler's rampage through the city in July.

MARCH: CITADEL BROADCASTING
The now-former media giant was Bee-otched several times in March. The first time was for the revelation by former WMMQ 94.9 Lansing morning man Rich Michaels that the company was screwing him and other jocks over by forcing them into a non-compete so if they get fired, they wouldn't be able to make any money in their own hometown. Another time was for exploiting the death of high school basketball star Wes Leonard by airing his team's first game after his death, prompting high ad revenue and ratings for their WBBL and lastly, for the fact that their financial troubles prompted Cumulus Broadcasting to buy them out. Although Cumulus is nowhere near perfect, at least a lot of good has come out, such as the fact that Michaels - now Rich Minaya - is now handling afternoons on WIOD 610 in Miami and that Matt Hanlon didn't survive the merger.

APRIL: WOOD-TV 8
One of the most-shocking stories that came out of the west Michigan media was the fact that longtime WOOD-TV 8 standby Susanne Geha was shown the door. Nobody knows the true story as to why WOOD-TV canned the legendary news diva after a combined over 30 years at the station (minus 1978-1983 when she was at WXYZ-TV Detroit), but some speculate that age and money played huge roles. Thankfully, Geha has somewhat landed on her feet, speaking at functions and occasionally appearing on crosstown WZZM-13. WOOD, however, is still #1 in the ratings, even with unlikable personalities like Terri The Whor-er, DeBoer.

MAY: CLEAR CHANNEL
The most-evil media company of them all was one sick little bitch in 2011. Not only did they fire hundreds of DJs for cheap satellite-fed programming, but they also played hardball with a small Detroit radio station. The station, 104.7 The Oasis was a small translator station that didn't even cover most of Detroit. However, CC got mad over the fact that the station did interfere with one of their stations in Toledo, Jurassic rock station WIOT. They cried to the FCC and won. Thankfully, the smooth jazz station's owner, Martz Communications, is planning to find another spot for The Oasis, which still broadcasts at 107.5 HD-2.

JUNE: ROBERT SCHWANDER
The most-controversial Bee-otch this year was that of 17-year-old Robert Schwander, the son of a sheriff's deputy in Traverse City, MI who killed innocent 16-year-old Carly Lewis. A troubled teen, Schwander was left homeless and lived in a makeshift shack in a gravel pit. Many of you felt that I was being too tough on Robert, now spending a 40-to-70-year jail term for Lewis' murder. But, a spade is a spade.

JULY: BENJAMIN "RANDY MICHAELS" HOMEL
The Summer of 2011 was the season the music died. The only full-service rock stations in New York and Chicago, WRXP and WKQX "Q101" respectively, both signed off and flipped to all-news because Homel started a company, Merlin Media that bought out both stations. Since then, both stations have sunk in the ratings and, well, Homel got busted for drunk driving.

AUGUST: SIRIUS/XM
The satellite radio giant had an iffy year in 2011. Of course, Howard Stern's suing them over back pay, but at the same time, they're spending millions to bring back Studio 54. They replaced the much-loved BBC Radio 1 channel with the Studio 54 channel, angering listeners. Even worse, they took off Radio 1 the same week riots erupted in England. So, instead of getting updates on the riots, we got to hear some pile of shit from the late great Sylvester only nine people care about.

SEPTEMBER: DAFFNEY RINCHER
Many of you readers were angered over this woman doing something so sick: stealing the dog of three teens with disabilities. Rincher was an aide to a family of 16-year-old triplets - two sons with MS and a daughter with scoliosis - in Long Island who noticed that their new Havanese puppy was stolen. Richer denied any wrong-doing, but when one of the kids saw that she was "dogsitting" on her Facebook status, the cops were called, and the dog was rescued.

OCTOBER: MATT HANLON
Some good news and bad news: the good news was that Matt Hanlon, the idiot responsible for screwing over Howard Stern and hard rock fans in Grand Rapids, was fired. When Cumulus and Citadel merged, Hanlon wasn't included in the package. Sadly, however, Townsquare, the owners of WGRD, WFGR and a few others, hired him and is now an ad man for the company. Pray that he doesn't weasel his way back into management.

NOVEMBER: DON JULIO'S RESTAURANT
The once-popular Grand Rapids Mexican eatery got thrown into a sea of controversy when its manager ordered a family with a service dog to move him to the lobby because it was shedding hair. The German Shepard, named Spruce services a Gulf War vet who suffers seizures and is trained to bark repeatedly if he collapsed. The manager was interviewed and stood by her decision to bar the dog from entering the restaurant. But, it was an overall bad decision: Don Julio's closed only weeks after the incident.

DECEMBER: SANDY RICHARDS
Sandy is the music teacher in Traverse City, MI who made headlines when she took out the word "gay" from "Deck the Halls" and replaced it with "bright" as in "don we now our bright apparel". True, it would stop a young kid from laughing, but it would also teach them that censorship is good.

If you read my Facebook or Twitter posts, I said that my final Bee-otch of the Day was going to be personal.

But, since I'm in a (somewhat) good mood, I'll hold it off for now. ;)

Next Tuesday, we're going to start honoring (dishonoring?) the losers who are all nominated for Bee-otch of the Year. But today, we're going to honor the people who made the most-positive difference in the world in 2011.

And that, in my honorable opine, is none other than those who played a role in the Occupy movement.

The midterm elections last year proved brutal with the House getting taken over by Republicans and many states getting Republican governors, such as this one. In just one year's time, the Republicans are back to their old tricks, giving belly rubs to their rich buddies, exactly like they did in 2008. Big banks like Chase and Citibank got some of the biggest asskissings in history, and we, the taxpayers paid for it.

Oddly enough, the Occupy movement was the idea of Canadians. But, a small group of Americans took the idea and made it their own. From that small gathering, hundreds joined, and now, there's Occupy protestors walking all over the earth, simply asking for the 1% to help out the 99%.

In the beginning, the media was shockingly silent on the whole idea, and the Facebook and Twitters of the world ended up buzzing about it, and soon enough, the NBCs, CBSs, ABCs, Foxes, CNNs and other news outlets of the world just had to make it the top story. Although sadly, they made the protestors look extremely violent and aggressive at times, most of the protestors were peaceful humans marching for peace.

Tragically, corporate America has sank their claws into the movement. Remember when a ton of protestors were arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge? Part of it was due to a heavily-funded police force thanks in part to JPMorganChase. Obviously, that company wants to turn the movement into something that's invisible. But, it didn't work.

Sadly, in the end, big corporations are still getting their cheese and even worse, President Obama has been strangely silent on the issue. But then again, this is Winter and well, who wants to sleep in a tent when it's only 30 degrees outside? But, when Spring comes around, America better watch out. The movement will be back, stronger than ever. The people running for president better beef things up or else revolution will rear its ugly head.

To anybody who played a role in the movement, thank you. You stand up for the one thing ALL Americans need and that's freedom. The antics of the wealthy have sunk us all to a new low financially and even spiritually. Yes, the Glenn Becks of the world have called you and other savages for your beliefs, but then again, they've never been poor in their lives.

When the snow melts, the voices will rise again.

Interestingly enough, I have a step-grandfather who loves right-winged talk radio. His favorite type of music? He doesn't care.

That's right! Somebody who doesn't care about any type of music, period, and he blames all the world's ills on the liberals.

Sounds like Rick Snyder to me.

Earlier this year, I wrote about a school district in northern Michigan - Forest Area, which basically consists of Fife Lake and South Boardman - who eliminated their music program due to the severe cuts to schools created by newly-elected governor pRick Snyder.

Now, another school district might have to cut part of their music program: my ala mater.

That's right! Elk Rapids High School might have to cut their popular Zero Hour Jazz Lab due to Snyder's cuts. David McKeon, the school's music teacher told local NBC affiliate WPBN that all their funding was cut last May and is working diligently to keep the now-struggling program afloat.

Their lifeline? A CD.

The disc - sold at the High School - features performances by the 20-piece group, which meets at 6:50 a.m. every morning. The Lab itself is a full-credit class and has been an ERHS tradition for years.

I was a student of Mr. McKeon's throughout my Middle and High School years. I fondly remember when the High Schoolers ran across the street with their instruments to the Middle School since their band room was used for both schools (the Middle School was the old High School). In 1996, while I was a Freshman, the new - and spacious - band room in the High School was finally erected, ending the days of running through the blizzard just to play for our grades.

Seeing the band program getting downgraded in 15 years because of Snyder's cost-cutting antics is not just a slap in the face to Elk Rapids - pop. 1,600 - but also McKeon, who has helped his bands win awards. Nothing like Snyder willing to do anything to please his rich buddies while the teens in Elk Rapids might end up with one less creative outlet.

I'll be fair. Since Snyder became governor last January, yeah, he's done some failed union busting (almost firing the union caretakers at the Grand Rapids Vets Home, which was overruled by a judge), taken over a mostly-black city for the sake of its mostly-white twin town (Benton Harbor) and has risen taxes for the poor and giving it to his wealthy buddies. However, Snyder has signed a few good bills, one for helping out poor people with their heating bills and another that prevents school bullying.

Is a D- too conservative for Snyder? I think not.

As an ERS student, I remembered some of the problems they faced throughout my tenure as a student. Some of the reasons were due to budget problems and IMO, the fact that there's a ton of retirees in the area who didn't want to pay taxes. Elk Rapids is a conservative town politically and yes, financially at times.

I know, the High School got a major remodeling in the late 90's, and since I graduated, the schools have gotten major, MAJOR facelifts. I almost fainted looking at the new football stadium for the first time. But that's progress. Sadly, some of that's going to waste thanks to Snyder's antics.

In the end, he'll be one and done. He'll cry that Michigan's coming back, but that's only because Bush is out of office. Ever notice that when Clinton was president, Michigan was a kick-ass state? Really. During the Bush years, that faded to a memory. After all, one state had to get all the problems while Mississippi started building Toyotas at $8 per hour. To hell with unions, let's go right to work and while were at it, force the middle class into being the working poor. Gotta love that Bush! Ya gotta love a man whose stupidity forced us into Iraq and cost us over $800 billion.

Thankfully, the troops are home. However, they'll have one less band to see if not enough people buy their CDs.

Yes, it must be so ronry getting poked by pitchforks, living in a sea of fire and having Satan's cock up your ass at all times.

It was made official on Sunday night by the North Korean government that long-time dictator Kim Jong-il passed away from a heart attack at the age of 69. Jong-il ran the country for 17 years, preceeding his father, Kim Il-Sung. The elder Kim was made eternal president of the communist nation, which was founded shortly after the end of World War II.

Under his rule, Kim Jong-il virtually enslaved his own people and was looked on as one of the worst leaders of any nation on earth. He threatened to attack any nation he wanted, and the U.S. was one of his targets. He would fire test missles, hoping for an invasion of America.

Thankfully, the attacks never happened. However, since his family's ruled North Korea since 1948, it might be under his and his father's aegis for a while. Already, his 27-year-old son Kim Jong-un has been named as a noted successor.

If 2011 were to be known for something, it would be the deaths of some of the world's worst leaders with Jong-il dying with Osama bin Laden and Mummar Kahdaffi. Sadly, however, the job's not done. There's still lots of evil people out there that we need to fight against.

It's official: Howard Stern is going to change the face of television... Again.

Last Thursday, it was announced that the King of All Media will be replacing the outgoing Piers Morgan as a judge on the NBC show America's Got Talent. He'll be sitting alongside Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel as they judge people on, well, talent.

AGT is traditionally a family-friendly show on the same lines as American Idol and other shows in the same vein on TV. Howard's a huge fan of the show, and always wanted to be a judge. Some do wonder if going from crass shock jock to judge would ever work.

Of course, the Parents Television Council isn't too happy. When news broke out about Stern being on the show, president Tim Winter called NBC's move to sign him on as a sign of despiration for the failing network. After all, this is the same network that gave us the failed The Playboy Club.

In response, Stern said on Piers' failing CNN show that the PTC thinks that he's trying to turn Americans into sex-crazed zombies. Also, he told Morgan that he'll keep his schtick clean and will take his post seriously.

So far, no affiliates have announced that they were yanking AGT over Stern; after all, Salt Lake's KSL-TV - owned by the Mormon Church - did not air The Playboy Clubover the fact that in their eyes, the magazine that modeled the show is pornographic and destroys families.

Look. George Carlin gave us The Seven Dirty Words and yet he was the star of a PBS kids show, Shining Time Station. Richard Pryor was one of the dirtiest comics ever, but he did a kids movie in 1982, The Toy. True, AGT's not really a kids show, so why should the PTC complain?

The answer's plain and simple: they're nothing more than attention whores, plain and simple. Look at the controversy surrounding All-American Muslim. Many are mad at Lowe's for pulling their spots on that show, and feel that it's over biased hatred caused by the right-winged religious hate groups that pressure companies in hopes of supporting their views. The PTC claims to be non-partisan only because Joe Lieberman was once on their advisory board of mainly right-winged weirdos, failed entertainers and employees of the PAX Network.

Oh, and speaking of the PAX Network, what happened to that? Simple: it disappeared due to poor ratings. What's left of that is now the ion Network and even that's useless. Heck, they now air UFC fights! Point is, nobody truely cares about "family-friendly" programming, and the ratings proved it. The PTC claims to have 12,000 members, which is less than 1% of the population. In the end, the PTC is nothing more than a fringe group, like the KKK who don't want freedom, period.

In the end, the viewers (and sadly, the advertisers) will prevail.

Stern Fan Network, we hardly knew ye.

For now.

On Tuesday, the popular Howard Stern fan message board closed with a message "CLOSED I love you Howard Stern Mutt", with the PS "Fuck You Midget". One reason for the board's demise was due to the constant bashing of Stern and yes, the beloved *sarcasm* Eric the Retarded Midget, who calls in the show constantly only to bash Howard and his fans.

Over the past several years, the board has sadly transitioned from a place where Stern fans could unite and do everything from bash CBS management and local markets that refused to carry the show to a board that's all about bashing Beth the Horse-faced Gold Digger and even Howard himself for only working three days per week and making $90 million a year. It appears that the board's fans all bow down to Dopie and Opie, even though they're not the ones who bring an audience to Sirius/XM.

SFN is planning a comeback, probably within the next several days. Mutt is restructuring the site and claims that it will be a happier place for all Stern fans alike. We'll see how long that'll last...

As somebody who has been posting on message boards for 13 years, I know how it is. You're dealing with assholes with anonymous user names who hide behind mommy's keyboard in her basement who find something better in life rather than to focus on improving their own lives. Trust me, it's happened to me before. But guess what? One of the jerks who had the audacity to bash me repeatedly on one of those message boards has proven to be a total loser: he can't keep a job for more than a year, his marriage failed and moves every five seconds because he's apparently deep in debt. Sucks to be him.

Look, I'm not perfect, and neither is Howard. He might be married to a beautiful woman and rich beyond his dreams, but he deserves every penny. He worked his ass off and took mega risks, even some that damn near killed his career. He'll be 58 next month, and deserves to slow down. I do hope for the best for him and Beth if he ever chooses to retire.

As for the SFN posters who love to bash Howard, please, get out of mommy's basement and find a real job. Find a woman. Find a nice place to live. PLEASE! GET A FUCKIN' LIFE!
