Don't you just love the Republican Party here in Michigan?

Look at John Engler: he was a "job creator" when Clinton was in office. And when he left office and Jennifer Granholm took over, it was Jennifer who was busy cleaning up Engler's messes while the state was collapsing thanks to Bush's retarded policies that only benefited rich assholes like the Devoses and not much else.

Now, look at Michigan's unemployment rate: it's 4.5% while the country's is 4.9%. Here in Grand Rapids, businesses are having a hard time finding workers since the unemployment rate is so darned low. Some are now increasing their minimum pay since good workers are too hard to find. People now have money in their pocket and they're seeing prosperity, something that the Bush years never achieved.

And our current governor, Rick Snyder ain't helping.

The governor wants taxpayers to pony up $3.4 million to pay for the state's lawyers in regards to the Flint water crisis that HE started. However, state Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich D-Flint has intro'd a bill that would BAN the state from forcing taxpayers to pay for the messes they've created. All I can say is bravo.

You know, the governor got us into this mess, and now, he should be on his own. He's poisoned the people of Flint and hell, he should be in jail for what he did. And he wants you and me to pay for his shit?

All I can say is this: don't look at me! I didn't vote for that fucker.

Name: Gene Wilder
Age: was 83
Occupation: entertainer
Last Seen: dancing in Heaven with Gilda Radner
Awarded For: being one hell of an actor

Celebrities, you can stop dying now.

Yesterday, we lost a giant in the world of show business. Gene Wilder died at his home in Connecticut with his family holding his hand as he passed on. The 83-year-old died from Alzheimers.

Born Jerome Silberman in 1933 to Russian Jews, Gene started on stage and then moved on to TV and then the silver screen. In only his third film, 1967's "The Producers", he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscar. He was nominated for two more Oscars: one for co-writing 1974's "Young Frankenstein" with Mel Brooks and one for Best Actor for what might be his best role: the mad candy factory owner Willy Wonka from 1971. Amazingly, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was a box office flop, but it would gain traction over the years with audiences everywhere.

He appeared mainly in Mel Brooks movies and was a constant co-star to Richard Pryor. But some say that his favorite co-star was his third wife, beloved Saturday Night Live great Gilda Radner. The two made a few movies together: "The Woman in Red", "Hanky Panky" and "Haunted Honeymoon". Sadly, their lives on-screen and in real life ended with Gilda losing her horrific battle with ovarian cancer in 1989 at age 42. Wilder honored her by helping to create Gilda's Club not long after her passing.

Wilder's last movie was 1991's "Another You" with Richard Pryor. It was the two's last film, period. Richard Pryor died in 2005 from Multiple Sclerosis. Wilder semi-retired from acting, even though he got 50+ scripts per year.

Gene Wilder was a lovable yet goofy man that never failed to make people laugh. As long as the stock to his films don't fade and people all over get to still enjoy his movies, we'll always remember the man who brought monsters to life, gave candy factories to poor little boys and was at Gilda's side.

RIP, funny man.

Welcome to America, where getting sick is a luxury.

Here in the good 'ol U.S. of A., if you have a heart attack, it will sink you into bankruptcy. Having a kid is the cost of a fairly-new car. And if you're like me and collapsed at an airport, it'll cost you thousands.

Yes, thankfully we have Obamacare and it's helped somewhat, but it's nowhere as good as having what people in England, Japan, Canada and other civilized nations around the world have and that's free healthcare.

Now, if your kid has an allergic reaction to something, prepare to pay up.

Mylan Pharmaceuticals, the makers of EpiPen, are under fire because the cost of the popular drug has skyrocketed 500% since 2009. And yet, it's CEO, Heather Bresch is making the rounds, telling people that she too is upset that the drug's price has gone up from $100 to over $600. This was after Mylan bought out EpiPen from Merck.

EpiPen is a pen-shaped device that shoots adrenaline to the human body to help fight allergic reactions to certain foods. For many parents whose children are allergic to things such as eggs, nuts and other things, it's a life-saver.

Sadly, like most drugs, EpiPen has an expiration date and with its skyrocketing cost, many are wondering if expired medicine will still help their sick children. But with Heather Bresch's skyrocketing salary, many have everything to worry about. When EpiPen was bought by Mylan in 2009, she was paid $2 million per year. Now, it's over $18 million yearly. She's the daughter of West Virginia US Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat. It's proof that both Democrats and Republicans must be held accountable in a situation like this.

You know, while Heather Bresch gets to sit on her wealthy ass in her nice house, there's a parent out there hardly making ends meet whose kid is in danger of eating something that will make them sick. Sadly, Bresch claims that they're going to hand out coupons to help, but that's not good enough. Yet, people in Canada are only paying $12 for a shot of EpiPen.

For now, there are a few alternatives, like Adrenaclick and there are some alternatives coming out, too. Soon, EpiPen will be a thing of the past since there will be alternatives on the market.

Instead a shot of adrenaline in the thigh, Heather Bresch will be getting a kick in her stinky-ass rich cunt.

8.25.16 Bee-otch of the Day: Cumulus Media

Bee-otched For: making a poorboy out of Joe Volk

Radio is one sad little bitch.

After 28 years on the air, Joe Volk is off the air at popular active rock station WKQZ/Z93 out of Midland/Bay City/Saginaw, MI. He was the co-host of the long-running Joe and the Poorboy program. On Monday, his current "Poorboy", Adam Shilling announced to listeners that he's doing the show solo because of "circumstances beyond his control".

There's no known reason why Volk was let go since neither Z93 parent Cumulus nor Volk himself has said why.

Volk had been station morning host since 1990 but also did a Saturday night program called "The Captain" that was quite edgy since, well, he talked about pussy all the time. Needless to say, he was an institution in mid-Michigan.

The apparent firing of Volk comes months after sister station WHNN 96.1 dropped its popular classic hits/oldies format for adult contemporary and morning duo of Johnny Burke and Blondie. The two sued Cumulus because of age discrimination since both are in their 50s. However, Cumulus sued them both because they moved their show to the internet.

There's no word on what will happen to Z93's morning slot, though there are rumors that Cumulus wants more stations to have syndicated programming in the morning. Already, Bob and Tom air on sister Wheelz 104.5. So who knows what Cumulus has up their pathetic little sleeve?

It's amazing that The Cloud bought out Citadel simply because of their archaic mistakes. Now, they're making those same mistakes. Look at KLQ here in Grand Rapids: they dumped Stern, had massive turnover with their jocks and even added shitty music that didn't fit their format. Guess what? They're gone for good. Their audience went over to WGRD, Sirius or the internet.

You see, rock fans are either easy or hard to please. In my case, I'm easy to please when I have access to a nice, kickass rock station. Sadly, I was forced to live in the radio hellhole of northern Michigan. The only decent rock station northern Michigan has is Rock 105, but it has its problems: small playlist, always too late adding new music and a shitty morning show host who defamed me on a public message board. Oh, the fact that their signal sucks in Traverse City doesn't help, either. I was near downtown a few weeks ago and their signal was scratchy. Thank God I have an auxiliary jack on my stereo and a Bluetooth connector. Pandora rocks!

In the end, all I can say is that as long as terrestrial radio fucks over their listeners, it explains why Pandora has a better stock price. Just sayin'.

8.24.16 Bee-otches of the Day: doctors that over-prescribe medicine

One door down, two more to go.

This past weekend was a sad one for rock music as Matt Roberts, one of the co-founders and guitarist for the band 3 Doors Down died of an apparent prescription drug overdose. He was just 38.

Roberts was a member of the southern rock band from its beginning  20 years ago to 2012 when he left the band because of anxiety issues. According to his father, he believed that he overdosed on the meds that his docs sent him.

This isn't the first time 3DD has battled prescription drug issues. In 2013, founding bassist Todd Harrell was dismissed from the band after he caused an accident that killed a man. He was under the influence of prescription drugs. The judge in Harrell's trial lambasted his doctor for giving him way too many pain pills, which included Oxycodone, Oxycontin and Xanax.

Roberts and Harrell, along with lead singer and former drummer Brad Arnold formed 3 Doors Down in 1996. Just a few years later, the band - now with five members - scored huge hits with "Kryptonite", "Loser", "It's Not My Time" and their latest hit, the ironically named "Still Alive".

Sometimes, I wonder if there's a good doctor anymore. A few years ago, like Matt Roberts, I battled anxiety. I went to a doctor who told me that I was OK, but as time progressed, I noticed that I was off-balance. I told my family and they told me that my grandfather had an inner ear disease for years, which I thought was passed down to me. Well, I went back to the same doc and he told me to take Celexa and if my anxiety worsens, he gave me some Xanax, too.

I did see an ear doctor who ended up taking out some nasty, gooey ear wax out of me and simply told me to wash my ears out with hydrogen peroxide once per week. Problem solved, but the sad thing was, was that I was still popping Celexa. Because I was on an antidepressant, I couldn't drink alcohol. I called my doc, telling me that I wanted to wean myself off Celexa. He told me that if I did, my anxiety would come back and I would regret it.

Guess what? I weaned myself off of Celexa and I feel good. My ears were loaded with wax, plain and simple. Oh, and that doctor? Well, he made headlines when he abruptly closed his practice without notice. I still have no doctor to call my own, regretfully. But, I feel fine.

When I started taking Celexa, my family told me that docs are quick these days to give any drug to anybody. But, they're as addictive to heroin and they're more deadly than (gasp!) cannabis. So maybe if Matt Roberts took the Willie Nelson route (and he's still going strong at 83), he'd be still alive right now (and there's no pun intended).

Instead, he took Kryptonite.

I know that it's not nice to spit on the dead, but it's OK to make exceptions.

In the case of Louis Jay Pearlman, he did two horrible, horrible things: 1) he swindled $300 million from people in a huge Ponzi scheme and 2) he gave us 'NSync and The Backstreet Boys.

Lou was the owner of Transcontinental Records and basically used douchebaggy teenage boys in the 1990s like Justin Timberfake to make millions of bucks from girls that hadn't grown pubes yet. Because of Lou, I, being a fan of hard rock and metal forced to live in a part of Michigan where radio was loaded with shitty music as-is, was flipping the dial more often thanks to shitty boy bands left and right. I was thankful that Hot Topic just opened because I ended up buying a t-shirt that read "'NSUCK" (I also bought a shirt that read "Spear Britney" that I still wear from time to time, holes and all).

Thankfully, both 'NSync and The Backstreet Boys broke up and their fans had moved on to slitting their wrists to My Chemical Romance. Lou was still making money from his little Ponzi scheme, which lead him to a 25 year jail sentence that started in 2008. However, he had a stroke in 2010. Maybe the eatin's good at the prison in Texarkana, TX. He died on Friday.

You know, even though I hated the boy bands he created, I'm glad that they sued the shit out of him and won. He was a sleazeball and judging by the many chins he had, it didn't shock me that he died at a kinda young age.

The moral of the story, I guess is that if you hear shitty music, somebody's going to jail.

Bee-otched For: ruining my Saturday

---

This past weekend, I was planning to go to the theater to see the new computer animated movie for us grown-ups called "Sausage Party".
Instead, the closest I got to an actual Sausage Party was the fact that I ate bacon for breakfast on Saturday.

Saturday was looking like a good movie day since it was going to rain. I was looking at the radar, but then, I saw that there were tornado warnings in Allegan and Van Buren Counties, both south of here. I told myself, "I'll just go to a later show after the storm passes, just in case". I decided to do my laundry and then, I heard the siren.

Kent County was under a Tornado Warning.

I went back to my apartment where I had my TV on WOOD-TV 8. Ellen Bacca and Kyle Underwood were on the air tracking the tornado, which trashed the town of Bangor and was heading towards downtown Grand Rapids. By about 4pm, the warnings expired and Grand Rapids itself suffered damage. Uprooted trees, damaged business signs and trees falling on structures were all from the four tornadoes that the National Weather Service believed hit the area. They believed that the strongest was an EF-1.

According to WOOD-TV 8's Bill Steffen - who has been a meteorologist for over 40 years - this was the worst tornado to hit the area since the 1980 Kalamazoo tornado that ravaged downtown and killed five people. Thankfully, there wasn't even an injury during Saturday's tornado.

Of course, the fact that many towns here in Michigan all have sirens and weather-predicting technology have all advanced since the days TV station weathermen wearing real estate salesmen jackets slapped magnets onto a map helped a lot in making sure nobody was killed during the tornado. The fact that cell phones all have weather alerts have weather alerts helped, too.

The real heroes were indeed the forecasters warning people to stay inside and go into the basement if possible. True, WOOD-TV got a slap in the wrist, IMHO when they returned to Olympic Volleyball when the tornado system left Grand Rapids. It wasn't out of their viewing area yet and they were telling everybody to flip over to sisters WOTV or WXSP even though not everybody watching with rabbit ears can get those stations. Nonetheless, they got the award for best storm coverage.

As an added bonus, Terri the Whor-er, DeBoer wasn't there to wreck the breaking coverage. All she's good for is hosting that awful eightWest show for old yentas.

As for "Sausage Party". well, I wasn't going to venture out to the cinema if the power's out for some and the roads could be bad. Better safe than sorry. Hell, if I have to wait until it starts showing at Woodland, may it be so.

Better to wait to have the Sausage Party vs. being roadkill.

Watching the NBC Nightly News last night, yes, the big story was the fiasco involving Ryan Lochte and his stolen goods. But the other big news stories involved the horrific flooding in Indiana and the wildfires ravaging California.

I know, this type of shit's been going on for ages. It reminded me of when Johnny Carson called David Letterman to say that the mudslides were putting the fires out in California over 20 years ago. But in Louisiana's case, the last thing they need is more rain.

Thousands of homes have been buried because of flooding. Several times, I've had to see the painful images of a man pulling up the water-damaged photo of his daughters. Thousands of people in America are suffering and many don't even have insurance.

What's worse is that global warming is still a huge topic and the media doesn't talk much about it. Personally, I think it's because of this.

Since Quilted Northern, and Sparkle, along with Brawny, Georgia Pacific and so many others are all made by the Koch brothers, that explains why. For years, they've practically told the media, "we advertise on your fucking show. If you talk about global warming, we're taking our money elsewhere."

Of course, the Kochs are one of the world's largest polluters, adding more shit to our fragile environment. Thankfully, there's other products that are pro-environment, especially with the Seventh Generation brand.

Maybe if we all made the switch, the world would be a safer place.

It was the granddaddy of all political gab shows: The McLaughlin Group.

Every week since New Years Day, 1982, Americans have gotten their weekly fill of political roundtable talk from the popular show aired mostly on PBS stations, but also on a few network stations as well. McLaughlin wasn't famous until later in life; he was a Jesuit priest. However, he ended up being President Nixon's speechwriter and stood by the troubled president during the Watergate crisis. He hosted a radio talk show in the early 80s, which led to The McLaughlin Group's debut in 1982.

Although TMG was mostly conservative, there were a few liberals that were commentators on the show, though they seemed to be outnumbered because of MacLaughlin, regulars such as Pat Buchanan and recently Tom Rogan. The constant bickering on the show between panelists helped to pave the way for future roundtable shows, especially on cable.

In recent weeks, McLaughlin looked more and more frail and the show went into repeats recently. Last week's show had Pat Buchannan moderating, announcing that for the first time in the show's history, John was absent from the show. Dr. McLaughlin died yesterday at the age of 89 with no reason given for his passing.

Now, I didn't totally agree with Dr. McLaughlin's politics, but I'll admit that TMG was good for a chuckle or two when I watched. But if it weren't for John McLaughlin, we wouldn't have Dana Carvey's awesome impersonation of him.

Just imagine:

McLaughlin: "ISSUE ONE! Do girls poop? I ask you Pat Buchannan!"
Pat Buchannan: "John, that's a stupid question, I've changed baby's diap-"
McLaughlin: "ELEANOR!"
Eleanor Clift: "John, every morning, I eat a bran muffin with my coffee. Of cour-"
McLaughlin: "CLARENCE!"
Clarence Page: "John, you know that I love girls booty, but the point is-"
McLaughlin: "ROGON!"
Tom Rogan: "Pfffft.... Really dude-"
McLaughlin: "WRONG! The answer is that most women are too pretty to be pictured sitting on a toilet. Therefore, the answer is no. NEXT ISSUE!"

Well, John McLaughlin is gone. At least he gave us great moment on his show and gave another person for Dana Carvey to impersonate.

Bye bye, Dr. McLaughlin.

As we enter the final week of the Summer Olympics in Rio, NBC is probably miffed over their piss-poor ratings and botched coverage.

But hey, the good news is that we get to see some Grade A ass from the female athletes.

The scantily-clad suits that the Olympians wear are probably the closest we'll ever get to see to female nudity on American TV in this post Janet Jackson nip-slip era. Amazingly, BBC and CBC - two government-owned networks - are friendlier towards skin than NBC. Trust me; I've seen nudity on both networks before.

But one person had enough.

Some douchebag named James Carroll wrote on Twitter that he's sick of the clothes the athletes are wearing. "Why has NBC decided that beach volleyball is fascinating? I've seen enough of Kerri Walsh's sideboob.", said Carroll. "Scantily clad = big ratings? Please."

Guess what? Mrs. Walsh-Jennings took to Twitter and gave us this: "You're obviously not watching. There's none of that going on. Not even close"

Mic dropped.

You know, I think James Carroll is either A) gay or B) part of some asshole religious group trying to bring more so-called decency to TV, even though crap like the PAX Network bombed. Personally, if I had kids, I'd rather have them watch a female swimmer's swimsuit wedged up her asscrack vs. Touched By An Angel.

Now, I'm not a fan of mommies, but for being 38 with three kids, Kerri don't look too bad in a bikini. My advice to ANY woman is that if they have it, flaunt it. Don't allow some dork on Twitter to tell you what you can and can't wear. What should those who play beach volleyball wear? Big, frilly dresses?

At the end of the day, if you don't like the Olympics, change the channel. At least NBC's not putting black bars over their butts, or else I would proudly change the channel in protest and find a pirated site carrying BBC or CBC's coverage of the games.

Anybody that blasts sideboob or booty during these Olympic games stinks much worse that what comes out of those girl's butts.

Long before North Clark was telling people to fill out a credit app so he could send a vee-hickle out to them, Terry Hanks was telling people from all directions to drive all the way to his Chevy ranch in Lansing and the Devos family was sinking their teeth into their chain of Fox Motors dealerships, there was Bill Marsh.

A simpleton from Pennsylvania, Marsh was just 22 when his father's illness persuaded him to quit law school and take over the family Ford dealership in Newtown, PA. Marsh ran the dealership for 24 years when he heard about a failing Buick dealership in Traverse City. He sold the Ford dealership (and thankfully, it's still called Bill Marsh Ford) and took over the Buick dealership.  Within one year, the dealership went from near-failure to being the top car seller in the Cherry Capital.

Bill Marsh Buick was so popular that eventually, they acquired other nameplates in town: Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, RAM, Saturn, GMC and Hyundai. The Marshes also own the Ford/Chrysler/Dodge shop in Kalkaska and once ran a Ford dealership in Honor.

Though Bill Marsh himself rarely made TV appearances, his voice was heard on radio ads for his dealerships on the radio with the tagline ".....and thank you."

In 2005, Marsh sold his dealerships to four of his sons. In the past year, he suffered with Alzheimer's, which took his life last week at age 80.

In the age of here today, gone today car dealers that end up getting swallowed by another nameless dealer, Bill Marsh is simply one of those dealers where there's people who have been there for years and treat their customers like family. My cousin has worked at Marsh's for years and has climbed the ladder there. My grandparents bought their cars there and loved the service. My grandmother owned a 1993 Buick Skylark for many years that I loved. My Dad eventually got it and owned it until he traded it in many years ago.

Of course, there was a controversy late last year when Bill Marsh, Jr. announced that they would no longer donate to the United Way because they supported Planned Parenthood. Marsh, Jr. proclaimed that the family was pro-life and did not appreciate the now-proven false rumors that the organization sold baby parts for profit. Many woman's rights supporters boycotted Marsh, but one pro-choicer lent his support for the family: Michael Moore.

In an interview, Moore - who urged people to donate to the United Way after Marsh's boycott - claimed that he bought his cars from Marsh over the years and still would support them simply because they provided good service.

True, hate the Marsh's for their politics, but love them because they do a good job selling cars. It's a tough decision when you want to choose the lesser of the two evils: a place that treats you like family or agree with your politics. Sometimes it's both, but sometimes it's none. But great service will always prevail. Maybe that's also why people have a hankering for Chick-fil-A, anti-gay politics or not.

But in the end, I have to say that Bill Marsh and his family treated my family quite well over the years. Rest well, sir.

In the world of broadcasting, people define "evil" with words such as "Clear Channel", "Comcast", "Cumulus" and "Fox".

People think that northern Michigan is pretty damn lucky. Most of the radio stations up north are indeed locally owned and even two of the four major TV stations, CBS WWTV 9&10 and WFQX Fox 32 are locally operated by Heritage Broadcasting.

But just because a TV or radio station is proud to be "100% locally owned and operated" doesn't mean that they'll take wonderful care of their workers.

Right now, two broadcasters - Heritage and Northern Star Broadcasting, the owner of Classic Rock The Bear, Big Country, EZ 95-5/106-3 and Rock 105 - are being sued by ex-employees claiming that they spat in their faces for having some type of disability.  The website UPBreakingNews.com reported on the lawsuits last week.

First off, Heritage. Last month, former station General Manager Bill Kring filed a suit against Heritage, which is owned by Mario Iacobelli, which has owned WWTV since 1989 and WFQX since 2007. Kring alleges that the station fired him because he was on medical leave, a violation of the Family Leave Act. Kring was placed on leave earlier this year because he begged a female employee to take her clothes off while he was staying at the Grand Traverse Resort in a room reserved by Heritage as part of the company Christmas party. Kring attended a meeting in Iacobelli's condominium in Cadillac that was also attended by his son Peter and a close Iacobelli friend, 9&10 News Director Kevin Dunaway. The three agreed to have Kring seek counseling during his leave. Kring's doctor claimed that he did suffer from mild depression and mild anxiety. After Kring's 90-day leave, the station promptly fired him. Now, Kring is suing the station, claiming that they violated the Family and Medical Leave Act saying that they didn't give him the full benefits he was entitled to. He is now suing the company for damages.

Amazingly enough, while GM at Heritage, Kring had a salary of $375,000 per year. Plus, the station gave him a BMW. Yet, many of 9&10's employees were being paid in peanuts.

Then, there's Northern Star. Also last month, former ad salesperson Kimberlee McCardell filed a lawsuit against the company because she was let go because of a disability she suffered from a car accident five years ago. McCardell suffered a serious brain injury from the accident that left her unable to multitask and unable to concentrate. She did seek a physician to help and took a two week leave of absence. However, company GM Mary Reynolds fired her as a result.

The suit claims that McCardell wants to be paid until she is 67 years old, back pay, attorney's fees and so on.

However, Northern Star won't be around much longer.

Recently, Mary and her husband Del announced that they are selling Northern Star to Black Diamond Broadcasting, based out of the Detroit area for a little south of $2 million. The reason for the sale is because Mary herself has had some health issues, suffering several strokes and a broken neck. Maybe if Ms. McCardell wins her suit, the Reynoldses will pony up a few bucks for her.

You know, I've never been totally fond of Mario Iacobelli nor the programming skills of Del Reynolds. First off, I feel sadly embarrassed that 9&10 was my local CBS affiliate growing up. They did gain brownie points in the late 90s by airing the Howard Stern Radio Show Saturday nights, but canceling the show for (drumroll please) INFOMERCIALS! Even worse, some of the infomericals were from the good 'ol NRA, which aired just WEEKS after the Columbine shootings. Stay classy, 9&10.

9&10 has been known for occasionally pre-empting CBS programming, especially during an election year. In 2006, the station even pre-empted a documentary about 9/11, claiming that they "would be fined $10 million by the FCC", yet, they apparently aired a movie and loaded the ad spots with political ads.

Let's bear in mind that 9&10 is in a "shared services agreement" with crosstown Fox 32, which is owned by some guy in Arizona. Rumor has it that the man is a close pal of Mario's and is paying him to be the de facto owner of the station. Heritage programs, sells ads and does newscasts on Fox 32. Some of the paid programs on Fox 32 include religious shows such as The 700 Club and Kenneth Copeland, who both use religion to scare people into giving them money to feed their luxurious lifestyles. Legally, Heritage cannot own two TV stations in northern Michigan because the market is too small per FCC guidelines.

Now, I know that a lot of folks think that the Reynoldses are nice, caring people. But sadly, they lovingly pissed off the hard rock and metal community a few years ago when they shitcanned their most-popular station, Real Rock 105 and 95-5 for simply Rock 105. They canned the popular Free Beer and Hot Wings show and replaced it with Cartman, who sounds like a puker Top 40 jock (and under the name "Fife", he just is, too).  95.5, of course is now "EZ 95-5", which has no real buzz in northern Michigan. Personally, I think Rock 105 is the blandest active rock station in Michigan. They wait too long to add any new rock and I swear to God, every time I listen to their web stream, they're playing "Heavy is the Head" by Zac Brown Band. You know there's other songs out there, right guys?

It's not known what will happen to the NSB stations when Black Diamond takes over, but they do own two stations in the Houghton Lake area: WUPS 98.5 and 92.1 The Twister. I know one of the guys from BD is a former exec from WRIF in Detroit, so who knows?

All I can say is that I'm happy that there's FINALLY some new blood ready to kick in up north with Black Diamond, but from the looks of things, the Iacobellis may own 9&10 and Fox 32 forever. Besides, they're remodeling a building south of Cadillac by US-131 that will house their new studios. This will of course end 50 years of employees driving all the way to the middle of nowhere and parking under the tower, dodging falling ice chunks as the snow melts from the tower in the springtime.

At least the Iacobellis are doing something right.

8.10.16 Bee-otch of the Day: Tim Tebow

Yesterday, the sports world suffered from an SMH moment.

Tim Tebow, former quarterback for the Denver Broncos and player for umpteen different NFL teams has announced that he's done with football, at least for now.

His new vice in life? Baseball.

Yep! After being rejected from every team he's ever played in, Tebow is giving America's pastime a try. This week, he's inviting several teams over to check himself play. In high school, Tebow batted an impressive .494. However, he hasn't picked up a bat since high school.

The reason for Tebow wanting to play baseball is simple: his football career is over and he needs something to fall back on other than being a commentator for ESPN. But he needs to remember that just because you batted almost a .500 in high school doesn't mean that you can do the same at your slightly advanced age.

One reason why I think people hate Tim Tebow is simply because of his overexposure of his faith. After all, he and his mother made a banned Super Bowl commercial for the right-wing hate group Focus on the Family. Just sayin', it's not nice to tackle a woman, especially if it's your mother.

Of course, Tim's mother got viciously sick while pregnant with Tim and doctors urged her to get an abortion. Being a missionary, she declined, risking Tim's life. Well, Tim miraculously was born healthy and was raised to be a wacko Jebus freak. Now, I'm not bashing Jesus, but the type of Christian that he was raised to be is, well scary. One, he was homeschooled. I've read that a TON of kids who are homeschooled end up abused and even killed by their ultra-strict parents.

Now, I think Tim's mom is lucky that he turned out healthy and OK. Sadly, there's a lot of children born with severe illness or even without parents. If Tim's parents were rich, that's one thing, but when kids are born into poverty, there's many who wish they were dead.

Personally, if Tim kept his mouth shut about his faith and focused on his playing skills, he'd be the Lebron James of football. But changing careers because the NFL made you its red-headed stepchild shows that sometimes, he just didn't have much of a prayer.

Maybe he just needed to keep his mouth shut and pray a little harder.
