A great man has left us.
Nelson Mandela wasn't just a role model for his fellow Africans, but all of us. He ended the apartheid that tore apart his nation and allowed black people like himself to run his nation. He served over 20 years in a tiny jail cell, but he was also able to move mountains from that small space.
Sadly, many - especially on the right - wanted Mandela to stay in jail, but he was a (gulp) "terrorist".
Under the Reagan administration, Mandela's African National Congress was a terrorist group, and it wasn't removed from the list until 2008. When Mandela visited the US many years ago, Senator Jesse Helms turned his back when he visited. Jerry Falwell, former VP Dick Cheney and Pat Robertson all attacked Mandela in the 1980's, claiming that overturning South Africa's mostly-white government would be catastrophic for other nations, the US included.
In Robertson's case, he felt that the ANC was pro-communism and anti-Israel.
Well, the right didn't get their wish. Nelson Mandela was freed, became president of South Africa and didn't turn it into a commie nation. Instead, he brought people of all colors together as one.
Of course, after years of poor health, Mandela died last week at the age of 95. He left a legacy of peace and togetherness not just for South Africa, but the world as well. What the religious leaders did was scare people into donating more money to their causes. In Robertson's case, he owned diamond mines in Kenya and was friends with dictators who supported hatred and bigotry.
And that's NOT what God wants, in my humble opinion.

The MPAA is at it again.
For years, the film organization has been seemingly more favorable towards violence over sex. For an example: if a film shows a woman's pubes for an x-period of time, it gets an NC-17. But if it contains graphic gore for the entire length of the film, it only gets an R.
Needless to say, it pisses off a lot of people in Hollywood, and Evan Rachel Wood is one of them.
In her latest film, Charlie Countryman co-starring Shia LeBeouf, there's a scene where a woman receives oral sex from a man. However, the scene was cut to obtain an R-rating, so Ms. Wood - a 26-year-old mother - took to Twitter. In her long rant that took more than 140 characters, she bitched at the organization for editing the explicit scene, but allowing a scene where a man's head gets blown off intact.
"After seeing the new cut of ‘Charlie Countryman,’ I would like to share my disappointment with the MPAA, who thought it was necessary to censor a woman’s sexuality once again. The scene where the two main characters make 'love' was altered because someone felt that seeing a man give a woman oral sex made people 'uncomfortable,' but the scenes in which people are murdered by having their heads blown off remained intact and unaltered. "This is a symptom of a society that wants to shame women and put them down for enjoying sex, especially when (gasp) the man isn't getting off as well! It’s hard for me to believe that had the roles been reversed it still would have been cut or had the female character been raped it would have been cut. It’s time for people to grow up. Accept that women are sexual beings. Accept that some men like pleasuring women. Accept that women don't have to just be [used] and say thank you. We are allowed and entitled to enjoy ourselves. It’s time we put our foot down. Thanks for listening."
It's not known if Wood is the one receiving the lickjob in the film, but she did show boobs and butt in the Beatles-esque Across the Universe, which did get a PG-13 despite also containing an F-bomb, a lot more profanity and some violence.
The truth is, SHE'S RIGHT! Why does society think that it's OK for us to see a dude die versus a man and a woman enjoying their sexuality? I'd rather watch a naked chick run around uncensored over blood and guts any day of the week. Pussy makes me happy. Murder makes me hate the world even more.
Ya know, last week, I was watching some CSI show on CBS and they showed a dead dude in a bathtub. However, earlier that day, I was watching The Mechanic on USA and they blurred out a woman's butt as she got out of bed naked after a sex scene. Stupid.
I think it's time to re-think what's right and what's wrong. It's been a year since the Sandy Hook tragedy and we still have shootings galore. Hell, there was even a shooting at my local shopping mall yesterday, and now I'm kinda scared to go there. It's amazing that since Sandy Hook, our Republican-run, NRA-fed government has done NOTHING to stop it. Yet, when Janet Jackson ACCIDENTALLY showed her right tit during the Super Bowl, hate groups such as the Parents TV Council took action and the FCC raised fines on so-called "indecency".
Folks, sex is good, violence is bad. Plain and simple. Thankfully, there's two movies coming out - Nymphomaniac and 50 Shades of Grey - that are destined for NC-17 ratings. I think if people actually went and saw these movies instead of the blood and guts that the MPAA and mainstream theatre chains say is OK, it will change the way movies are made. It's time for people to wake up. If a woman wants a man to lick her privates on the silver screen, I'd say "go for it".
Just make sure that the man is me. :)

Folks, I'm happy to say this, and I'm not going to mince words: right wing hate talk radio is dying.
Yep! Mike Huckabee is quitting his show and so is Geraldo Rivera. But come the beginning of 2014, one major host might see a drastic reduction in audience, and that's Sean Hannity.
It appears that Hannity's popularity is indeed dying. His Fox News Channel show was demoted to 10 p.m. and Cumulus is dumping him on all of their stations. What's more sad for him is that his New York flagship, WABC is Cumulus-owned (he'll probably end up on WOR, which is Clear Channel-owned). WJR in Detroit is one of the casualties; there's a rumor that it might move to Salem's WDTK 1400 The Patriot, a station with only 1/50 of the power WJR has.
Now, the Wallbanger is also getting a demotion in my old hometown of Traverse City, MI. WTCM NewsTalk 580 - which has carried Hannity for over a decade - will move his show from its current live slot of 3-6 p.m. to 9p-midnight after the holidays. In its slot will be a new live and local talk show co-hosted by Dave Barr, Bill Froelich and Colleen Wares. The move will mean that WTCM will then air a whopping eight hours of live and local programming, alongside Ron Jolly (7-10 a.m.) and Norm Jones (10a-noon). I'll betcha that the format of the show will be slightly similar to the Chamber of Commerce talk heard on Jolly and Jones' shows, but I'd rather listen to the director of the local branch of Northwestern Savings Bank and Trust teach people how to open up a checking account versus a narrow-minded dipshit who hates all Democrats and uses race to call for the impeachment of President Obama.
To add more ridicule for Hannity, WTCM - like most other AM stations in America - powers down at night from 50,000 watts to 1,100. The station booms well into Canada during the day (with a massive null to the South to protect CKWW Windsor, of course), but at night, it only goes north to Petoskey.
(Oh, and Hannity replaces Dennis Miller. Wait, he's still on the air?)
Look, WTCM and owner Ross Biederman are doing a wonderful thing by making the station more focused on Traverse City and less about what some blowhard from New York thinks. True, Rush and Mark Levin seem to be untouched by the changes (AFAIK), but the less right-winged hate 580 spews, the better. TC might not be ready for a 24/7 live and local talk station, but it's a start. Besides, although Republican, TC is quite moderate politically. At least you can still go to the strip club in town and see actual naked girls while the vicious right-wing BS of Grand Rapids forced all the girls to cover up. Plus, there's no billionaires in TC who demand that the public kiss their lily-white ass.
I heard from a source that WTCM pays Clear Channel $30,000 per year to clear Hannity. Since Barr, Froelich and Wares are already on the payroll, I doubt if they're going to bump up their salaries all that much to make a lot of difference. If Hannity's moving to such a late timeslot, chances are that he'll soon join the WTCM Island of Misfit Talkers with the likes of Dr. Laura, Dr. Dean Edell, G. Gordon Liddy, Michael Medved, Bruce Williams, Jim Bohannon and (I'm real sorry to do this) Merlin Dumbrille.
Now, they need to shitcan the sports format on 1310 and give TC a good progressive talker.

In the early 1990's, Rush Limbaugh was on a roll.
He had a hit radio show, a daily 30-minute talk show and a few books, The Way Things Ought to Be and See, I Told You So. His popularity started to wane in the late 90's until Monicagate hit, and boom, El Rushbo was cool again.
True, he's had his controversies, especially with his drug abuse and the fact that almost every advertiser he had dropped the program after he called law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" for promoting birth control under the ACA. But now, Rush is back to being in the literary word with a brand new book.
And guess who it's for? Teens.
Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims was released just a few days before Halloween. So far, the book has done well. In the 224-page book, Rush plays a variant of Paul Revere as he goes back into history as he sails with the pilgrims on the Mayflower. The book is supposed to be aimed for teens, but the question is, would I allow my teen to read a history book written by a pill-popping, sexist teabagger? I think not. Hell, if they read this book in schools, I would yank my kid out of there.
Personally, if I had a teen and it was forced to read Rush Revere, I'd have him or her read Private Parts or Miss America instead. I know, those books are kinda dated now, but I'd rather have my young one read about a man who cares about people like us, Howard Stern over an asshole who is nothing more than a hypocritical pile of shit who should have been incarcerated for his Oxy addiction. But thanks to his Republican buddies, he's a free man, still delivering his swill on the radio, making shitty tea and now, brainwashing teens.

Maybe, just maybe there's a God after all.
One of television's top televangelists, Paul Crouch is dead. The co-founder of Trinity Broadcasting Network - created in 1973 by Couch, wife Jan and Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker - died on Saturday from heart failure at age 79. While many of TBN's fans praise Dr. Crouch for spreading the word of Jesus to a worldwide audience, he was just another spawn of Satan.
The son of a preacher, Crouch started his TV career managing KRSD, the NBC affiliate in Rapid City, SD in the late 1950's. Under Crouch's guidance, KRSD was one of the weakest NBC affiliates in America because of its poor signal. It signed off for good in 1971, leaving Rapid City without an NBC station for five years.
After stints producing films for the Assemblies of God Church and managing a few more stations, Crouch, his wife Jan and the Bakkers created TBN in 1973. In 1974, TBN purchased their first TV station in Los Angeles and from there on, they've signed on a few more stations and a ton of tiny translator stations in towns big and small.
But like the Bakkers, Jimmy Swaggart and others, Paul Crouch had his demons. Sick ones, too.
In 1998, Crouch paid a former employee $425,000 for making claims that he was ordered to have sex with Crouch to keep his job. According to Crouch, he paid the male worker to avoid a long and painful court case. Now, IMHO, this is proof that Crouch might have been gay, even though he and his fellow preachers all spoke out against homosexuality. Crouch's accuser even took a lie detector test, but the results were never revealed.
But if there's one reason to hate Paul Crouch, it's because before he died, his family became embroiled in a huge scandal. It was revealed that Paul and Jan live in huge gobs of luxury, including his-and-her mansions in Newport Beach, CA and even a house for their dogs. What's sad is that many who give to TBN are on fixed incomes or poor and they are easily brainwashed into thinking that if they give, God will bless them. But since the Crouches make over a million bucks per year, it's worthy of making the man upstairs shake his head.
But if there's a reason to hate Paul Crouch even more, it's the fact that he allowed a rapist to run free. Several years ago, TBN had a conference where their staffers were all staying at a hotel. One of Crouch's granddaughters - Carra, 13 at the time and now 20 - was staying in a room to herself when she allowed a TBN staffer in. He was 30 and carrying a bottle of wine (TBN gave their employees an allowance for alcohol). Well, he gave Carra some wine and while she was asking him to leave the room, he gave her some water to relax her. Immediately, she passed out, and woke up several hours later with blood all over her bedsheets and the man laying next to her. She locked herself in the bathroom, screaming at him to leave. When Carra went to Jan about the incident, she told her that it was her fault, even though she was just 13. TBN did fire the man, but they never charged him with rape, supposedly to maintain their squeaky-clean image. Carra herself wasn't even allowed to talk to police about the incident, which has caused her great mental distress.
Like about 99-point-infinity-nine percent of all televangelists, Paul Crouch was a scumbag, plain and simple. I feel sorry for those who think that he's going to help them make it to Heaven just by giving to them. I have an uncle who gives to them, and he's nowhere near rich. I've told him several times to save his money and that the Crouches are too rich for their own good. Wanna help somebody? Give to a homeless person or somebody down and out.
And right now, Paul Crouch DEFINITELY doesn't need the money.
