Here in Michigan, we're lucky to live around plenty of fresh water, a lot of it from four out of the five Great Lakes.
Too bad the people of Flint won't be able to have any of it unless they pay up.
This week, the State of Michigan closed the distribution spots where people in the troubled city could pick up free water. Of course, the city's residents have been stricken with polluted water caused when governor Rick Snyder ordered the city to switch their source of water from Lake Huron to the Flint River several years ago. Since the Flint River was a dumping ground for GM and other plants in town for over a century, the water rotted the pipes, causing residents to use bottled water.
Meanwhile at the same time, Snyder has allowed Nestle to pump even more water from their plant near Canadian Lakes by Big Rapids, 100 miles from Flint. The company only pays the state $200 per year to make BILLIONS off of our water.
You know, it's sad that we have a governor who sings the praises of Michigan's recovery and yet the people of Flint have heard the same shit over and over. I can't wait til November so we can force the Repukes out and get our state and country back in order.
Water is a human right, unlike the CEO of Nestle and even Rick Snyder think.
