One of the worst things about living here in Grand Rapids is the fact that the wealthy Hollanders are all buddies with the Repukes.
With the passing of Richard Devos last week, it was somewhat appropriate that vice president Mike Pence came to town.
The veep spoke at several places in town, including a Mill Steel plant and (yep) Amway Grand Hotel. I turned on the news at 6 p.m. tonight and the first thing they talked about was that Pence paid tribute to Devos in a lengthy speech.
Needless to say, it was dinnertime and I wanted to puke. The local media's asskissing of Devos and all of the "positive" things he did and not talk much about the bullshit he left made me happy that I escaped to the kitchen.
Of course, Pence and Devos deserved each other. Devos hated the LGBT community and as Indiana governor, Pence made it easier for Jebus freaks to judge against gays, i.e. not make wedding cakes for them and so on. Pence also talked about the economy and attacked Democrats like Debbie Stabenow for not supporting Drumpf's tax cuts.
Ya know, I remembered when a tornado hit west Michigan a few years ago, WOOD-TV 8 *SHOULD* have began the news with tornado coverage. Instead, they began the news with an interview with Pence talking about how he wants to eliminate Obamacare. As somebody who just paid $1,000 for surgery, I think it's sad that the Repukes want to fuck up our already-fucked up health care system. My stepmother is battling skin cancer and is paying shit tons of money since her deductible is $6,000.
The fact is that the November midterms are only two months away and we can make things hard for Drumpf and Pence. It's time to take America back and tell these bullies to piss off.
And yes, this means you, west Michigan.
