4.14.11 Bee-otch of the Day: Michael Grey

Name: Michael Grey
Age: ??
Occupation: radio hack
Last Seen: Grand Rapids, MI
Bee-otched For: having the door prepared to slam on his ass

---

It's official: Michael Grey is trading in Fred Meijer for Warren Buffet and Amway for Mutual of Omaha.

That's right! After nearly two decades of perfecting ruining two radio stations here in Grand Rapids, he's moving to Omaha next month to co-host an afternoon sports show on struggling KXSP-AM ESPN 590. His co-host will be Pete McIntyre, currently the sports anchor for the Stern clone Todd and Tyler Radio Empire morning show, heard on several rock stations in the Nebraska region.

In a major way, this is a step down for Grey since Grand Rapids is a larger market than Omaha, 67 vs. 72. Plus, KXSP is getting clobbered in the ratings in the sports department by Fox Sports-affiliated KOZN 1620 The Zone, which has a 3.1 vs. KXSP's puny .7.

But if the people in Omaha had the same mindset as those in Grand Rapids, they'd realize that Grey is nothing more than a homer. Bear in mind that he got shitcanned from WGRD because his morning show had horrid ratings (S&M, anybody?), plus the fact that his music selections at 'GRD really made the station a chick station. But thankfully, he was shown the door. However, good 'ol Matty Boy Hanlon gave him a chance despite the fact that he brought no audience with him to KLQ.

And tragically, the ratings showed it.

I remember hearing about the one year Grey hosted the Heavyweight Rock Challenge at the Intersection not long after he came to KLQ. He walked out on stage like the little princess he is and the hard rock and metal-loving crowd was booing him to tears. Suddenly, amidst the jeering and chants of "GO BACK TO GRD!", a few cheers immerged from the back. It was for ousted KLQ jock Bill Walters, standing at the bar, wearing the "Ron and Don Suck!" shirt I made for him. To prevent any ruckus, Intersection management politely showed him the door. However, being the whiny little bitch he is, Grey went to Hanlon immediately, cried on his lap, and Walters was fired from KLQ sister Z93 in Saginaw.

And meanwhile, guess what happened almost the second Grey left GRD? THEIR RATINGS SKYROCKETED! It's further proof that Grand Rapids loves their rock and loathes shitty chick pop.

Somehow, Grey was the sole KLQ jock to survive the transition to WBBL's move to the FM band. But still, nobody loves poor 'ol Mikey. GRD's Free Beer and Hot Wingsis frequently one of the market's top morning shows while Grey's morning program with Brett Bakita is nothing more than a joke. As a matter of fact, Grey reportedly was on the verge of tears on his show when a caller told him that FB&HW was beating him in the ratings.

But now, he's leaving town, and Grand Rapids won't miss him. After all, the other sports station in town, ESPN 96.1 has a 2.8 while WBBL is wafting with a 2.0. The Bubble's only saving grace is their coverage of Detroit sports while 96.1 has actual talent.

So in the end, Michael Grey's starting all over on a new slate. All I can say about him is this.

And yes, there's a reason why I chose that video: it has an image he can jerk off to.

4.13.11 Bee-otch of the Day: the birthers

Occupation: birthers

Bee-otched For: not shutting up about where the president was born

---

OK, Donald Trump, you found your birth certificate. But already, the world has told you "you're fired".

For years, people have bitched, whined and moaned over the fact that apparently President Obama doesn't have his birth certificate and that according to his late grandparents, he wasn't born on U.S. soil. Of course, one of the requirements to be president of the United States is that you must be born on U.S. territory. Obama's opponent in the 2008 election, John McCain was born in Panama to a military family, but he was born on the Canal Zone, which is determined to be U.S. soil.

Now, the President's half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng is defending her half-brother. On The Today Show, she said that the president has presented enough proof that he was born in Honolulu and not Kenya, where his father was from. Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham (and I still can't fathom why anybody would want to name their daughter Stanley) was an anthropologist and often traveled the world. She married the elder Barack in 1961, divorced him in 1964 and was married to Indonesian Lolo Soetoro from 1965 until 1980.
But, guess what I dug up from President Obama's father's Wikipedia article?

Obama Sr. and Dunham's son, Barack Obama II, was born in Honolulu on 4 August 1961 at the old Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital—a predecessor of the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children.[25] His birth was announced in The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, with his parents' address listed as 6085 Kalanianaole Highway in the Kuliouou neighborhood of Honolulu, seven miles east of the university—the rented home of Dunham's parents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham.[26] Soon after his birth, Dunham took her son to Seattle, Washington, where she took classes at the University of Washington from September 1961 to June 1962.[28]

Checkmate.

I think it's sad that these birthers only say that what the president is doing is illegal only because they want this country to remain under the throes of the Bush administration by spending our taxpayer money and time on whether or not Obama is an American. How about using that money to prove that Bush was a war criminal so he and his staff can rot in jail for the rest of their lives? It's sick that Obama has more presidential credentials than that of Bush's, and yet, he's the bad guy only because of lies spread by Rush Limbaugh and the Fox News Channel. Hell, Clinton was impeached because of an intern. Bush got off scot-free even though his policies killed 4,000-plus people.

I know, I know, now we're stuck in Libya. But hey, the economy's recovering, and that's more important than any war we got suckered in. No president's gonna be perfect, sadly. But, if we push a little harder each time, maybe Obama can be the next FDR. Hell, that side of him saved GM.

But as long as we've got Glenn Beck brainwashing his remaining listeners on a daily basis, nuttin' doin'.

MTV is doing a ton of fist-pumping these days, especially into their wallets.

It's official: the former music video channel will be paying each cast member of the wildly-successful show Jersey Shore at least $100,000 per episode of the show. There's 13 episodes per season, so in other words, Snooki will get $1.3 million per season just for smoosh-smooshing in front of a camera.

That's right! A bunch of talentless pricks will get paid millions just for sucking, fucking and fighting on camera while the average American is still trying to scrap together their paychecks just to pay the cable bill. Even worse, thanks to eight years of lies and mismanagement from Bush and two years of Obama trying to fix his mess with Republicans in the House, we have people with four-year college degrees flipping burgers.

Recently, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi - who isn't even Italian, but rather Chilean - made headlines when she charged $32,000 just for a speaking engagement. Also, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino reportedly made $5 million last year, mainly from club appearances.

All this by just having a camera shoved into your face.

You see, folks, I hardly get paid NUTTIN' for writing my blogs. However, I did gain a sponsor this year in www.ring-ninja.com who was nice enough to give me a cool flask with the encryption "Property of Chuck69.com". I do it because it's my life and hobby. It's the most-perfect excerise for my brain. Do people love my blogs? Absolutely! Do I have my haters? Of course I do! Hell, there was a loser who was even nice enough by making a fake MySpace profile of me! Sucks to be that guy since it only shows that he has no life. But, I move on and open doors I've never opened before.

Point is, my blogs are designed for anybody whose IQ is well over room temperature. However, Jersey Shore is a different animal. Thanks to the fact that my DVR is overloaded with my favorite shows, I don't have the time or lack of mental capability to watch Snooki looking for somebody to smoosh-smoosh. Sorry, but The McLaughlin Group is more-appealing to this almost-30-year-old.

But, the second I see Eleanor Clift fist-pump into the air, it's the end.

4.11.11 Bee-otch of the Day: gas speculators

BECOME AN AFFILIATE OF T-SHIRT HELL AND MAKE SOME MONEY!

This week, we here in Grand Rapids might be paying dearly for gas.

Right now - as of Monday morning just after 4 a.m. - gas prices here in Grand Rapids range from $3.72 up to $3.89, depending on your area of town. But sometime this week, it might go past $4 per gallon.

Why? Well, it's not really because of the war in Libya or unrest overseas, it's because the speculators say so.
That's right! Last night, I was watching good 'ol WOOD-TV 8 news at 6 p.m. and the reporters were lovingly inserting fear into the hearts of their viewers: gas up your vehicle now or else you'll be paying $4 per gallon for gas later on this week.

So, in other words, here we go again.

We all remember the last time gas went over that magical amount: it was 2008 and the end result was one of the biggest economical collapses of all time. Because many Americans were being forced to pay up the asshole in gas, they couldn't buy much of anything, and it even hurt the sales of everything else. End result: the great economic collapse of 2008 and ExxonMobil reporting the best profits in their whole history. But, hey! We ended up with a president that wasn't Bush in the White House!

Sadly, however, Obama seems to be mum about stopping the speculators, but then again, starting next year, we'll be driving in Volts and Leafs that will partially eliminate the need to fill up. True, the Volt will get 93 MPG, but will it help our nation's gas prices shrink? Even with big sales expected for these vehicles, I mostly doubt it.

Folks, only get gas WHEN YOU NEED IT! Personally, I try to get gas only during designated times when I'm not paying bills or if the needle's on E. When everybody buys gas all at once, demand will start to overthrow supply and causes prices to skyrocket, meaning big profits for big oil.

I think that Obama needs to step up his game more. Not only does he need to stop the madness regarding gas prices going up, but it wouldn't hurt to help the unions in Wisconsin and Michigan, too. But, it's too late since those states' idiot governors did their damage. But back to gas, remember folks that it's almost been one year since the BP oil spill, and that company is quietly getting its money back.

But, like I said a few weeks ago, if the government put its focus on alternative energy 30 years ago, this shit wouldn't be happening.

Will somebody cue up a certain Beck song? Please?

It's official: Glenn Beck's chalkboard will soon be blacker than the people he attacks on his daily talk shows. It was announced yesterday that his daily Fox News Channel program will leave the airwaves in the next few months. Beck claims that he'll still be a part of the FNC family in other capacities, but the show will end before his contract expires this December.

Beck's FNC show is still #1 during its timeslot, but it's losing ground against the likes of Wolf Blitzer on CNN and MSNBC's Hardball With Chris Matthews. Not to mention that many advertisers have pulled out of the show after he made claims that President Obama hated white people. As a matter of fact, StopBeck.com claims that over 400 companies have vowed to not advertise during Beck's show.

It had been rumored for weeks that Fox had been pressuring Beck to quit his show, especially since they're forced to make up for their losses on other shows.

The good news is that Beck still has his radio show to fall back on, but even that's fading into the darkness. In just the past few months, he's lost his New York flagship WOR, alongside stations in Philadelphia, all of Connecticut, Madison, and just this past week, Milwaukee.

In the end, Glenn Beck will lose. BIG. You make up shit about our black president and bash him for being black, and you get hit. Even the most-conservative advertisers, such as Walmart, won't do business with him. I'm glad that some of the worst companies out there have a brain because all Glenn does is talk about how bad liberals are. I'm glad that the listeners and viewers have spoken and he's losing big time.

Now, he needs to lose at least ONE of his stations in Grand Rapids.

America, it was nice knowin' ya.

Right now, America is facing a shutdown at midnight because of a budget shortfall unless the Republicans and Democrats can come to a resolution to keep the budget alive until September.

President Obama, Senator Reid and Representative Boehner had a meeting Tuesday to resolve the situation, but nuttin' doin'. The President and Boehner all had press conferences Tuesday trashing what should get cut from each bill. As usual, the Democrats don't want much cut while the Repukes want to cut important services such as NPR while maintaining the Pentagon.

If a shutdown happens, government-owned entities will be shuttered such as national parks and passport services. However, it'll be business as usual for the military and the post office.

Now, the tragedy is that because of Obama foolishly maintaining Bush's tax cuts for BOTH of what's left of the middle class and the wealthy, Money isn't as well-distributed as it once was. Once again, the top 400 billionaires in America have more money than the rest of the country combined. Yeah, the House will cry "well, the people have spoken and they voted for us", we can thank the fear-mongering media for blasting Obama and his so-called "low approval ratings" that chased people away from the polls.

Bear in mind that right now, Obama's approval rating is around 46%, still much higher than Bush's when he left the White House. Sadly, he has challenges: Libya, rising gas prices and now, this.

The point is, people need to grow a brain and vote. This shit happened back in the 1990's, and sadly, not a whole lot happened during Clinton's term in office. Yeah, he rose taxes and started reducing the deficit, but Bush fucked it up. Now, the tea party pricks are working overtime to make sure that the wealthy stay in their mansions while the economy continues to fail to recover, causing Obama's second term to be jeopardized.

After all, Donald Trump did find his birth certificate.

Aw, poor Matty Hanlon. Looks like this was one long, cold winter for him.

The Phase II Winter Arbitrends showed that not one, not two, but THREE of his Citadel Grand Rapids stations scored a measly 2.0 or below. Even worse, the three stations were KLQ's replacements.
In the latest book, Country Thunder 94.5 had its worst outing since flipping to country seven years ago. This time, the station scored a dismal 1.8 while its competitor, Clear Channel's B93 had a great second place showing with a 7.5.

Bear in mind that it was Thunder that replaced KLQ at its original home at 94.5 out of Holland. That station moved to 107.3 Greenville - replacing Oldies WODJ - and that station is now the new WBBL/107.3 The Ball. Despite being Grand Rapids' home for the Red Wings, WBBL is now getting its ass whipped by another Clear Channel station, ESPN 96.1. WBBL got a 2.0, ESPN had a 2.7. The probable reason is of course, ESPN's strong lineup of national hosts whereas WBBL uses Sporting News Radio, and yes, the fact that ESPN's local afternoon show, Sean and Terp, actually has intelligent sports talk over the overrated and outdated "Huge" Bill Simonson. As a matter of fact, extraps now show that S&T now beat the morbidly obese Little Caesars peddler by a longshot in most demos.

And let's not forget poor little WJRW 1340, which has failed to attract any audience since it debuted over a year ago. Their latest rating? 0.0. Bear in mind that 1340 was WBBL, which moved to 107.3 when Hanlon got the word that Clear Channel signed a contract to bring ESPN to the FM band. Needless to say, either move, WBBL loses.

The only station giving Hanlon any joy is Classic Rock stalwart WLAV, even though it's now at a 4.4 in 6th place. Crappy-assed CHR 105.3 Hot FM is steady at a 4.3, but getting creamed by WSNX (3rd place, 6.9).

The point is, the people have spoken. Hanlon's stations are the most-worthless to the people of Grand Rapids. Yes, these are only trends and not real ratings, so the Winter book will be fun to look at. After all, Star 105.7 was #1 by default because of Christmas music. Hanlon has four stations in the Grand Rapids area, and three of 'em have a 2.0 or less. That, my friends, is not good radio.

I think that if I were Cumulus, I'd be considering firing Hanlon, but since his stations are akin to their liking, firing him is doubtful. Even worse, we'll be hearing the soulful sounds of Billy Bush on Hot FM sooner or later. These days, it doesn't matter what your ratings are. It's how much you suck.

If I were Howard Stern, I'd be laughing at those ratings, too.
