---
Yesterday in Wisconsin, the polls reached presidential election levels in what many would hope would be a successful recall against six Republican state senators.

There was a victory, but it was very little.

Of the six to be recalled, only two state senators saw their seats given to Democrats: Randy Hopper and Dan Kapanke. Alberta Darling, Robert Cowles, Sheila Harsdorf and Luther Olson all saw victory Tuesday night.

One other big winner was without a shadow of a doubt the Tea Party, who rallied for Darling, as I mentioned yesterday. Tea Party leader Judson Phillips organized one of the rallies, and even compared liberals to Hitler and claiming that liberalism claimed the lives of over a billion people. To each their own.

The big reason for the recall election was because of state governor Scott Walker, who has angered many, even those who don't live in the state. Walker ended collective bargaining agreements for state workers, which led to massive protests at the state capitol. Many had hoped that the recall elections would do more, but it didn't.

Sadly, there's still a Republican majority in the state senate, and even worse, US Senator Herb Kohl - whose father started the Kohl's Department Store chain, and even he ran it until he sold it in 1979 - is retiring in 2012. Many feel that with big companies like Koch Brothers buying up elections, money will always be a major factor in getting Republicans elected, and not what these people will do in office.

Ya know, as I've mentioned during these past few weeks, even if we don't vote, we're still voting all the time. The companies that make the products we buy usually support one political party, and sadly, they support the Republicans and their radical agenda. The Koch family heavily funded Scott Walker's election, and they're extremely rich from the energy companies they run. As a matter of fact, Koch Industries made $100 BILLION last year.

So, what does Koch own? Some of the products you buy everyday: Brawny and Sparkle paper towels, Angel Soft and Northern toilet paper, Mardi Gras napkins and Dixie cups. They also make Stainmaster Carpet and Lycra fibers. Koch owns Georgia Pacific, which makes these products and building materials. They also own refineries, pipeline companies, fertilizer manufacturers and cattle ranches. Koch has been in trouble with the government multiple times for breaking environmental laws; there was even a study from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst that states that Koch is the 10th worst air polluter in the United States.

Without a doubt, one reason for Koch wanting to get more Republicans and Tea Partiers in office is so our government could make it simpler for companies like them to pollute and make money. Sad, especially since Herb Kohl's (and I'll betcha that he still has some shares in the company) stores have been rated high for their environmentally-friendly stances.

The people of Wisconsin, you've been duped. Scott Walker and his pals are out to eat you alive. To the people who got those two senators out of office, good for you. But to those whose brains were probably scrambled by a Koch smokestack, my condolences.

It's all about promises kept, not who has the biggest ad budget in an election.

8.9.11 Bee-otch of the Day: Judson Phillips

Poor Tea Party. They need to get a life.

Right now, the Teabaggers are protestng in Wisconsin because of a recall vote designed to remove six Republican state senators. The Tea Party's in support of Alberta Darling, who is struggling to maintain her position against Sandy Pasch for the district in the Milwaukee area.

During a rally on Saturday, Tea Party founder Judson Phillips proved to the world that he and his kin have an IQ similar to somebody who rode the short bus to school. "I will tell you ladies and gentlemen, I detest and despise everything the left stands for. How anybody can endorse and embrace an ideology that has killed a billion people in the last century is beyond me."

OK, Einstein, how did the left 'kill over a billion people'?

On Friday, Phillips compared protesters of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to Nazi storm troopers. It's also worth noting that some of Phillips' followers were holding signs that read "blessed are the rich".

Kids, get out your Bibles, and turn to Luke Chapter 18 verses 18 through 30. I think if any rich jerk reads that passage, we'd still have that AAA rating.

You see, the Tea Party WANTS America to fail. They're happy at America's credit rating tumbling while gold is at $1,700 an ounce. I love their logic that only the wealthy deserve to have money and no debt.

There's a reason why our economy's tumbling: it's not Obama, it's THEM! People only gave Obama two years to fix the economy and we've still got a ways to go. We're still fighting wars we can't afford and unemployment's still sky high. The brainwashing the teabaggers have bestowed onto us have pushed us back into the past and this time, we're stuck.

Judson Phillips is known for being a moron. Hell, he even called the NAACP a hate group! I can't believe that anybody would develop the same way of thinking he does. These people are nothing more than the KKK in a new outfit. They came out not long after Obama became president. They hate him only because he's black and that raising taxes would only support crackheads in Detroit.

In the end, the Tea Party will lose. Most Americans with brains know that they're only up to destructing what FDR created in the 1930's. Thanks to him, we had unions, fair pay and so much more. Thanks to the Republicans, most Americans have been stripped of what they've worked for, and the Tea Party's only going to take us back further. Pretty soon, we're going to see five year olds back in the caves.

So how did the left kill over a billion people, Mr. Phillips? Instead, liberalism SAVED more than a billion people. Look at my previous statement on FDR. Now, thanks to tax cutters like Reagan and Bush, the average American has too much debt. Many Americans now have to choose between eating or getting medical attention. We shouldn't have to pick or choose. We should live our lives like those in Canada and other nations where yes, people are taxed like crazy, but at least they can still eat.

We should have an AAA. The Tea Party has flunked us.

8.8.11 Bee-otch of the Day: the people who voted Republican in 2010

Bee-otched For: not voting Democrat in 2010... making us lose

---
Dear America, this sucks.

As most of us know by now, our perfect credit rating has slid for the first time in history. Standard and Poor's lowered it from a AAA to a AA+ on Friday, ending 94 years of perfect credit.

Ironically, the news from S&P came 30 years almost exactly to the day Congress voted to reduce taxes for the wealthy to 50%, down from 94% during WWII. Today, the highest the wealthy pay on their taxes is only 35% and some big corporations that make billions don't pay a single dime in taxes, like GE.

What bothers me is this: I know how capitalism's supposed to work, while too many Americans - especially those my age - don't, and they're the ones getting screwed. On October 3rd, 2009, I went to see Capitalism: A Love Story at the Celebration Cinema North here in Grand Rapids. I was hoping to see some of the same audience as as his previous films, especially Fahrenheit 9/11. The film wasn't even in one of the larger auditoriums, and it was only maybe 60% full of people... Old people.

So, where were the 20-somethings? A few theaters down, seeing Woody Harrelson and Jessie Eisenberg zap away zombies at an amusement park. Tragically, Zombielandwas a box office hit, making over $100 million at the box office while Capitalism only made $17 million on a $20 million budget. It was Michael Moore's biggest bomb sinceCanadian Bacon.

Sadly, what people don't realize is that much of what Michael Moore says is pure truth. The only people who'll try to chastise him are the Limbaughs, Becks and Hannitys of the world, and just about anybody who doesn't live from paycheck to paycheck. If anybody saw Capitalism, they'd know that we actually had a middle class back when Mike was a kid. But it was Reagan and especially Bush II who screwed it up for everybody.

Look at Obama's first two years. He saved GM, the auto companies are back to making fuel efficient cars, he overhauled healthcare reform and he caught Osama (and yes, my condolences to the members of Seal Team Six that were killed this past weekend). However, since it seems that most Americans don't give a damn about what happened to our families during the Great Depression, we were all thinking that Obama was going to wave his magic wand and poof, country's fixed. Sadly, that's not how it works.

What this country needs isn't just a Democrat in the White House. We need Democrats leading the Senate AND the House! Sadly, we've allowed the right-winged media and their ass-kissing of the Tea Party to tell us that higher taxes aren't the answer, and that each man is for himself. In their mind, all high taxes will do is feed crackheads in Detroit. In reality, it creates high-paying jobs and preserves the middle class. Now, thanks to the House and John Boner, that dream's dead, and Obama has turned into Stepin Fetchit, Jr.

You see, I love America, and it's too bad that most Americans - especially those in the 18-34 bracket - would rather play video games and watch Jersey Shore than to worry about their future. The Republicans will use this current budget situation to nip at Social Security and Medicare as much as possible, so we'll be working until we're dead.

If you've voted Republican last election, please do yourself a favor: if you have at least a small heart, please watch Capitalism: A Love Story. You need to learn why our middle class is important and that giving the wealthy won't help anything. We must remove the wool from our eyes and see the big picture. We don't need another 2008.

But thanks to the Tea Party, we're getting closer to another one.

8.4.11 Hero of the Day: Michael Moore

DON'T FORGET TO "LIKE" BEE-OTCH OF THE DAY ON FACEBOOK!

-------------------
A SPECIAL HERO OF THE DAY!

Name: Michael Moore
Age: 54
Occupation: filmmaker, author, jack of all trades
Last Seen: Traverse City, MI
Awarded For: doing something that Grand Rapids can't

---
Sometimes, I wish I didn't trade Traverse City for Grand Rapids.

Up in TC, they don't have right-winged billionaires calling the shots. There's resorts and casinos everywhere and hey! They have an actual, honest-to-goodness strip club.

The second I moved from northern Michigan, things only got better. There's now a venue for rock concerts, radio stations started to play rock from the 90's that wasn't Lillith Fair-oriented and the back roads I grew up on got paved. A major brewery, Short's opened in my old hometown of Elk Rapids and businesses are starting to bloom up there, everywhere.

And part of it's because of a man who escaped the ravages of a town abandoned by greed and corporate corruption called Flint, MI. And that man is none other than Michael Moore.

Seven years ago, Moore - who lives on Torch Lake - started the Traverse City Film Festival, which has brought little-seen movies to the town of only 15,000 souls. His organization purchesed the old State Theater downtown, remodeled it top to bottom and is once again a year-round venue for films. His theater, with just one screen is a definite hotspot for movies in Traverse City, especially since the 19 other screens in town, owned by Columbus, GA-based Carmike are beyond outdated with stiff seats and no stadium seating.

But now, he's done something my current locale of Grand Rapids can't do: make a good lipdub video.

Traverse City Film Festival - but not Moore himself - produced the above video (and at this time, the audio's missing for unknown reasons), which is creating some popularity on the web. Yes, there's no fireworks or helicopter rides, but there's some good reasons to love it over the GR LipDub.

The top reason: it's not funded by Amway.

GR's LipDub was nothing more than an advertisement for the big, mean evil giant, featuring Amway execs and employees all throughout the video. TC's version, however, seemed to have normal, everyday people and some familiar faces.

Plus, the musical choices were a helluva lot better. I'd choose Paul Simon's upbeat "You Can Call Me Al" and Van Halen's hard-rockin' "Jump" over Don McLean's depressing "American Pie". A joyful video set to a song about people dying in a plane crash? Retarded.

While the TC LipDub shows the goodness of a city that almost doesn't have a "bad part of town" like Grand Rapids does, my sole complaint is their overuse of media people. Yes, it's nice that everybody sans 9&10 and KLT were in the video. I almost laughed when I saw both WTCM and WLDR's folks in it, given their heated rivalry, but unity is unity. I also didn't like the fact that a certain Chaz Bono look-a-like who waits half a year to add new music on his station and screwed me over on a certain message board was also in there, but that's life.

If Traverse City had good, high-paying jobs for a trade school graduate like me, I'd come back. But, I'm stuck here for now. It amazes me that I've seen so much growth over the years that I feel like I'm an omen. I come to a city and it dies, but when I leave, everything's beautiful. I think Michael Moore needs to be commended for helping to show the world that TC is a great town to live in, and if you can stand the lack of a paycheck, raise a family. One of these days, I need to see a movie at the Film Festival, and maybe shake hands with the man who made it all possible.

Thank you, Michael Moore. Keep up the good work.

Age: 57

Bee-otched For: making a racist comment about Obama (no surprise)

---
The same man who told Big Bird to grow his wings and fly away is now using a term used in an old Disney movie.

That movie, by the way is 1946's Song of the South, which has been out of print for years due to, ahem, obvious reasons.

Colorado US Rep. Doug Lamborn has apologized to President Obama for comparing him to (surprise) a tar baby. In an interview with a Denver radio station, the Tea Party member said "Even if some people say, ‘Well the Republicans should have done this or they should have done that,’ they will hold the President responsible. Now, I don't even want to have to be associated with him. It's like touching a tar baby and you get it, you're stuck, and you’re a part of the problem now and you can’t get away."

In his apology letter, written by a staffer, Lamborn claims that he should have used the term "quagmire" instead. Really? I mean, this dude was born in Kansas but lives in Colorado. He's not a southerner! So, why is he using a term that offends many blacks and others? Oh, because his cronies such as Mitt Romney and John McCain have used it. OK! Nothing to see here.

Look. This is nothing more than yet another Tea Party jerk who loves to use racism as a tool. Just another idiot who has turned our president from a man who was getting the job done into another Stepin Fetchit. Tea Party Republican: "President Obama, we have a bill we want you to sign that will keep taxes low for us rich folks while the working class who voted for you get screwed. Could you please sign this or else this country will lose its AAA rating?" Obama: "Yes, suh! yes suh! I sho' is gon' sighn this heah bill! Yes suh!"

But, you get what you vote for folks. When the Repukes take over anything, We can keep kissing jobs goodbye and the lawmakers responsible for it get out of line and call the president racist rhetoric. Thankfully, he's up for reelection in 2012.

If Obama's smart, he'd lure this jerk into a bear trap with wads of money like he was Br'er Rabbit.

8.2.11 Bee-otch of the Day: WBBM-TV Chicago

Name: WBBM-TV
Age: 65
Occupation: CBS O&O

Bee-otched For: bad editing

---
Growing up in northern Michigan, I always thought that my local TV stations' news departments sucked at editing.

During live newscasts, there was always a ton of errors brought to you by master control: wrong button pushing, sloppy editing and even the wrong graphics. But then again, what else do you expect from market 116?

Then, I grew up and realized that yes, even big city stations have their problems with the wrong edits. Even worse, this time, it's Chicago's WBBM-TV, which is owned and operated by CBS.

The station is apologizing for a video slip-up that many are deeming racist. It aired all the way back on June 30, but it's now making headlines. The report was part of a fast-moving package of stories of shootings. This story in particular was about two teens who were shot, but not killed in the city's seedy south side. A group of young children were watching the event unfold, and one of them was being asked by a freelancer.

The reporter asked the boy, "What are you going to do when you get older?" The kid responded, "I'm gonna get me a gun!"

The video ended, and the anchors that night groaned in disbelief. However, WBBM didn't air all the video.

An organization called the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education obtained a copy of the video, and it ended with the reporter asking "Why would you want to do that?"

"I'm going to be the police!" cried the kid.

Because of Channel 2's piss-poor editing, a little boy is now being looked at as a criminal, and not a hero. This poor kid has been through so much at his young age as-is, and if he grows up to be a cop, kudos to him.

Channel 2 did apologize in a statement, stating that they were investigating the matter, and changing their policies on interviewing young children. I agree with the majority that what the station did was beyond stupid. Don't TV stations have to ask people if they want to be on the air? Thing is, a little boy can't think for himself.

But, if he wants to be a cop when he grows up, then he's thinking in the right direction.

8.1.11 Bee-otch of the Day: "The Man Behind the Curtain"

Name: The Man Behind the Curtain
Age: ??
Occupation: our nation's lawmakers
Last Seen: Washington, DC
Bee-otched For: finally getting shit done, albeit in theatrical style

---
Looks like President Obama has lost one of his biggest supporters.

And that man is my cousin.

Last weekend, I was in the Detroit area for a family reunion. After it was done, I ended up spending time with my cousin and his girlfriend. We went to Grand Blanc to visit my uncle, and on the way, he gave me somewhat of a shocker: he might not be voting for Obama in 2012.

My cousin has always been on the liberal side, but sadly, Democrats have been cowering to the Repukes for years, and Obama's turning into one of them. Now, thankfully, the President and Congress have agreed to terms that would abandon the country's first financial default. No taxes would be raised and Social Security and Medicare would be spared. However, federal spending would be lowered by $2 trillion over the decade.

Nice, but the sad thing is that like many other situations like these, everything had to be done theatrically so the majority of all Americans would be in fear, hoping and praying that this country's credit rating wouldn't go down to a dreaded AA.

My cousin also mentioned that Obama was voted in because he would end the wars Bush started and create jobs. Yes, he caught Osama, but many of us are either unemployed or underemployed. Plus, we're still fighting in Afghanistan, the longest war we've ever fought. Say, did you hear that GE - despite making $6 billion in the US alone - didn't pay a dime in taxes?

In the end, he feels that this country's not run by either Democrats or Republicans, but rather a man behind the curtain. No matter who you vote for, the outcome's the same: Republicans do it for the money given to them by the fat cats, and the Democrats will abandon their promises as soon as they get their first checks from the big corporations. No matter who you vote for, we're fucked. So, my cousin might go Liberitarian in 2012.

One thing I mentioned my cousin was this: 2000 was the first year I could vote since I was 19. But, I didn't do it, and neither did he. Why? Because the main choices were Bush or Al Gore. Gore could have been a great choice, but since Joe Lieberman was his running mate, voting for me was a bad decision. Many unhappy Democrats agreed, and voted for 3rd party candidates instead. Yes, Gore won the 2000 elections, but Bush became president only because of Florida.

End result: yep.

Personally, I agree with a lot with my cousin. As much as I like Obama, he's proven to be only a so-so leader so far. Then again, it's our damn fault for voting Republican in 2010, causing the President's job to be harder. Instead of getting shit done, the political process becomes an episode of The Jerry Springer Show. I could imagine a donkey and an elephant on stage with Jerry's security trying to break them up while his audience - representing our nation's voters - chant "JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!". We're entertained, but like every episode of Springer, nothing gets solved. Yeah, we might get a Final Thought, but as always, nothing makes a whole lotta sense.

I think the question is simple: can Obama survive 2012? I know he hasn't done much, but I hope so, too. Really. Who wants the likes of Mitt Romney or (BARF) Michele Bachmann or (PUKING BLOOD) Sarah Palin as our next president? Having a third party president might be the answer, but who'll support him? Sadly, in the poor puke world of politics, money wins, just ask Scott Walker and his butt buddies the Koch Brothers or even our beloved Rick Snyder, who spent $10 million on his gubernitorial campaign while Virg Bernero didn't even spend a million. But there are upsets, such as Tom Emmer, who thankfully lost in Minnesota even though retailers Target and Best Buy both spent a lot of money on him. It might have been Emmer's connection to an anti-gay Christian Metal band that cost him the election.

Yes, saying no to Democrat or Republican is nice, but it'll never happen. You can thank the Man Behind the Curtain for that.
