When a headline on NBCNews.com reads "Trump's payments to stop stories about women sound like the John Edwards case", it makes you wonder if this is the end of Drumpf as we know it.
With multiple cases against the de facto president, one is coming out of the woodwork with his lawyer's taped conversation with him in regard to hush money to a former Playboy Playmate. Some are calling this situation similar to John Edwards, the North Carolinian Democratic presidential candidate who paid off his mistress, which was a violation of campaign laws. While he was acquitted, the fact that his wife was dying of cancer at the time forever wrecked his image.
Whether or not this will throw Drumpf in the slammer is up to the future's eye. But the sad thing is the fact that he's still the president and still making some idiotic calls. Case in point: his recent diatribe regarding the FCC's disapproval of Sinclair's buyout of Tribune.
On Twitter, the Orange Shitgibbon cried "So sad and unfair that the FCC wouldn’t approve the Sinclair Broadcast merger with Tribune. This would have been a great and much needed Conservative voice for and of the People. Liberal Fake News NBC and Comcast gets approved, much bigger, but not Sinclair. Disgraceful!" The proposed merger was shot down last week over concerns regarding Sinclair's shell companies (i.e. Cunningham Broadcasting and Howard Stirk Holdings) "owning" stations that are operated by the far-right-winged media giant. Up in my old hometown of Traverse City, MI, Sinclair owns NBC affiliate WPBN 7&4, but operates ABC WGTU 29&8, which is owned by Cunningham, which in turn is owned by members of the Smith family, the main shareholders of Sinclair. FCC rules and regulations state that in a market smaller than #100 (TC is #119), a company cannot own more than one TV station.
You know, it's sad that TC only has four full-powered TV stations and Sinclair owns two of them. The other two, CBS WWTV 9&10 and Fox WFQX "Local 32" (God, what an awful name for a TV station), are in a similar situation. 9&10 is owned by Mario Iacobelli while Local 32 is owned by a friend of his, Alex Bolea. Mario's Heritage Broadcasting operates both. Granted, the Heritage stations should be the lesser of both evils, but since 1) 9&10 dropped Howard Stern's Saturday night show 20 years ago for NRA infomercials and 2) they decided not to air a commercial-free 9/11 documentary in 2006 so they could air a movie and cram it with political ads. So OK, who should I get my news from, then? OK, there's WMNN/MiNews 26, whose signal sucks, making it virtually a cable-only station.
Oh, and let's not forget talk radio. Did you know that the #1 progressive talker on radio, Thom Hartmann, is now mostly on tiny community stations? His sole Michigan affiliate is WPRR/1680 here in Grand Rapids. Yet, AM radio is littered with right-winged talking heads who piss on the middle class or what's left of it.
For Drumpf and his troubled presidency to think that they're winning only puts him in the same bracket of lunacy as Charlie Sheen. Or maybe worse since Sheen does not lead a country. The truth is, time is running out. Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein's gonna get shitcanned and even Ivanka's fashion line is being discontinued. Sucks to be them.
Obama ran this country with a golden fist. Drumpf tweets on the shitter.
