This past summer has had some pretty big hits at the box office.
So far this summer, the leaders in movies are "The Incredibles 2", "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Deadpool 2", which are all sequels.
Needless to say, one of the summer's biggest flops is a movie that's also a sequel of sorts since it's an ongoing rant from a raving lunatic who was a convicted felon. That was, at least until he was pardoned by Drumpf.
"Death of a Nation" is the latest stinkaroo from Indian filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza. In this flick, he compares Abraham Lincoln to Drumpf himself in a positive light, claiming that the Democrats were critical of both. He also compares the Democrats to the Nazis.
So far, "Death of a Nation" has only grossed $4.5 million, though its budget was reportedly $6 million. The movie's distributor, Pure Flix is the same studio that gave us the "God's Not Dead" movies.
With Drumpf reportedly using the N-word in front of Omarosa while she had a secret tape player, there's no comparison between him and Lincoln. Hell, BOTH Dems and Repukes were and still are racists! Of course, the Dems tend to attract most Americans while the Repukes aim themselves for the rich whites.
The critics have spoken: this film - like D'Souza's other films - is a bomb and then some. It's gotten a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hell, "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" has a better rating with a 24%!
Other films with a big, fat 0 on RT include "Mac and Me", "Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Server", Wagons East and THREE (!!!) John Travolta films (and shockingly enough, "Battlefield Earth" isn't one of them).
The truth is that the Americans have spoken. They don't like seeing the bad guy be the good guy. Let's remember that Dinesh's first film, "2016: Obama's America" claimed that he would lead America into an apocalypse. Well, 2016 came and went and the only apocalypse we've faced was when Drumpf was elected.
Interestingly enough, "Hillary's America" was 2017's big winner of the Razzie Awards. D'Souza claims that most film reviewers are liberal and were angry that Drumpf won. Well, the joke's on him. That film is now in the same league as "The Emoji Movie", "Fifty Shades of Grey", "Freddy Got Fingered" and the aforementioned "Battlefield Earth".
If there's anything good in all this, it's the fact that Michael Moore's new movie, "Fahrenheit 11/9" will be in theaters September 21. He debuted a rough cut of the film at his Bijou By The Bay Theater in Traverse City, MI recently and he claims that the movie should be in well over 1,000 screens when it debuts. "Death of a Nation", however lost 60% of its audience in its second week and 180 screens. Usually, a distributor makes a theater sign a two-week contract for new releases. Must not be filling a lot of seats.
Like I said, in any good movie, the good guys win. Comparing Drumpf to Lincoln is like comparing the Devil to Jesus in a good way.
