100,000 strong.... and growing....

If you, like me grew up in the 1980s, please accept my apologies for ruining your childhood.

But, seriously, it's sad, but true. America now has lost 100,000 people to COVID-19. We now have had 1.7 million Americans fight the disease and yet, many areas of America are reopening way too soon.

We're not out of the woods, yet. Here in Michigan, retail is opening up by appointment only. As mentioned, most of northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula have reopened and by the end of the week, most of northern Michigan's casinos are planning to reopen.

And yet, it was announced that over 500 more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since yesterday here in Michigan.

So, I ponder this question: why the US? Why do we now have 1.3 million more cases of COVID than the country currently in 2nd place, Brazil? Why do we have 60,000 more deaths than the country in 2nd place, England?

I know. Virtually every nation on Earth have been affected by COVID-19. But the reality is that when we have a Republican president, disaster seems to be mandatory. Reagan ignored AIDS, the Bushes threw us into wars over oil, Dubya ignored the warning signs of 9/11 and now, Drumpf thinks he's doing one helluva job regarding COVID-19.

So, what's Cheeto Boy doing to celebrate? Posting conspiracy theories on Twitter, of course!

Over the weekend, Drumpf was posting lame conspiracy theories regarding mail-in ballots, calling them fraudulent and fearing that the 2020 election will be rigged. Under his tweets, Twitter posted a link to stories regarding mail-in ballots that counterpoint his diatribes. Now, Drumpf is vowing to "strongly regulate" social media sites like Twitter.

Ummm, Drumpf, ever hear of a little thing called "The First Amendment"?

You see, there's a reason why unlike movies, video games and TV shows, internet sites don't have ratings and are only censored by the site's owners. This is a free country. In the 21 years I've been blogging, NOT ONCE have I gotten an email from some dumbass crying that their child or grandchild saw this site and now they're offended.

Now, if I post something on another person's site and it violates their personal terms of service, they have every right to remove it. In Twitter's case, they have every right to alter Drumpf's lies and tell the goddamned truth.

Look at Michael Moore. Recently, he posted his latest movie, "The Planet of the Humans" on YouTube for free. But, YouTube took the movie off and Moore complained that there was a mass movement to get him censored. Turns out that the reason for YouTube ganking the movie was because there was four seconds of copyrighted footage from another man's movie and that author complained. I post stuff to YouTube on occasion and I sure as hell would not want to copy someone else's footage unless I give them a credit. Now, I saw "Planet" and it was an eye-opener. And guess what? It's still online.

The more I think about Drumpf, the more I - and way too many Americans - want him out of the White House. His poor leadership and one-sided conspiracy theories are a huge reason why we've had more COVID patients and deaths in America than other nations on Earth.

We're #1, and it's not for the right reason.
