Oh, Heaven forbid that our gub'ment give our little girls something that's actually good for them.
Yep! The presidential hopeful known as Michele Bachmann is bashing the government for wanting to give girls as young as nine years old the HPV vaccine. The human papillomavirus is a sexually transmitted disease that can cause cancer in a woman's private area, mainly cervical. A few states are forcing all girls to take the vaccine, and in 2007, Texas governor Rick Perry ordered that all 12-year-old girls to take the HPV vaccine.
But, leave it up to Dr. Michele Bachmann to prove to the world that she's as dumb as a rock.
The gay-hating Minnesota Congresswoman used the Tea Party debates to attack Perry for being a fan of socialized medicine. Then, Bachmann appeared on the Today Showto claim that the HPV vaccine causes mental retardation.
Huh? Did Ms. Bachmann misread the advice of another doctor, like, say, Jenny McCarthy?
Some right-wingers hate the idea of pumping our innocent little girls with anti-STD vaccines because God forbid that they lose their virginity before marriage. Look, people like Bachmann only care about wealthy CEOs and not the working poor. The average person can't live on a 40-hour paycheck and sometimes, they hardly ever watch their kids grow up. Many young teenage girls are unsupervised at home and when mommy and daddy aren't home, it's party time. If it feels good to them, they'll do it.
Point is, yes, teens must learn about STDs. But, HPV can be preventable, and the government has said that the vaccines are safe. Michele Bachmann is so loony that if she becomes our next president, I'll proudly move to Canada.
Michele Bachmann needs to have her own vaccine: one that makes her go away.
