You know, this is part of the reason why print media is going down the shitter.
And also why we need to shop at mom and pop stores, too.
On Saturday, The Washington Post's editorial board published an article showing their support for Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer's unpopular plan to raise gasoline taxes by 45 cents per gallon.
The article touches on the fact that Michigan's roads need to be rebuilt and that a higher tax would also help education and be less reliant on taking from the general fund. But, there's one thing the article doesn't mention, and it's something I mentioned last week.
It's called "taxing the wealthy".
If Whitmer was more progressive, she would be forcing Michigan's 1% to pay a 90% tax rate to help fix the crumbling roads. But, no, since corporations helped Whitmer get elected, she wants EVERYONE to pay to fix the shitty roads. Of course, there's a reason why The Post stands with Whitmer: it's owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who doesn't pay taxes on his $150 billion wealth!
It's a shame that the Post was once one of the great newspapers in America. Now, it's owned by a billionaire while its crosstown rival, the Times, was started by a cult. Which is worse?
"Democracy Dies in Darkness". Well, I think the lights are out at the Post.
