Next weekend, some 4,000 movie theaters will be showing Tim Burton's newly-revamped version of Disney's "Dumbo".
At the same time, another 1,000 screens will be showing another film that's, well, plain dumb.
As we reported recently, Mike Lindell, the former crackhead who created the MyPillow just funded $1 million of his own money into an anti-abortion film called "Unplanned". The movie is based on a true story about a woman who does an abortion for Planned Parenthood. During the procedure, her views on abortion change and ends up becoming a whistle blower against the organization.
Well, the Motion Picture Association of America gave it its pirate rating: aRRRRRRRRRR.
According to the MPAA, "Unplanned" deserved the R rating because of bloody and disturbing images. However, the right are all crying that the MPAA is biased and is trying to prevent children from seeing this *ahem* abortion of a movie. Of course, this is the same MPAA that will give a gun-crazy gorefest of a movie an R rating, but if it has one strand of female pubic hair, it's an NC-17.
I know, I know. Hollywood is liberal and conservative films are seen as poorly-made and do quite crappy at the box office. But there's a reason for that: films with an overly-evangelical message tend to reach a very niche audience. Plus, in the case of "Unplanned", it's definitely a turn-off for women who feel that a guy who's made millions off of pillows is telling them what they can and can't do with their bodies.
I can't wait til next weekend and see that this movie will get plagued with poor reviews and a poor box office performance like any movie Pure Flix releases. This movie will most-definitely rest in peace.
