Right now in the news, we're dealing with an R&B singer who is charged with molesting underage girls and child support. We're hearing more allegations regarding another pop music legend and his relationships with young boys. A black gay actor who faked his own attack and so on.

But yet, somebody like Alex Trebek gets diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

The longtime Jeopardy! host made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, which has sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry and of course, the millions who grew up with the Canadian game show legend. Many of his colleagues, like Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak have all sent him well wishes. In Sajak's case, he tweeted that he would never bet against him.

Trebek rose to fame in Canada hosting several shows for the CBC TV and Radio. One of the shows was called Music Hop, similar to our American Bandstand.

In 1973, Trebek moved to America and started hosting the short-lived The Wizard of Odds on NBC. Throughout the 70s and early 80s, he hosted many shows such as High RollersThe $128,000 QuestionPitfall and the pre-Nickelodeon Double Dare.

However, in 1984, he was selected to host a new version of Jeopardy! for TV syndication. The show - often paired with Wheel of Fortune - has consistently been one of TV's most-watched game shows and one of the top shows in syndication.

With Trebek's cancer diagnosis, it's worth wondering how long he'll stay on the air or how long he'll live. Most with stage four pancreatic cancer tend to live from anywhere from a few months to a few years tops. But the best thing of all this is that Alex has shown that he's not a quitter. Hell, he hosted THREE(!!) game shows at one time: J!Classic Concentration and To Tell The Truth. The latter two and Double Dare were all shows Trebek did for Mark Goodson; as a matter of fact, when Trebek's wife gave birth and was forced to miss a taping, Goodson actually hosted the show for him.

But in the end, there's one J! clue we're all hoping for: "what is remission?"
