Today, two horrible incidents occurred that could have been prevented.
In Colorado - just a few miles from Columbine High School - ANOTHER school shooting happened at STEM School, a K-12 magnet school. The shooting happened in the middle school portion of the building. Thankfully, nobody was killed, though seven people were injured. Two suspects are in custody.
Meanwhile in Georgia, that state's Republican governor, Brian Kemp signed into law one of the toughest anti-abortion laws in America. It's called the "heartbeat law", meaning that if a fetus is six weeks old and a heartbeat is detected, it cannot be aborted in the state of Georgia. I was watching Atlanta NBC station WXIA's 5pm newscast tonight and in an instant poll, 82% of viewers totally disagree with the bill.
Several other red states like Ohio and Mississippi have passed similar laws. Meanwhile, many other states have similar bills on the agenda.
Of course, critics of the bill claim that the law is unconstitutional and want to take the case to the Supreme Court. However, with the SC now having a Republican majority, this could make or break Roe V. Wade. In the meantime, since many movies and TV shows are (ahem, cue the jingle) made in Georgia, over 100 actors and crew have announced that they will plan to boycott the state because of the law. Among the TV shows shot in the Peachtree State include The Walking Dead, Stranger Things and Good Girls.
Many feel that what makes this shameful is that Kemp BARELY beat Democrat Stacey Abrams in the recent gubernatorial election in Georgia. On Twitter, Abrams attacked Kemp stating that the state will win in the courts and at the polls.
Ya know, I wonder why our government needs to infringe on woman's rights when they make up 1/2 of America. Plus, most Americans are leftists. Oh, I know! IT'S BECAUSE CORPORATIONS, NOT PEOPLE RUN THE FUCKING COUNTRY! It's sad when people think that a person with a (D) after their name will lead them into nothing but good things, but with what we learned in 2016, it's not the case. It's sad when Dems cry that they want to work with the Repukes and in the end, We The People get fucked. HARD.
If there is any good news, it's that my home state of Michigan has a Democratic governor - albeit a corporate one - in Gretchen Whitmer, but better her over all the fucking Repukes who have told women that it sucks to be them. Were you raped? Too bad. God sent that man to you to fuck you hard, run away and now, you have to poop out his little bastard after nine months of morning sickness and expensive doctor visits. Don't want the kid? Send it to an orphanage where it may or may not be adopted. Hell, I once knew several adoptees and some of them didn't have the best life. One of them even died.
So, should the Repuke governors kill themselves? After all, they don't have hearts.
