What a week.

Hard to believe it, but it's been one week since Kathryn Limbaugh announced to the world that her husband, talk radio douchenozzle Rush Limbaugh had succumbed to lung cancer at 70 years old.

To his 15 million loyal listeners, Limbaugh was their voice of reason. The man who saved AM radio from being FM's bitch in the late 80s. But to the left, he was a racist, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic, pill-popping, prostitute-fucking asshole.

And Amanda Fisk would agree to the last statement. 

Fisk is the now-embattled village president of Middleville, Michigan. It has one grocery store, a few gas stations, several restaurants and a historic downtown, just like any village of 3,500 residents. For many who work in either Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo, it's home. It's also where several west Michigan TV stations transmit from.

The 35-year-old mother has been the mayor of Middleville since late last year when the previous mayor died of COVID-19. The village council - which she was a part of - voted her in.

Of course, most small villages tend to have unaffiliated people on their councils. A small-town mayor has no real say on healthcare, women's rights or any of that stuff. All the people truly want to know is if that person will keep taxes low for business owners, or if the town festival will have fireworks this year. That stuff. 

But apparently, Fisk is a Democrat running a town loaded with morons weeping over the death of their beloved El Rushbo. 

As mentioned on Monday's BOTD. Fisk got herself into a shitload of trouble when she posted on Facebook WOOD-TV's coverage of Rush's death with her typing laughter as the response. Apparently, one of her right-winged "friends" got pissed and made her post public. Since then, many in the village have called for her resignation and one nasty old cunt, Keara Hilton even started a petition calling for her removal that has gotten over 2,900 signatures. 

Last night, the village hosted a Zoom meeting where a few hundred people spoke their peace to the mayor. Many shamed her for speaking ill of the dead while others simply explained that what Fisk did was nothing comparing to the horseshit Rush spewed on his show daily. 

I saw some of the Zoom meeting and these fucking hilljacks who were there bashing Mayor Fisk simply reminded me of someone who would bash a Jew for speaking ill will of Hitler when he died. Granted, many kissed Rush's ass when his shit show "saved" many dying AM stations in the 80s and 90s. In reality, all Rush did was make it look more cheap and tawdry. 

As some of you know, I started this blog in 1999 as "Bring Howard Stern to Northern Michigan Radio and TV". A few people told me good luck, because no radio station owner up north would ever listen to me. Maybe they're right. In 1999, WTCM-AM in Traverse City consisted of Rush, a homophobe who got her career for posing in nude photos (Dr. Laura), a convicted felon (G. Gordon Liddy) and a deadbeat dad (Art Bell). Funny that since then, WTCM now has WKLT as their sister station, and their morning show is a lame Stern wannabe. In 22 years, Stern is now on satellite radio and local radio is still dying its slow, painful death.

Today, Stern is alive and kicking and might live until his 90s, considering his parents are near 100. Rush, a life-long smoker of cigars, is dead and AM radio is now asking, "now what?" Personally, I'd recommend Thom Hartmann, but it'll never happen. Who knows? It's up to iHeartMedia to proclaim what the next step will be. 

Look, Amanda Fisk is only human. She, me and the rest of us all make terrible mistakes from time to time. Honestly, she didn't need to apologize for laughing at Rush's death. The real problem is that like a lot of smaller, rural towns, Middleville is probably loaded with Repukes sobbing into their MyPillows that their beloved Drumpf lost the election and Rush is dead. Fisk is now knowing that being a mayor in a small town makes you an instant celebrity and she now lives in a glass house. People in Middleville very likely know what time Amanda goes to bed, when she wakes up, what she eats and when she poops. It's the reality of being a small-time celebrity. But, like most celebrities, she ain't chocolate. She can't please everybody. 

To me, I think it's what Fisk does as mayor as opposed to what she spews on social media. If the village wants to recall her, that's up to them. If somebody wants to run against her as mayor, ditto. But, if she's defeated, it will show the true character of Middleville and I hope to God that I never have to visit that town.

But of course, karma will always win. Think about that.
