10.10.17 Bee-otch of the Day: WGRD

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

Name: WGRD
Age: 69
Occupation: rock radio station
Last Seen: Grand Rapids, MI
Bee-otched For: treating their listeners like Dust in the Wind

--

Talk about a rude awakening.

This morning at 4:30, I woke up with my old school radio clock alarm blaring out a commercial on WGRD. OK, no big deal. Commercials help pay a radio station. The commercials stop and a sweeper saying "97-9 GRD.... Rocks!" plays into "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue. OK, the Crue is acceptable for an active rock format. But, the next song reeked of what SHOULDN'T air on an active rock station.

And that, my friends, is "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas.

For the past few months, GRD has been adding more butt rock to their playlist. Bands that NEVER got airplay on the station like Def Leppard, the aforementioned Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, Queen and Billy Squier now get played regularly. Now, I don't mind Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin on any active rock station, but when I hear the singers of Kansas wail "CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SOOOOOONNNNN.... THERE WILL BE PEACE WHEN...." blah blah blah, off goes the radio. And when it's 4:30 a.m., I wish I owned a gun so I can shoot it.

So, WHY is GRD playing so much goddamned butt rock all the sudden? Is Townsquare deliberately trying to kill the station like Hanlon did to KLQ ten years ago? Fuck, the KLQ of 2007 actually sounds better than the GRD of today. At least they never played Lynyrd Skynyrd or Kansas. But we all know what happened in the end: KLQ flipped to all-sports WBBL and GRD took the active rock slack. Back then, Free Beer and Hot Wings still had Zane and Jerry Tarrants was a damn good programmer. However, JT left and GRD has been in a downward spiral since. Sadly, I feel that the station's programmer is some suit at Townsquare HQ in Connecticut and he thinks that Grand Rapids is some backwards hick town. However, they don't care a rat's ass that GR already has two classic rock stations and if I want to hear butt rock, I'd listen to those stations.

If I ran GRD, I'd eliminate all baby boomer shit except for Ozzy and maybe Pink Floyd. There's a SHIT TON of kickass rock from the past 25 years that never gets played anymore. But since Townsquare, along with iHeartMedia and Cumulus own 95% of all the radio stations in Grand Rapids, there's no chance in hell that terrestrial radio will ever play them again. We might as well stick to listening to Pandora and SiriusXM so we don't have to sit through Styx to get to Five Finger Death Punch.

As long as GRD keeps playing butt rock, there's definitely a Point of Know Return.

10.9.17 Bee-otch of the Day: Donald Trump

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

Name: Donald Trump
Age: 71
Occupation: The Quicker Picker Upper
Last Seen: Washington, DC
Bee-otched For: being Drumpf

--

Where do I even begin....

By now, we all know what Drumpf has been up to over the past few days. He responded to the devastation Puerto Rico got by throwing its citizens paper towels, he and his wife got a verbal tongue-lashing on 60 Minutes by ex-wife Ivana, and yadda yadda yadda.

But speaking on Mike Huckabee's new show, he proved himself to be a total assclown as usual.

During the 30-minute interview, Drumpf proclaimed that "we are the highest taxed nation in the world" which was a lie, he claimed that we have over $3 trillion overseas and that's unaccounted for and he's pissed that the media only worries about San Juan mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz since she's running for governor. He also claimed in the interview that our enthusiasm for business in America has never been higher, but that's only because of Obama.

Here's the funny thing: last week, Drumpf ripped on NBC for being in his mind, inaccurate. But guess what channel Fuckabee's new show is airing? Why, it's none other than the Trinity Broadcasting Network, the cable home of fake preachers like Benny Hinn, TD Jakes, Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, John Hagee and others who have made a career of ripping people off by telling them that they'll be closer to God if they give them money.

Recently, TBN was ordered to pay $2 million to Carra Crouch, the granddaughter of network founders Paul and Jan Crouch. When she was 13, Carra was raped in a hotel room in Atlanta during a TBN event and the network refused to report him to the police. Since then, Carra's side of the family - consisting of father Paul Crouch, Jr. and sister Brittany Koper - was let go from the network while Paul, Jr.'s brother, Matthew has been running the network. It was Koper who became a whistleblower against her grandparents' network, who claimed that they used peoples' monies to buy mansions, jet planes and even a home for their dogs.

Of course, TBN is well-known for their scandals; many years ago, founder Paul Crouch paid $400,000 to a former male employee who claimed that Crouch ordered to have sex with him to keep his job. He took a lie detector test on a TV show on the now-defunct PAX Network that mysteriously never aired.

The sad thing is that Drumpf will attack any network that bashes him, but in the end, he'll stand up for TBN and Fox News Channel, two networks that have seen their fair share of scandals. The truth must be told, Drumpf doesn't represent the small guy at all. He's just a prick who flaunts with the wrong people.

Somewhere, Jesus is weeping.

10.5.17 Bee-otch of the Day: Tim Murphy

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

Name: Tim Murphy
Age: 65
Occupation: former congressman
Last Seen: Washington, DC
Bee-otched For: being a total hypocrite

Don't you just love people who say one thing and do another?

Don't you just love it when a preacher who calls against homosexuality just happens to be both gay and a child molester? Or the pastor that tells people to say no to porn and yet he has a stack of kiddie porn? Well, there's too many of those types of people in our government and one of them has just resigned.

Republican congressman Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania made his resignation known yesterday. It was discovered that the pro-life politician told his mistress through text messages to terminate her pregnancy with his kid. This comes a day after he announced that he would not seek another term in office.

In a statement, Murphy said that he will be using his time to seek help for himself and his family. He also asked people for his privacy.

Murphy is married to Nanette Messig and the two have an adult daughter together. Murphy's mistress is 32-year-old Shannon Edwards, who was married at the time to another man, Dr. Jesse Sally.

According to the Family Research Council, Murphy scored a 100% anti-abortion voting record. Now, the proof is in the pudding. Tim Murphy is a pure, hypocritical bastid.

All I can say is sucks to be him. Tim Murphy is yet another cocksucking asshole right-winger who claims to be pro-family and yet he's destroyed a marriage, asked his mistress to get an abortion and now, his own marriage is on the rocks. Yep, the Republican Party: the party of family values.

Just as long as you can live a good lie.

10.4.17 Bee-otch of the Day: Pat Robertson

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

Name: Marian Gordon "Pat" Robertson
Age: 87
Occupation: asshole preacher
Last Seen: Virginia Beach, VA
Bee-otched For: once again being an insensitive prick

--

As usual, leave it up to good 'ol Pat Robertson and his 700 Club to say stupid comments after any catastrophic tragedy.

Sixteen years ago, just days after 9/11, Robertson and Jerry Falwell were nice enough to go on Pat's little show - so named for the 700 people who still watch the program - to blame the attacks on gays, women and others. Now with the worst mass shooting on American soil in recent years, leave it up to television's kookiest preacher to blame the shootings on, well, us.

On Monday's show, Robertson claimed that the Las Vegas shootings that killed 59 people and wounded over 500 were the fault of us not respecting Drumpf and respecting athletes who kneel before the National Anthem. In his words, we're become a nation that disrespects God and when we don't have a leader, we all run amok.

Ya know, doesn't this bastid know WHY this shooting happened? After all, he loves telling his low-IQ'd viewers that God sends hurricanes to Florida because DisneyWorld has Gay Days. All we know is that the asshole responsible for the shootings was a gun nut who had over 30 guns and many of them had clips inserted on them to act like automatic weapons. Why he wanted to shoot at these people is beyond anybody's guess at this point.

The thing is, the shooting isn't because God is punishing us. It happened because we have some of the worst gun laws on the planet and many of those who were shot at the concert were gun nuts themselves who all loved Drumpf. Now granted, I don't wish death on all country music fans, but the sad reality is, when a pro-gun person gets cut down, in a way, it's kinda like winning a Darwin Award.

Now, did Stephen Paddock hate country music? Who the hell knows? But the truth was is that he was a sick person and what he did shows how fucked up our gun laws here in America are. But even if we ban the clips that he used, people will still get them. Look at prohibition in the 1920s. People still drank booze, they just had to find the place.

You see, when you disrespect the government, it's because you're mad at the system for caring more about big business instead of the people who made that business what it is today. Unions have been busted, wages have gone up very little and the Rethugs want to do whatever they can to make sure that if you get cancer, that the insurance company will find a pre-existing condition so your care will be unaffordable again. But Pat Robertson doesn't care. He's worth over $100 million and he's got a relatively new heart. Hell, he screwed people over when he created an under-the-counter deal to buy The Family Channel and sell it to Fox for $1.5 billion 20 years ago (of course, it's now FreeForm and is forced to air Robertson's shows).

Jesus healed the sick. Jesus helped clothe the naked. Jesus told the wealthy to give away their wealth. Yet, Robertson claims to be preaching God's word. The reality is, he's anything but. He's simply an evil man whom I hope dies soon and The 700 Club can get canceled. The world will be a better place without him.

Sometimes, I wish I was a Canadian.

10.3.17 Hero of the Day: Tom Petty

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

A SPECIAL HERO OF THE DAY!

Name: Tom Petty
Age: was 66
Occupation: rock legend
Last Seen: into the great wide open
Awarded For: being a real influence in rock

--

With the mass shootings in Las Vegas, what the world needed was more bad news on Monday.

And we got it.

Monday afternoon, it was announced that Tom Petty had suffered cardiac arrest and was sent to a hospital in Los Angeles. A short time later, the media erroneously reported that the 66-year-old rock legend had died, though the truth was that his family decided to take him off life support. He officially died just past 8 p.m. Pacific time.

Petty did live a somewhat hard life; he was physically tortured by his father as a child, he dealt with heroin addiction, his marriage to his first wife ended in a disastrous divorce and his home even burned down by an arsonist. But, he made up for it by making some rememberable tunes.

He started out with a local band, The Epics, that evolved into Mudcrutch, which evolved into The Heartbreakers. They released their self-titled first album in 1976, which at first got little attention on the charts. However, the album took off in England, and soon here in America. The first single from the album, "Breakdown" was Petty's first top 40 hit, peaking at #40.

Soon, Petty and his band recorded hit after hit album. Their biggest hit came in 1981 with their duet with Stevie Nicks, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", which peaked at #3 on the pop charts. It was because of Nicks' chance meeting with Petty's ex-wife that led to her recording one of her biggest hits. She asked her when he met Tom, and she said "at the age of seventeen". Problem was, her deep, southern accent made it sound like "edge of seventeen". Now you know the rest of the story.

Tom was known for his work outside The Heartbreakers as well; touring with Bob Dylan and recording as "Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr." with The Traveling Wilburys along with Dylan, Jeff Lynne and the now-late Roy Orbison and George Harrison. Petty's groundbreaking 1989 album "Full Moon Rising" featured several hit singles, "Won't Back Down", which was inspired when his house burned down in 1987, "Runnin' Down A Dream", which was a tribute to Del Shannon and his biggest solo hit, "Free Fallin'".

Petty's career blossomed well through the 1990s with hits such as "Mary Jane's Last Dance" (with a rememberable video with a dead Kim Basinger), "You Don't Know How It Feels" and "Learning to Fly". He's also known for speaking his mind through his music; his 2002 hit "The Last DJ" was banned from many radio stations for being "anti-radio". It was about how corporations were ruining radio and how DJs no longer had any real freedom.

Petty also did some acting work, most-notably as "Lucky" from King of the Hill, the hillbilly who made a $43,000 fortune after he sued Costco when he "slipped on pee-pee on the bathroom floor". Coincidentally, the woman who played his TV wife from the show, Brittany Murphy is also no longer with us.

When news of Petty's passing was announced - officially and prematurely - tributes came roaring all around the world. For me, he helped to create the soundtrack of my teenage years, even if his music in my honest opinion had that hint of dad rock to it. But in the end, his music will live in infamy and on classic rock stations everywhere.

In Petty's world, it was good to be king.

10.2.17 Bee-otch of the Day: National Rifle Association

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

Name: National Rifle Association
Age: 146
Occupation: gun nuts
Last Seen: Fairfax, VA
Bee-otched For: another massacre in the United States

--

What a horrid way to start the week.

This morning, we all woke up to the tragic news that hundreds of innocent concertgoers in Las Vegas were shot by a sick, twisted gunman standing 32 stories up at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. The gunman was 64 year old Stephan Paddock, a multi-millionaire real estate mogul who had no prior convictions. He had ten semi-automatic weapons with him and a total of 34 weapons between his room at the hotel and at his home in upstate Nevada.

There's no known motive as to why Paddock opened fire at the country music festival, loaded with 22,000 concertgoers. Country superstar Jason Aldean, the night's headliner was performing when the shots were being fired by Paddock from his hotel room.

As of tonight, 59 people are dead and 527 have been injured from the shooting. It is now the deadliest shooting in modern history. To make matters worse, it comes one year after the Orlando nightclub shooting that had that same record.

While the sale of automatic weapons have been banned, the sale of semi-automatic weapons is OK in some states, including Nevada. Two of Paddock's weapons were converted to automatic weapons by changing the stock. Now, the question is, when will this stop?

The tragedy is, is that as long as the NRA keeps buying our politicians - Drumpf included - we won't see many changes in the current gun laws in this country. Interestingly enough, Paddock's father dealt with psychotic issues, so one would wonder if he himself inherited those problems.

I think we're long overdue to fix the wrongs this country has with guns. We need to ban all guns that have the intent to kill humans, including semi-automatic weapons. We also need better care for those with mental issues.

But, that's the problem: the NRA is too big and too powerful and as long as we have three Republican-led sectors of the government, nobody will fight against them. Even worse, many country music fans are also very conservative and pro-gun.

Sadly, but hopefully, it will take this tragedy to make them change their minds.
