Dahmer is leaving GRD...

DAHMER LEAVES WGRD FOR DETROIT'S D...
So who will take his spot?

It's official: the afternoon jock at what might be the top rock station in the state is headed to The D.

And I mean both the city and the shitty Classic Rock station Clear Channel recently launched at 106.7.

Dahmer, who started in nights but got promoted to days (and let's not forget that he himself was one of the replacements for Dave Fox who was at GRD for years until he was fired for making an off-color comment regarding the Prodigy classic "Smack My Bitch Up") at 97.9 GRD is leaving for Detroit. Although I rarely ever listened to him, I do wish him the best of luck, even if Clear Channel shitcanned a ton of folks in Detroit yesterday.

Now, the question is... Who will replace him?

True, I give GRD major props for having a cute chick do nights (and mind you, Jackie is a professional model to boot) to follow in the footsteps of long-departed GR chick jocks like Cristi Cantle, Suzy Cole and Katie Rademacher, but maybe it's another former KLQ jock that might be rocking afternoons on a station he - and virtually every true blue rock fan in Grand Rapids - once despised.

Bill Walters.

Yep! Walt hinted on his Facebook page that he's interested in taking over afternoons at GRD when Dahmer leaves. He asked his followers and most of the replies simply say "do it".

Walters is best known in west Michigan for his two stints at KLQ, alongside the old Radio X 92.3 in Kalamazoo (now Classic Rocker WZUU 92.5 The Zoo). He's also worked at Z93 in Saginaw (where he got fired for trashing former KLQ jocks Ron and Don at a station event at The Intersection in Grand Rapids) and WRIF Detroit. In recent years, Walters got married and now has a daughter. He reportedly has been working with his wife's business.

Will Walters get hired at GRD? I hope so! A little old school KLQ pumped into GRD would kick major ass!

Of course, bear in mind that the man who fired Walters at both KLQ and Z93, Matt Hanlon, is now a sales weasel at GRD parent Townsquare.

3.29.12 Bee-otch of the Day: Rush Limbaugh

Sorry, Rush. Sluts poop and shower, too.

It's been nearly a month since Rush Limbaugh called law student Sandra Fluke a slut for standing up for free contraceptives from religious institutions. Since his outburst, he's lost over 150 advertisers, including Sears, Walmart, Allstate, Quicken Loans and H&R Block. But now, another company has joined the list of companies that don't want to be associated with the Big Fat Idiot: toilet and shower manufacturer Kohler.

The Wisconsin-based company announced earlier this week that they've pulled their spots from Limbaugh's program because of his sickening comments regarding Fluke and women's rights. "We don't support the comments from Mr. Limbaugh and have pulled our advertising from his show," said Kohler spokeswoman Jennifer Taylor. The company also made the offical announcement on their Twitter account.

Despite a half-assed apology to Fluke on his show, Limbaugh has proven that he's nothing more than a low-life pill-popper who lacks sensitivity. After all, he's been married four times and has no kids. I'll betcha that his current wife only married him for the money. Kohler did the right thing by realizing that their customers have a degree of sensitivity and advertising their products on an insensitive show like Limbaugh's just isn't the best business model.

Of course, it's still sad that a store that sells Kohler products that's also based in Wisconsin, Menards is still advertising on the show. But then again, the Menard family are huge supporters of the Koch brothers, which explains a lot.

Thanks, Kohler. Maybe I might buy your products one of these days.

3.28.12 Bee-otches of the Day: the MPAA and the Parents Television Council

Both Bee-otched For: being bullies

---

If you're under the age of 17, you might be able to see the movie Bully after all without dragging mommy or daddy with you to the theatre.

The controversial new movie that deals with teens getting bullied and how adults are dealing with the problem will debut in select cities this weekend. the documentary's director, Lee Hirsch wanted to present the film in a gritty manner so kids being bullied who see the film can relate to the problems they face on a daily basis.

However, for a while, kids themselves weren't able to see the film due to its R rating from the Motion Picture Association of America for profanity said by the film's bullies.

Apparently, the word "fuck" is said a few times in the picture, and per MPAA rules, if that word is said more than once, it must be rated R. Because critics and protesters are infuriated over the MPAA's decision, the film's distributor, The Weinstein Company fought the MPAA to get the rating downgraded to a PG-13 to no avail. So, the company played an old rule from their playbook: release it unrated.

Once upon a time, Bob and Harvey Weinstein owned a little movie studio called Miramax, named for their parents Miriam and Max. The company became an indie powerhouse throughout the 80's and early 90's, and in 1993, the brothers sold the company to The Walt Disney Company for $60 million but retained control of the studio. However, the Weinsteins and Disney had their spats on what films could and couldn't be released, and when Kidswas given the green light in 1995, Disney balked out of the deal because of its NC-17 rating for glorifying teens having sex, doing drugs, cussing like sailors and fighting. So, the Weinsteins released the film on their own under the "Shining Excalibur" label unrated. Critics felt that it was important that the film - the debut film for Chloe Sevigny and Rosario Dawson - was a must-see for teens, especially since one of the film's central characters finds out that she's HIV-positive from having multiple sexual partners.

Of course, the Weinsteins left Miramax and Disney in 2005 and formed their own studio, The Weinstein Company. Disney eventually sold Miramax to another company. TWC released the last two Best Picture Oscar winners,The Kings Speech and The Artist.

With the Weinsteins' decision to take Bully unrated, theatres will now have to decide what type of policy they will have to have with the film. Undoubtedly, some theatres will allow teens in, but the more-corporate chains might honor the R rating. But sadly, one group is fighting for the latter.

The Parents Television Council claims that the film's original R-rating is designed to tell parents what's in the film and not for its commentary on value. They also think that the Weinsteins' decision will eventually derail the MPAA's 45-year-old (with some alterations) code, which replaced the even-more-barbaric Hays Code created in the 1930s that banned profanity, nudity, drug use and strong violence altogether. As a matter of fact, MGM paid a hefty fine to the MPAA in 1939 when the word "damn" appeared in the epic Gone With the Wind.

One of the great movies I own on DVD is This Film is Not Yet Rated, which talks about how moronic the MPAA rules are. I sigh at the fact that if an actress shows a split second of twat whisker, that film gets an NC-17. Yet, films with lots of bloodbath and violence all get a PG-13. It's sad under MPAA rules, teens would have to bring a parent to see Bully, a film that would teach them how to fight their enemies responsibly, but they can see a two-hour gorefest by themselves. Hasn't the world gotten Columbine and the recent school shootings in Ohio pounded into their brains yet? Violence is impressionable, but then again, so is sex. It's why parents need to teach their children responsibility in both sex and violence. If one chooses to have a sexual relationship with one another, wear a condom every time. Bullies? Simple. Just walk away or ignore them altogether. I've dealt with cyberbullies before, and ignoring them will show them that putting up with their bullshit won't be tolerable. They'll just walk away and pick on somebody else. Plain and simple.

Damn, did I prevent a ton of teens from seeing Bully? GULP! Sorry, Bob and Harvey. I'll see it anyway once it hits Grand Rapids.

3.27.12 Bee-otches of the Day: Paul and Jan Crouch

Names: Paul and Jan Crouch
Ages: 77, 74
Occupation: founders, Trinity Broadcasting Network
Last Seen: Costa Mesa, CA
Bee-otched For: proving to be greedy, lying televangelists

---

I knew it. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. TBN is a joke, and somebody has stepped out to prove it.

And that person is its founders' granddaughter.

Brittany Koper (second from the left in her wedding photo) is alleging that her grandparents, Paul and Jan Crouch have been using viewer-supported funds from the non-profit network they founded to support their lavish lifestyle. In a lawsuit the 26-year-old filed, it claims that the Crouches took $50 million from the TBN cookie jar to purchase mansions, private jets and even a $100,000 RV for Jan's dogs.

The lawsuit came about after Koper's husband was sued by a loan-collection company for embezzling over a million dollars from TBN. Both sides have contacted the police and even the IRS. Koper's father, Paul Crouch, Jr. resigned from his Vice President and Chief-of-Staff post at the company last year and it may or may not have had to do with Koper's allegations.

Right now, TBN is pretty much hiding behind its lawyers, who are making up lame-o excuses for the Crouches' ritzy-or-not lifestyle. They did mention that the reason why they fly on private jets is due to the fact that they 'receive more death threats than the president'. The two sides are undoubtedly fighting each other like wolves, but the outcome is a sad one: TBN is just like all the other televangelists, out to get your money.

TBN was founded in 1973 by the Crouches along with (surprise) Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. The two had a falling out and the Bakkers left and created PTL, which as we all know went belly-up because of the Bakkers' own shenanigans of lavish spending and even sexual allegations brought up by ex-secretary Jessica Hahn. The late 80's were a terrible time to be a televangelist, but somehow, TBN survived the storm.

But, TBN isn't prone to scandal, either. In 1998, Crouch paid former employee Enoch Ford $425,000 to keep quiet about a sexual encounter he allegedly had with him. Crouch has denied the encounter up and down for years, but only paid Ford the money to "avoid a costly and embarrassing trial". The Crouches even fought with the FCC after they claimed that they created sham companies to own more TV stations.

Sadly, I have an uncle who loves religious programming. He's 56 years old, barely graduated high school, single and lives in a trailer park in the Detroit area. About two years ago, he decided to purge selected titles of his tape collection to me (and thankfully, they weren't crap like The Passion of the Christ). One of the things he gave me was a tiny Jesus statue that he got for donating $25 to TBN. Supposedly, when you give to TBN, your life is supposed to improve only because you're giving to God, right? Well, not too long ago, he lost his job due to a change of management at the car dealership he worked at for years. Now, he's living off of my grandmother since nobody wants to hire a 56-year-old who worked as a jitney driver.

Chuckamaniacs, Trent Reznor is right. Bow down before the one you serve, you're gonna get what you deserve. You give to a severely wealthy person like Paul Crouch and he's going to spend it on things me or you cannot afford. The fucked-up world of religion and using Jesus to make a quick buck will leave that person financially dead while Paul and Jan's dogs will get the air conditioning many of their viewers will never have. It's networks like TBN and others that target those financially weak and will use them for their financial gain. Most of their viewers live on low, fixed incomes and barely have a pot to piss in. I've known for years that TBN is a joke, and I'm happy that Mrs. Koper has finally stepped out to reveal the sad truth behind one of the world's largest religious broadcasters.

Paul and Jan, if you're reading this, please refer to Matthew chapter 19, will ya?

3.26.12 Bee-otch of the Day: George Zimmerman

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

Name: George Zimmerman

Occupation: dumbass
Last Seen: Sanford, FL
Bee-otched For: being a sick, racist, murdering pig

---

For the past few weeks, I have been using this site to attack Rush Limbaugh for his stupid comments regarding law student Sandra Fluke. But now, there's an even-worse asshole in Florida.

As we all know by now, there's a huge controversy in Florida in regards to the death of an innocent 17-year-old black man, Trayvon Martin. Martin was walking to his father's girlfriend's house in Sanford, FL, a suburb of Orlando, when he was shot by George Zimmerman, a man who identified himself as a neighborhood watch captain. He called 911 when he saw Martin walk by his house, calling him a "fucking coon" and shot Martin - armed only with candy and a bottle of tea - to his death.

Of course, some say that Zimmerman - who is half white and half Peruvian - felt that he had the right to shoot and kill Martin because he wore a hoodie, commonly worn by gang members. Martin has not been arrested because of a Florida state law that allows people to shoot at others only if they felt threatened. However, many feel that Martin - who has been charged with assault in the past - was only using this law to shoot and kill a black man only because of his color.

Since the incident, Zimmerman is in hiding, and has even hired a lawyer who has spoken on his behalf. He claims that Zimmerman was attacked by Martin, as evidenced by scars and bruises on his body. In the meantime, there has been an outpouring of support for Martin's parents with several "million hoodie marches" and even support from President Obama, who claimed that if he had a son, it would have looked like Trayvon. Even the newly-formed black panthers are issuing a $10,000 reward for the capture of Martin.

I remember when she took over the office of Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano warned that since we have a black president that there would be an unfortunate wave of racism in this country. Sadly, her words have spoken true. Many of the people voting Republican this year are doing so only because of Obama's skin color, even though the economy's way better, unemployment is getting lower and we've captured Osama bin Laden. With the murder of Trayvon Martin, this is proof that we as a nation still have huge inroads to travel if we want togetherness in this country.

Folks, I can't BELIEVE that Florida has this stupid law, and people are finding ways to get around it. It's like that old South Park episode where Jimbo the gun nut screams "IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US!" at a deer or any innocent animal so he can shoot it. Just because somebody's black and wears a hoodie doesn't make them a gangsta. Hell, I live down the street from a convenience store that sells do-rags. But, as far as I know, I don't know of any gangs in my neck of the woods. Same thing with their selection of pipes and bongs. Just because you buy one of them doesn't mean that you're going to stuff some weed into the end and smoke it. If Trayvon was armed, then yes, George Zimmerman had every goddamned right to shoot and kill him. But, he didn't, and now he's dead only because he's black.

I hope that George Zimmerman is caught and thrown into jail. I think there's absolute proof that he's going to jail for a long, long time. The authorities need to do their own investigation to prove that Zimmerman only killed him because of race and not because he had a motive.

It's so ironic that this sickening crime came from the same state that gave us this 1970's soul classic.

**AN OPEN LETTER TO HANK AND DOUG MEIJER, CO-CHAIRMEN OF MEIJER**
Dear Sirs,

For many years, I have enjoyed shopping at your stores and watching your tremendous growth over the years. When I came here to Grand Rapids from northern Michigan a decade ago, I loved shopping at Meijer, especially your Cascade location. I loved the convenience of being able to shop in the early hours of the morning, especially since I work second shift.

However, my love for your stores has dramatically decreased in recent years, and a lot of it is due to your politics. I didn't like the fact that you bullied the elected officials in Acme Township over building a new store there and I don't like the fact that in a few departments in your stores, your politics show and it's scaring me to shop someplace else. Case in point: your book section. I've noticed that your stores never carried two best-sellers, They Call Me Baba Booey by Gary Dell'Abate and Too Fat to Fish by Artie Lange, two members of The Howard Stern Show. Yet, your book department doesn't hesitate to carry every known book available from the likes of Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and other far-right-wing conservative zealot nutjob out there.

Now, the issue at hand is the fact that you are one of only a small handful of advertisers to The Rush Limbaugh Show. Recently, I saw numerous banner ads on WOOD Radio's website on the Rush Limbaugh section that promoted your store. Why? Are you happy at the fact that many of your customers - especially your female ones - were offended by Mr. Limbaugh calling a female law student a "slut"? I thought your slogan included the words "Higher Standards" because if there's anybody that's purveying low standards, it's none other than Rush Limbaugh.

Rush Limbaugh is a man who thinks that he's doing the right thing by telling a woman what she can and can't do. Yet, he's been married four times and has no kids. Plus, thinks that people who do drugs illegally need to rot in jail. However, when he was caught doing Oxy pills, he avoided the slammer scot free. He's even deaf because of his overuse of the pills.

Look, I loved your father. Fred Meijer was a man of great character and high morals. If he were in your shoes, he would do the right thing and drop all of Meijer's advertising on Rush's show. Sears/Kmart did the right thing and so did Walmart. Why can't you drop your association with him?

Because of your hypocritical decisions, I have decided to boycott your stores, and I hope my readers are doing the same. I know that you have a store on virtually street corner in town, but you still have competitors. As a matter of fact, I do a majority of my shopping at Aldi and Big Lots now. Yes, some of my money's going to Germany, but I'd rather have them have it over people who bow to right wing lies and hypocrisy.

Do the right thing. Do what's right for your customers.

Regards,
"King Chuck"
Owner/Webmaster, Chuck69.com

Name: Rush Limbaugh

Occupation: Big Fat Idiot
Last Seen: Palm Beach, FL
Bee-otched For: still losing after all this time

---

First things first, I'll admit that I'm kinda sick talking about El Rushbo.

All this March, with the exception of the late Andrew Brietbart, all of my Bee-otch of the Days have been Rush-related. However, I feel that the more I talk about the situation regarding Rush's stupidity, the fresher the issue remains. There's so much to talk about in regards to what he did and why it was wrong.

I remember first hearing the word "slut" on TV during an ad for a best-of Saturday Night Live collection in the early 90's. Yep! It was none other than Dan Aykroyd who taught me that nasty 'ol word as the co-anchor ofWeekend Update, doing the weekly Point/Counterpoint against the smart and independent ignorant slut known as Jane Curtin. I was just 10 years old at the time, and didn't really know what that word meant.

Of course, later on, I got into WWE wrestling during their Attitude era. For some odd reason, I criticized them for bleeping that word out during Smackdown! I know, it's not really a bad word, but it's derogatory at best.

When Dan Aykroyd uttered "Jane, you ignorant slut!" on SNL in the late 70's, the way he did it was funny, playing a moronic, conservative news anchor who didn't like being paired with a young, attractive blonde whose IQ was seemingly higher than his. But Mahatma Rushdi did it in a style that wasn't funny, just flat-out stupid.

And he's still paying the price for his actions.

It's been almost three weeks since Rush called Sandra Fluke a slut for defending women's rights in front of the House, and he's lost over 150 advertisers and counting. Earlier in the week, Cumulus Broadcasting, which owns several Rush affiliates - and is rumored to be looking at replacing him with Mike Huckabee on those stations since his show launches next month in his timeslot - received a 'do not air' memo in regards to 31 advertisers that do not want to be associated with his rants. Some of the companies include Progressive Insurance, John Deere and Advance Auto Parts. Yesterday, two more companies bailed out of Rush's show: Medifast and H&R Block.

It's also been noted that Rush's flagship (and it's still technically his flagship even though he's long since moved his show to his mansion in Palm Beach, FL years ago), WABC New York only has been running a few spots during his show since Slutgate began. They were running PSAs, but even those companies told WABC that they didn't want to be associated with his program. Now, they're running promos for other shows, such as Don Imus and Sean Hannity.

Despite the loss of revenue for some of Rush's affiliates, many of whom owned by syndicator Clear Channel like Grand Rapids' WOOD-1300/106.9, from the sounds of things, they're sticking behind him tooth and nail and hoping to allow the storm to fly over. After all, if you visit WOOD's website, yes and sadly, MEIJER is still placing banner ads all over their Rush page. I even visited their Facebook page, and there's a few folks who even told Meijer personally that as long as they keep placing their ad dollars on a man who's been divorced thrice and has no kids, plus refers to women as "feminazis" that they will no longer shop at their store.

Like I said, there's a great deal of people I want to Bee-otch right now that aren't really Rush-related. But as long as we see backlash against Rush, we will win this battle.

---

Ahhhh.... Traverse City. It was the town I was born in and grew up around for roughly the first 21 years of my life. Like most towns and cities, the town known as the Cherry Capitol has had its pluses and minuses.

In recent years, there's been that part of me that makes me wish I could move back up north full time. After all, it's the home of the Traverse City Film Festival and Short's Brewery. But sadly, the non-profit group that's designed to promote the city of 14,000 is trying to attract the wrong people.

Yesterday, I heard an ad for the Traverse City Convention and Visitor's Bureau that talks about the pure beauty of traveling up north. It talked about the shopping, the wineries, the brewpubs... You know, what makes Traverse City great. It was a decent ad and all, but there was a small problem.

You see, I heard the ad on regular terrestrial radio. Not only that, it was on WOOD-AM 1300 here in Grand Rapids... Just before 2 p.m.

Yes, the ad was aired during The Rush Limbaugh Show.

Now, in the wake of some 150 advertisers yanking their spots from Limbaugh's show because of his vulgar comments regarding law student Sandra Fluke, why would a Chamber of Commerce-y organization like the TCCVB want to advertise on his show? Why do they need dollars from the idiot Hollanders that are already ruining Grand Rapids and their big, mighty SUVs dragging their boats doing 35 MPH in a 55 MPH zone up US 131 just south of Fife Lake with 10 cars behind them? Folks, these AREN'T the people I want to see in Traverse City. Hell, I want diversity!

Ya know, folks, there's a lesson that needs to be retold. Just one day after Obama was elected president, a well-known gun shop in Traverse City, Hampel's, started flying their American flag upside down. It was clearly in protest of him winning the presidency in a fair and just manner. What's more insulting is that the manager responsible for hanging - and ruining - the flag, Rod Nyland lovingly called the then-president-elect the N-word to a reporter for the Traverse City Record-Eagle, creating further embarrassment to the mostly-white community. Thankfully, that manager was fired.

Oh, and by the way, for many years, Hampel's was a huge advertiser on Rush's show in Traverse City, heard locally on WTCM-580.

Look, I think the TCCVB needs to look where their advertising dollars are spent. There's better places to spend their money other than during Rush Limbaugh's daily hatefest. Wanna know an amazing fact? The last time I was up north, the only time I saw ANY black people was at the Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg. Wouldn't it hurt if Traverse City made itself more black friendly? I get tired of seeing old rich white folks everywhere I look, and conservative ones to boot. Let's make Traverse City more liberal-friendly and keep the conservative jerks here in Grand Rapids.

Because Traverse City doesn't need more flags of distress.
