Ya know, us Michiganders can't get a break.

We are in the middle of one of the worst winters in our state's history. And guess what happens to the roads when the snow melts! Yep, POTHOLES!

All throughout the recent gubernatorial election, Gretchen Whitmer's catchphrase was: "fix the damn roads". Well, she has revealed her plan on how she will do it: raising our gas taxes by 45 cents per gallon.

Yep! Right now, the lowest gas price I see in Grand Rapids is 2.399 for regular unleaded. Do you like 2.849? Well, it will be a reality if Whitmer gets her way.

You know, there's LOTS of working class families here in Michigan trying to make ends meet. Look at Traverse City: most places pay their workers near-welfare wages and yet a ROOM will cost you $800 per month. Chances are that the city's fast food workers probably either a) live with their parents or b) drive 30 miles or so to work there.

Look at my parents. You see, I grew up near Torch Lake and in some years, my mom worked in Traverse City, or 30 miles one way. When I was young, if I wanted to go to Traverse City to, oh, go see a movie or to the mall, I was fucked. My mom probably already filled up her car twice that week and didn't want to do it again.

Now, those kids who live 30 miles from the nearest town will have to go less if the governor has her way. That means more sitting in front of video games or less money to go to the arcade.

But ya see, that's what you get when you vote for a moderate, folks. Instead of taxing the 1%, we're the ones getting the bill. Instead of universal healthcare, we get nothing since Whitmer's in bed with Blue Cross Blue Shield. But, oh! Her two opponents for last year's Democratic governor's race weren't white! They wouldn't fly in Alpena. I say, pathetic. And because of that, I voted Green for last year's governor's race.

But the good news is, I think more people will be walking as soon as the snow finally melts here.
