DON'T FORGET TO "LIKE" BEE-OTCH OF THE DAY ON FACEBOOK! Name: various Age: various Occupation: businesses Last Seen: Grand Rapids, MI and elsewhere Bee-otched For: STILL advertising on Rush Limbaugh--- Our coverage of Slutgate continues with the news that El Rushbo is still losing advertisers left and right. So far, over 30 companies have announced that they have yanked their spots from his show. Just yesterday, it was announced that Sears/Kmart, Allstate (which used to be a Sears O&O), Bare Escentuals, Girl Scouts (ironically, the daughter of liberal talker Mike Malloy is a member of the organization), JCPenney and Service Magic all added their names to the list of sponsors that would no longer advertise on The Rush Limbaugh Show. So far, only two radio stations have canned the show. However, here in Grand Rapids where Rush airs on local Clear Channel talk station WOOD-AM/FM 1300/106.9, I (unfortunately) listened to parts of that big fat retard for about an hour yesterday. Sadly, I didn't hear one public service announcement. Translation: Rush's local inventory was filled. Between roughly 1:30 and 2:30 yesterday, the following local companies' spots were heard on Rush's Wimmen Haters' Club: *Metro PCS *West Michigan Glass Block *HME Fire Trucks *Mercantile Bank *Mutual Fund Store *Comerica Bank *Bartlett Tree Experts *Spectrum Health *Human Nature - a touring R&B group *West Michigan Pet Expo National advertisers I heard included Lifelock, Staples, Hillsdale College, IncomeatHome.com and lawyer Robert L. Steinberg. Oh, and (SURRRRPRISE!) Walmart! However, one of the last ads I heard came from none other than Family Fare, which is one of Grand Rapids' largest supermarket chains. They're owned by Spartan Stores, along with D&W. Even worse, I just got off WOOD Radio's website and MEIJER (surprise, surprise) had banners all throughout Rush's page on their website. It doesn't surprise me that Meijer advertises on Rush's show, since their book department is chock-full of right wing crap while recent books from Artie Lange and Gary Dell'Abate were nowhere to be seen. It's sad that Grand Rapids' two biggest grocers - and grocers tend to target women as we all know - all support a man who uses his radio show to call intelligent women sluts. If I can remember correctly, Meijer avoided anything having to do with Howard Stern for years and have done everything to kiss the Religious Right's ass. Yet, they've proven to be hypocrites by paying a radio station to air a program starring a drug abuser who thinks he's an expert on women's rights even though he's been married four times and has no children. True, there's smaller grocers in town, but they're all supplied by Spartan except for Ralph's on Leonard (which is supplied by Nash Finch and is the sole affiliate of theirs in west Michigan as far as I know) and Ken's Fruit Market, which is the old Spartan-affiliated Alger Heights Foods (which has Hy-Top as their off-brand). Thankfully, there's also Save-a-Lot and Aldi, and God willing, they don't do any radio advertising. Point is, even though Rush has lost a ton of sponsors, he has a ton that won't dump their spots. They'll stand up to him despite his problems over the years because to them, it's important to stamp out the very ideals that make us free. They're against a system that gives average Americans like you and me a fair income, fair taxes and even a nice place to live. Instead, they love it when the small guy fails while they suck on rich cigars and have a few expensive cars in their garage. Remember folks, the Meijer family is now the wealthiest family in Michigan, and part of it's due to kissing Republican ass over the years. Thanks, but I'd rather give my money to some Germans instead. Folks, do yourself a favor. BOYCOTT THOSE WHO ADVERTISE ON RUSH. Give them the message that you will not support right-wing bullshit that only benefits the wealthy and not hard-working men and women like you and me. Like I said, if you're doing any grocery shopping, go to Aldi or Save-A-Lot instead. Yeah, the quality's not there, but you're not giving Spartan or Meijer anything, either. Honestly, that's what I would do if I had a couple million bucks: start a neighborhood grocery store. It wouldn't be affiliated with Spartan, either. It would be with Nash Finch or Affiliated Foods (which supplies ShurFresh/ShurFine to Michigan) and it would probably be around the size of G.B. Russo's on 29th Street. My mission statement would be that my store would be locally and family owned, big enough to serve you and small enough to care. Plus, our prices would be comparable to the other stores in town, making it affordable to shop. Plus, yes, the freshest meat and produce money could buy. And if a salesperson from Clear Channel came into my shop wanting to sell ads for Rush, he'd have my boot marked on his ass. --- Got a Bee-otch to nominate? E-mail us @ chuck69dotcom@gmail.com.
