Recently, Walmart launched a series of new ads called "The Real Walmart", which makes the claim that they treat their employees well and that many of them get promoted daily.
But still, it's polishing a giant, nasty turd.
In Canton, OH, their store is now running a food drive. It is for the local poor, but not just any people.
It's for.... THEIR EMPLOYEES.
A bin in front of the store asks shoppers to please donate so their associates could have a Thanksgiving. However, it's creating outrage amongst a lot of people, mostly its shoppers. Some say that if Walmart paid their workers a living salary, this would never happen. A spokesperson for the chain is defending the food drive, since employees do care about each other.
However, the food drive is PROOF that Walmart is all about profits and not about people, whether it's their employees or their shoppers. The Waltons have more money in their bank accounts than the lower 40% of all Americans. Even worse, each Walmart costs taxpayers $900,000 per year in taxes since many of them are on food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare and other programs. It's no question that the Waltons will have a wonderful Thanksgiving this year while their employees will be lucky to even have one.
Folks, THIS IS WHY PEOPLE NEED TO STOP SHOPPING AT WALMART. Yes, they have low, low prices, but it comes at a cost: PEOPLE. People have lost jobs because their factories have been sent overseas because of Walmart's bullying and the average employee at Walmart makes around $14,000 per year. My father and an uncle of mine have worked at Walmart in the past, and they don't recommend it.
Like the graphic says, always corporate greed. Always.
