Last Friday, I was thisclose to being featured on the 6:00 news.
And it wasn't for a good reason.
I had to take an alternate route home because the street where my workplace is was closed due to a water main break. So, I had to take 29th Street. I was turning left from Breton when I had to slam on the brakes.
The reason? Two black teenaged boys were in the middle of the street, dodging traffic.
To add insult to injury: the crosswalk was just a few feet away, and it was flashing "Don't Walk".
Why do people in Grand Rapids jaywalk? Why do they put themselves and drivers in danger? Is it because they're stupid? Jesus! And the sad thing is, this isn't the first time I've had to hit the brakes because of jaywalkers, either.
People, DON'T JAYWALK! PLAIN AND SIMPLE! Use the crosswalks at all times! Wanna live? USE THEM!
Otherwise, when I turn you into roadkill, don't look at me...
