Looks like if people have it their way, Wally World could be losing billions of dollars.

In 2001, over 100 female Walmart employees filed a class action lawsuit against the retailer claiming that the company favored males over females. They claim that they're paid - in some cases - half the wages of their male counterparts despite the fact that they made $14 billion in profits last year.

As usual, Walmart claims that they forbid discrimination, claiming that they have a rigorous policy against it.
Many do wonder if the suit still has merit since it was filed over a decade ago, plus the fact that the women who have filed the suit represent the women who currently work for the company. But, a Walmart win could be detrimental against civil rights according to one woman. Marcia Greenberger, co-president of the National Women's Law Center told the Huffington Post "Some employers have made the economic calculus that they'll never be held accountable for discrimination, if it exists, and they might as well continue the status quo until someone holds them accountable for it."

Ladies and gents, reason #624,735 I won't shop at Walmart. Pathetically, Walmart's policies have lingered over to other businesses as well. You wouldn't believe how many people work less than 40 hours per week because other retailers have taken on Walmart's policy of less than 40 hours per week to prevent overtime.

Let's not forget the fact that they'll sell handguns but not anything associated with Howard Stern, CDs with the Parental Advisory label on them, and so on.

Folks, Walmart's gone too far if they've been treating women like inferiors. It's sad that the Waltons all get to live a life of luxury while the people who work for them are disposable. I can't picture myself working there, even for their higher-up positions. Even more, I'm a man! If my pay would suck being there. I'd just pretend having a vagina for once.

But then again, once I wear a nametag that reads "Chuck", all dignity would be lost.
