Name: Angus T. Jones
Age: 19 Occupation: teenage actor Last Seen: Los Angeles, CA Bee-otched For: becoming half the man he used to be --
One of television's most-successful kid actors has shot himself in the foot.
When Two and a Half Men debuted in 2003, Angus Turner Jones was a frumpy-yet-charming 10-year-old who played Jake Harper, the son of Alan (Jon Cryer) and nephew of Charlie (Charlie Sheen). The show would eventually become TV's top sitcom, only to suffer a huge setback last year when Sheen abruptly quit the show only to get replaced with Ashton Kutcher.
Now, the top-rated show is facing some major controversy because of the video seen above, in which Jones, now a svelte 19-year-old appears on a website called ForerunnerChronicles.com telling his fans not to watch the show. In the video - seen above - Jones tells his audience that TAAHM is "filth" and people shouldn't watch it. Jones had recently been baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Last night, Jones issued a statement apologizing for the video to US Weekly Magazine: "I have been the subject of much discussion, speculation and commentary over the past 24 hours. While I cannot address everything that has been said or right every misstatement or misunderstanding, there is one thing I want to make clear: without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked and over the past ten years who have become an extension of my family."
Jones continued: "Chuck Lorre, Peter Roth and many others at Warner Bros. and CBS are responsible for what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date," he continued. "I thank them for the opportunity they have given and continue to give me and the help and guidance I have and expect to continue to receive from them. I also want all of the crew and cast on our show to know how much I personally care for them and appreciate their support, guidance and love over the years. I grew up around them and know that the time they spent with me was in many instances more than with their own families. I learned life lessons from so many of them and will never forget how much positive impact they have had on my life."
Ya know, Angus T. Jones is a lucky man. Too many child stars before him have seen their careers crumble before their eyes. Look at Gary Coleman and see what happened to him. It was revealed not long ago that MacCauley Culkin has trouble even auditioning for movies. Hell, look at some of the Little Rascals! Jones makes over $8 million a year on the show, and so far, it's been his meal ticket.
If Angus wants to hold hands with Jesus, that's his business. But when he pukes his religious beliefs on others and makes us feel guilty for loving him, that's sad. I personally don't watch TAAHM often, but when I do, it can be enjoyable. The dude has to realize why his show has ratings and the shows he wants you to obviously watch (remember the PAX Network?) aren't.
Unlike Charlie Sheen, Angus T. Jones is definitely not a winner.
