January 20, 2017 will be probably the saddest day in American history.

As we enter the last seven weeks of Obama's presidency, it's a great time to reflect the fact that in the almost eight years he's been  in office, the economy is kicking ass, gas prices are hovering around $2.15 per gallon, unemployment is low, plus the fact that millions more people now have healthcare and the LGBTQ community now has the right to marry.

And Obama's fireworks are still going strong.

This weekend, the Obama Administration announced that the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline would be blocked from being built near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota. The pipeline, owned by Energy Transfer Partners and backed by companies such as Marathon, Enbridge and ConacoPhillips was originally going to pass through Bismark, pop. 67,000 and the Missouri River, so they re-routed it to Standing Rock, which led to huge protests from Native Americans, celebrities and regular folks alike. The people have spoken.

The big situation is will Obama's decision stick, though.

With president-elect Trump wanting to create jobs that would destruct the environment, many of the Pipeline's protesters are staying put to show him that they mean business. They do not want Standing Rock to turn into Flint. Bear in mind that the Pipeline's co-investor, Enbridge owns the controversial Line 5 that's lurking under the Straits of Mackinac. It's been there since the 1950s and one false move to the pipeline could equate to massive damage to the area, which needs tourist dollars to survive.

IMHO, I think it's time to invest in renewable energy, such as wind turbines and solar. Hell, Elon Musk even admitted that the solar shingles that he put on his house are CHEAPER than normal shingles! Plus, I know a church in Grand Rapids that uses solar energy exclusively and has even sent people over to Standing Rock. True, digging holes in the ground could create jobs, but I think it's time to move up. Hell, look at Oklahoma. Look at Centralia, PA. Those places are environmental disasters because of years of fracking and mining that have caused Oklahoma to have earthquakes and Centralia - once a town of 2,000 - to dip to only 10 souls. If Trump is president, I think fracking will be everywhere, including Michigan. If it happens, I'll pray and hope that one will cause the Amway Grand Hotel to collapse.

But once again, it's our fault Trump will soon be in charge. We all fucked ourselves in the ass. But in the meantime, at least we still have President Obama.

For now.
