Remember that old Looney Tune cartoon where Bugs Bunny and Duffy Duck argue whether or not it's duck season or rabbit season as poor Elmer Fudd watches in confusion?

Well, it's election season. Midterms to be exact.

As expected, the TV has been littered with political ads by the minute it seems. Here in Michigan, the three Democrats seem to be doing their own thing. There's progressive Abdul El-Sayed, who seems to be running the least ads. Meanwhile, there's fake progressive scientist Shri Thanedar, whose labs tested on animals and the more-moderate Gretchen Whitmer, who doesn't believe in having single-payer healthcare. Personally, I'm rooting for Abdul, but I know Whitmer's going to get the Democratic nod for governor. Why? Simple: she's white and more-appealing to voters who swing both ways. Maybe that's why she's leading in the polls. The fact that Abdul is Muslim and Thanedar is Indian and speaks with a deep accent will hurt their campaigns. Hell, I've been to many Indian-owned grocery and convenience stores that are Indian-owned and they are HORRIBLE. They seem to be buying a ton of their goods from Aldi and jacking up their prices. No wonder why people are upset over the character of Apu from The Simpsons!

El-Sayed, Thanedar and Whitmer aren't slinging mud at each other in their ads, but they should. Why? Because the Repukes do it to each other, especially current lieutenant governor Brian Calley and attorney general Bill Schuette. Both seem to tell their voters that they're behind Drumpf, though one will say that the other is not. Ferchrissakes, both you assholes have an (R) after your name, and I ain't gonna vote for you! Plus, the fact that Calley used some of Larry Nassar's victims in one of his ads simply shows that he's trying to look like the good guy here. What the fuck did he do to help the victims.

The worst political ad I've seen so far is our current and thankfully outgoing governor pRick Snyder standing with Calley with the ad talking about the problems Michigan had before he took over the governor's office here in Michigan. The ad was aimed towards Detroiters, with one guy saying that the cops didn't arrive until two hours later, the streetlights were out and that one guy's five kids all had to move out of state because they couldn't get jobs. But thanks to the Stuffed Turd, Michigan's making a comeback. Hey, pRick, how about FLINT? Why are we paying top dollar for car insurance? Why are our schools crumbling? Why are our roads crumbling? Sorry, but the real congratulations should be going to Obama and our previous governor, the great Jennifer Granholm for working together to create jobs. Michigan's destruction in the 2000s was all due to BusHitler's shitty politics.

The sad thing is that I think Michigan's comeback will be stalled with Drumpf's tax cuts. I work in publishing and we're starting to feel the pinch because of all the tariffs that Drumpf helped to set. We've even stopped publishing on 45-pound paper because it's too tough to get. Some of our stock now takes longer to ship. Some of our materials have to ship from overseas because the American version of it isn't of high quality. I just got a raise and I wonder if it will be the last raise I'll be getting for a while.

The Dems have got to beat the Repukes, but they need to be combative. I wish both El-Sayed and Thanedar would attack Whitmer's healthcare record. I wish somebody would attack Thanedar and the fact that he didn't know which party he wanted to go with when he announced his gubernatorial run. The Dems are simply too nice to each other. But since Whitmer's likely to be the next governor of Michigan, we'll see what will transpire in the prelims.

But yes, I'll agree with Gretchen on one thing: it's time to fix the damn roads.
