                                                     Awwww. Poor Glennie Boy.
As of this Friday, Glenn Beck's synidcated radio show will no longer be heard on New York's WOR 710 AM. Station management announced last week that ratings for his show had been far from what they wanted it to be, hence the cancellation.
The December 2010 Arbitron ratings show WOR in 22nd place with a meager 2.1. Its main competitor, WABC 770 has around twice the ratings they have with a 4.1.
Beck's show is based in New York at the Radio City Music Hall. He has been at WOR since 2008. After his show is canceled, New York listeners will have to find a distant signal carrying the show or even the internet. Beck's biggest affiliate will become KRLA 870 Los Angeles, which is a Salem station that also carries Michael Medved, Dennis Prager and Dennis Miller.
In Beck's place at WOR will be Mike Gallagher, whose politics are just about on the right as Beck's, but it's worth noting that Galligher's show isn't as popular nationally as Beck's. As a matter of fact, Gallagher made headlines when he announced that he was giving members of the Westboro Baptist Church - yesterday's Bee-otch of the Day - several thousand dollars not to protest the funerals of Amish children killed during a shooting in Pennsylvania in 2006. Similarly, he did the same thing in 2007 after the Virginia Tech shootings.
Ironically, the announcement of Beck's cancellation occurred only days before the tragic shootings in Tucson. Many believe that the man who tried to dust off Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Jared Loughner did have some ties to the Tea Party, in which Beck is associated with. However, many contend that Beck had nothing to do with Giffords' shooting, but only time will tell.
In the meantime, it only proves that one city doesn't like Beck's antics. The people of New York have spoken.
