Awww! Looks like Americans don't want a hypocrite to be our next president after all.

After only winning a few states in his run for the Republican candidate for president, Newt Gingrich announced that he's dropping out of the race and that he's endorsing Mitt Romney for president. It's no lie that Gingrich is now millions in debt due to his failed campaign and in recent days, it was revealed that he was using Secret Service protection at the taxpayer's expense.

Now, it's Willard's world as the only obstacle he has now is Ron Paul, who hasn't done a whole lot in the election. And you guessed it: Obama's going to have to REALLY fuck up to lose the election.

But let's face it: Newt had no chance in hell he was gonna win. This was the asshole who tried to get Bill Clinton out of the White House even though he cheated on his cancer stricken wife. Sorry, but a spade's a spade. Newt Gingrich is a failure and he knows it. I hope he learned his lesson well that hypocrisy won't lead you back to Washington. The people have spoken.

Like I always say, don't let the door hit you on the ass.

4.25.12 Bee-otch of the Day: radio stations still playing Ted Nugent

Bee-otched For: STILL playing Ted Nugent's music

---

Hard to believe it, but the most-controversial rocker in the country ain't a Satan worshiper or somebody that appeals to those under 30.

Last week, legendary rocker Ted Nugent made idiotic comments regarding President Obama, stating that we should cut his head off in the 2012 elections. Of course, making a comment regarding killing the president is, well, not very nice. Since making those comments at an NRA convention, not only was he barred from playing in front of Army servicemen, but he also had a nice chat with the Secret Service.

Oh, and he might have to pay the state of Alaska some dough for killing a black bear in that state. Cute.

Now, here's a flashback 4 ya: remember in 2004 there was a little Country trio called The Dixie Chicks? They had hit records and won Grammys. Then, while they were in England, lead singer Natalie Maines told the crowd that they felt ashamed to be from the same state as George W. Bush. Mind you, at the same time, we were entering Iraq and many Americans were on his side because we felt that Saddam and Osama were in the same boat together (which we found to be untrue).

Just days after Maines' comments, many radio stations dumped the Chicks' music from their playlist, mainly stations owned by Cumulus Media. Many other Country stations followed Cumulus' lead and did the same. I talked with a former Country station DJ, and he told me that his station dumped the Chicks' music after receiving death threats from listeners.

Of course, we found out that the Chicks weren't bad after all. After all, they had a hit album after the outburst despite the lack of airplay. That album, Taking the Long Way sold over four million copies and won several Grammys. The album's lead-off single, "Not Ready to Make Nice", was a shot at President Bush.

Today, some Country stations - even those owned by Cumulus - have returned the Chicks to their playlist. But now, we have another president-hating rocker, and his comments were waaaaaay worse than that of "we're ashamed to come from the same state as President Bush".

Ted Nugent said that we needed to rip off the head of Obama.

So, how many stations or radio companies have dropped Uncle Ted from their playlists? Well, in the wee hours of the morning - thank you Yes.com - CBS's WNCX Cleveland played "Stranglehold" at 3:59, Emmis' KSHE St. Louis played "Dog Eat Dog" at 2:40 and (here we go) Cumulus-owned WNNX Atlanta played "Cat Scratch Fever" at 3:10.

The moral of the story, kids? It's OK to chop off the president's head, but it's not OK to feel shame that you're from the state he came from. Of course, the conservatives will find a way to throw Kenya into the fray.

But, what else do you expect from a medium that appeals to a lower common denominator? It's companies like Clear Channel that make sure that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck all air on 50 KW powerhouses while Thom Hartmann and Ed Schultz air on tiny peashooters. Same goes with music. The Dixie Chicks got blacklisted while the Motor City Madman gets his residuals.

Thankfully, there's always the off switch.

A SPECIAL HERO OF THE DAY!

Name: Benny Hill
Age: deceased
Occupation: comedian
Last Seen: in the great beyond
Awarded For: being quite possibly, the funniest person ever in the late 20th century

---

I wanted to write this tribute on Thursday, but with Dick Clark dying and news of Hanlon's mishaps becoming public, we ended up behind schedule, sadly.

But yes, Friday marked the 20th anniversary of the death of the man who helped millions worldwide learn how to laugh. Benny Hill never married a woman, but he was married to the world of comedy. Born Alfred Hawthorne Hill 88 years ago, he started acting in school plays and often used acts that he learned from the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy to entertain the crowds. But it was neither those two acts - two of the three people involved being British - that had the most influence on little Alfie. Hill loved American comic Jack Benny so much that he adopted the name "Benny" as his stage name.

In the 1940's, Hill toured nightclubs in England, and was brought to the attention of the BBC. He made his TV debut in 1950 and appeared on many specials on that network for almost 20 years. He even recorded several albums and even appeared in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang BangThose Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines and The Italian Job.

But it was in 1969 when his biggest success occurred when he moved his program over to Thames Television. The Benny Hill Show showcased Hill at his best, singing bawdy songs, chasing young women and being chased himself to the tune of "Yakety Sax". However, the show itself didn't air in America until a decade later when Don Taffner - the man behind another cheeky sitcom, Three's Company - worked a deal with Thames to bring Hill's show to American audiences. Some 111 half-hour shows were spliced from the surprisingly little content Hill had made.

Unlike most TV shows, The Benny Hill Show only had two to four episodes produced per year. Some of the reasons included the fact that 1) it was expensive to produce and 2) Hill wrote the whole show himself. He loved to work things out independently and writers would do nothing but, in comedy terms, "feed crumbs to the bear".

Despite writing the show's script and songs himself, Hill did have his sidekicks. Usually while singing his beginning ballad, he had the popular British singing trio The Ladybirds accompany him. In almost all of his sketches, Hill was surrounded by beautiful women while he would use their lady bits for his comic fodder. However, he did have his male sidekicks, such as Nicolas Parsons, Henry McGee, Bob Todd, Jon Jon Keefe and probably his best-known male sidekick, Jackie Wright, who was famous for his short stature and the fact that Benny often patted his bald head in some of his sketches.

But what might have brought the most attention to The Benny Hill Show was its women, especially the Hill's Angels, which made their debut in the late 70's. Their risque dance moves, usually set to disco music brought some major sex appeal to Hill's show and helped maintain its edge with younger viewers.

However, many political groups attacked Hill in the 1980's for not doing enough to tone down the show's sexy content. He would even try to please these groups by toning down the Hill's Angels dance routines and even getting a new troupe: Hill's Little Angels, which basically comprised of the show's crewmembers' children.

Sadly, it was too late. In 1989, Thames told Benny that because of dwindling viewers and rising production costs, The Benny Hill Show would cease to exist. After 20 years on the air, but only 58 episodes, Benny felt like he had lost his wife.

Benny was now 65 years old, but never married, nor had children. He did a special for American TV, Benny Hill's World Tour: New York that aired on the USA Network in 1991, but the huge gap of no work made Benny depressed. He suffered a heart attack in early 1992, and doctors wanted him to have bypass surgery, but declined. However, just a few months later, Benny's friends tried to call him but with no answer. One of his former castmembers, Nicholas Parsons, climbed a ladder to his apartment, smashed a window and saw the inevitable: Benny's corpse in his chair in front of the TV. He kissed him on the cheek and told him "I love you". Doctors ruled Benny's death as a massive heart attack.

When Benny died, he had a fortune of over $20 million, but despite his wealth, he lived in a tiny apartment, never owned a car and did his own shopping. Since he never married nor had children, most of Benny's fortune went to his nieces and nephews. However, his fans were pretty much his family. One of his favorite moments just before he died was when the children of Charlie Chaplin invited Benny to visit his private study, and to his shock, found old tapes of his shows. While in the hospital after his first heart attack, one of his visitors was none other than Michael Jackson, who was a fan of his for years.

Twenty years after his passing, Benny still has his fans: Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Snoop Dogg and even yours truly. Personally, I never even heard of Benny before he died, but when Comedy Central started showing repeats of old Hill shows in the early 90's, I was hooked, especially with his silent sketches.

Today, Antenna TV - a classic TV and movie channel owned by Tribune that they usually carry on their .2 channels - is the home of The Benny Hill Show, even though they tragically recently demoted the show to 4 a.m. Saturday nights/Sunday mornings (SHAME!). Plus, they're reedited 30 minute shows; I wish they showed the whole show like Comedy Central did in the 90's. Oh, well, you can't have it all.

After all these years, Benny Hill is still loved by millions around the world. It would be kinda cool to see what it would be like if he were still around, chasing little lassies around. Then again, he played a ton of old men in his sketches, so maybe it may or may not be possible. But also, then again, one of my favorite sketches of his involved him as an old man playing strip poker with a nurse. When he found out that he had a royal flush and she was down to her bra and panties, Benny has a heart attack, has his funeral and his soul ascends to the heavens.

Maybe that's how Benny wanted to go after all.

4.23.12 Bee-otch of the Day: Matt Hanlon (and The Grand Rapids Press)

Name: Matt Hanlon

Occupation: none
Last Seen: Grand Rapids, MI
Bee-otched For: really, REALLY fucking up

---

FINALLY! The Grand Rapids media is touching on former Citadel regional VP/GM and Townsquare SVP ad sales Matt Hanlon's recent fuck-up.

On Friday, The Grand Rapids Press ran a story on his recent arrest and added detail to what exactly happened. Needless to say, it's anything but pretty.

On April 6th, Hanlon was arrested after his Range Rover collided with a Saab driven by 47-year-old Srinivas Voruganti, also of Grand Rapids. His 44-year-old wife, Saritha was his passenger and both were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The accident occurred at 2:14 p.m. while Hanlon was attempting to turn left into the D&W Food Center at Knapp and East Beltline when his SUV collided with Vorugnati's car. Thankfully, the couple's injuries were minor, but Hanlon wasn't so lucky.

He was taken to the police station where he blew a .14 on the breathalyzer test, nearly twice the state of Michigan's legal limit. He was later released from the county jail on a whopping $100 bond. Hanlon was scheduled to appear in court last Friday but waived his appearance because his lawyer, Henry Emrich entered a not guilty plea in a mailed statement, which the court allowed.

According to police, Hanlon told them that the other driver was speeding, which might have led to his not guilty plead.

Let me tell you something, Chuckamaniacs, two years ago, I got myself into a car accident right in front of my house. I live on an avenue with four lanes each side. I looked to the left, and there were two SUVs turning right, and nothing to the right. I looked again, same thing, so I made a left turn. Suddenly, out of nowhere, another car came out of nowhere and slammed into my left front end. Sadly, my car was a total loss, especially since it was an older vehicle. Even worse, I couldn't see the woman's car both times I looked to the left; she was in a blind spot each time. The police came, they assessed the situation, and found me at fault. I told the officer that I thought that she was driving too fast, and guessed what he told me? "Well, she had the right of way."

Oh, and my BAC? 0.0. However, I was fighting some major allergy problems, which might have affected my train of thought.

IMO, I think Hanlon fucked up. A .14 and crying that the other driver was going too fast will land him in the slammer. Plus, bear in mind that the East Beltline is one of the most-congested arteries in Grand Rapids and driving drunk on that road during the day is, well, a bad idea.

Of course, Hanlon should be lucky that neither of the two people were killed in the accident, or else he'd be in jail. Although he'll probably be ending up taking a bus to work for a whil- er, oops! He's now without a job! Plus, he'll be paying his attorney a ton of dough, plus fines up the ass. It might be a great payback for a man who screwed over Stern fans, rock fans and even his now former employees. So much for trying to kiss the Dutch and Chamber of Commerce's asses.

Oh, and a major FUCK YOU to The Grand Rapids Press for 1) waiting TWO WEEKS to publish this story and 2) erasing my post in the comments section regarding how fucked up Hanlon was. Hell, I'm shocked that the people on the BUZZBOARD loved my post (and they'll be happy to know that I've grown mentally since my last post on there five years ago... I think...)! But, that's the way they are. Their excuse was that they were worried that it wasn't "newsworthy enough". BULLSHIT. Hanlon's a VERY public figure in the Grand Rapids area since he was one of the area's top radio execs and was an icon, mainly for all the wrong reasons. I almost chuckle knowing that the Press and their sister papers in Flint/Tri Cities aren't doing so hot. Sucks to be them. If I see one of their people begging me to subscribe to their little shit paper, I'll just walk away.

In the end, I hope Hanlon's bottoming out will make him a better person. If I hear an honest and humble apology from him for screwing over his listeners and employees, I might be open to him. Sometimes, somebody needs to hit rock bottom for them to understand what they did wrong. Will an "I'm sorry" be acceptable for the damage he did? We'll see. But it's not going to bring KLQ, Stern, Mark "The Head" Feurie, Bill Walters, Cristi Cantle, Tim Barron or Rich Michaels back onto the west Michigan airwaves. The damage is well beyond repair.

Riding off into the sunset and disappearing for good would be more appropriate. Of course, his poor wife Debbi would have to do the driving.

A SPECIAL HERO OF THE DAY!

Name: Richard Wagstaff Clark
Age: was 82
Occupation: entertainer and emcee
Last Seen: Long Beach, CA
Awarded For: being one of the best friends rock and pop music ever had

---

Just imagine if we never had Dick Clark.

True, we wouldn't have Justin Bieber and the Top 40 music format playing crappy pop music 24/7, but we probably wouldn't have rock stations, either. Small town America probably wouldn't be exposed to Motown, Chubby Checker or even Elvis. For many, American Bandstand was the Bible of Rock 'N Roll for teens in the late 50's and early 60's as they were getting out of school. The show kept sailing on throughout the 60's and well into the 80's until MTV took its audience away.

True, Clark wasn't Bandstand's first host. He came on in 1956 when its former host was fired for drunk driving. ABC loved the show so much that it went national in 1957 from its studios at WFIL-TV in Philadelphia. Dick had a pure, natural style that made the oft-raucous rock music acceptable in middle America. Thanks to Clark and AB, small towns that didn't even have a top 40 station at the time at least had one hour to know what the kids in the rest of the country were listening to.

Yes, Clark wasn't without controversy. In the late 1950's, he barely survived the payola scandal. He also urged viewers to mailbomb the ABC affiliate in Ada, OK, KTEN, for threatening to cancel AB over its content. In the end, there were more letters sent to KTEN than the actual population of Ada, which is 16,000. Even in the late 60's, the show started to slip in the ratings since Clark tried to avoid questionable acts. Michael Moore even grilled him in his 2002 documentary Bowling For Columbine because one of his employees at his American Bandstand Grills near Detroit was the mother of a five-year-old boy who killed a five-year-old girl at his school, and she was working 80 hours making minimum wage. But in the end, Clark proved that he could weather any storm, any time, just not MTV.

When MTV was introduced in 1981, AB would show a video or two on many shows. But it was that network that sealed its fate in 1989 after 32 years on national TV. But, Dick proved to be more than just a music emcee. He hosted many the many financial denominations of Pyramid and hosted many blooper shows with Ed McMahon in the 80's. But it was his infamous New Years' Rockin' Eve that kept Clark going at least once per year. To many, it just wasn't New Years without him.

Of course, it was a stroke triggered by Type II Diabetes that fell Clark for a year, and when he came back in 2006, his fans were shocked to hear him having difficulty talking. Even though Clark received much ridicule from Howard Stern and his many clones, Clark wanted to show the world that he wanted to entertain, disability or not.

And it was Stern that Clark did have a liking to. In 2004, he told Larry King that yes, if people liked Howard, they had the right to listen to his show. If they didn't like it, there was the dial. Since Clark had his issues with conservatives and pundits, He felt that he should help others with their problems.

Clark died Wednesday from a massive heart attack at 82. Many celebs Tweeted and commented on his passing, including Tinker Bell himself, Ryan Seacrest, who will probably now host New Years' Rockin' Eve solo. Other celeb well-wishers included Mariah Carey, Donna Summer (who actually hosted an AB episode in 1978), Snoop Dogg and even the current management of Soul Train. In 1973, Clark produced a controversial rip-off of that show called Soul Unlimited that caused Soul Train crator and host Don Cornelius to call foul since it was produced by a white man. Needless to say, Clark canned the show, especially due to poor ratings.

In the end, Dick was a man who loved to teach the world to sing and to rock. He broke many barriers and pushed envelopes and helped make the unacceptable acceptable. Sadly, only 883 out of some 3,000 episodes ofBandstand still exist, but there's still plenty of Dick Clark to love.

Thanks, Dick. So long to you.

You know, many great things are associated with Michigan. This is the state that gave the world the automobile, furniture, cherries, Short's Beer and Madonna.

But sadly, Michigan does have a few bad things that have come from here, and Ted Nugent's one of them.

OK, so Uncle Ted's a great musician. Hell, I actually went to one of his concerts (for free, I might add). Thinking back, it was one of the worst shows I ever saw, especially when he lovingly dedicated the song "Kiss My Ass" to President Clinton. But since he loves his guns and his bows and arrows, he's for making sure that We the People still have a right to shoot at a kid in a hoodie armed with iced tea and Skittles.

In the video posted above, Teddy Bear is at an NRA convention, kissing Mitt Romney's ass and telling the world that Obama and his administration hates America and hates the Constitution and that we're going to be a suburb of Indonesia this time next year if Obama's reelected.

He also mentioned that Obama's head be cut off. Now, that's not nice.

Of course, Nuge isn't afraid to stand for right-winged politicians who are pro-gun since after all, like George Zimmerman, he probably yells "HE'S COMIN' RIGHT TOWARDS US!" before he shoots. Then again, he probably gets a chuckle knowing that Willard even forced the family dog to ride on top of his car on a family road trip.

But the question is, why does the right LOVE Ted? Aren't these people pro-family values? Bear in mind that this is the same Ted Nugent who wrote such songs as "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" and his signature "Cat Scratch Fever" whose third stanza begins with "I feel a pussy purr with a stroke of my hand". Mind you, these morons have been trying their damndest to shut down the adult entertainment industry for decades to no avail. Yes, they've taken away our strip clubs in Grand Rapids, but at least I can still jerk off to the internet.

If there's a big hypocrite out there, it's Ted Nugent. A man who sings the praises of family values and pussy all in one breath. I think that even under Obama, people like Ted will still have gun rights. True, if he wants to kill Bambi with an Uzi, he'll have to think again, but as long as he abides by the laws that keep us safe, both liberals and conservatives will be A-OK.

But maybe we should keep gun laws intact to fight the Jebus freaks that want to take my porn away.

Ladies and gents, you get what you vote.

Yesterday, the senate voted on a bill called "The Buffett Rule" that would force a 30% minimum tax on millionaires and above. Right now, many of those making more than a million dollars per year are paying less taxes than those making $20,000 per year, give or take.

And yes, the bill was shot down.

Despite 51 yays and 45 nays, the bill needed 60 yays to continue debating. However, the bill might be back on the floor come election time. President Obama denounced the vote, claiming that Republicans once again chose giving the wealthiest Americans the biggest tax breaks ever versus helping to protect the middle class. He also urged Congress to help protect the middle class, but that might end up on deaf ears since they're mostly run by Republicans.

Only one Republican voted with the Democrats, Maine senator Susan Collins. Meanwhile, Arizona's Jon Kyl claimed that raising taxes on the rich would do nothing to lower gas prices or even create jobs.

The Buffett Rule was named after Warren Buffett, the second-richest man in America. The Berkshire Hathaway head (i.e. the owner of GEICO Insurance, Dairy Queen and others) proclaimed that his own secretary pays more in taxes than he does and wanted America to go back to a system where the rich paid more in taxes. Trust me, higher taxes on the wealthy WORKS! Back 50 years ago, the richest people in America paid a 90% tax rate and they didn't complain. Americans had jobs and we were heading in the right direction. Thanks to years of Republicans and their pro-rich stances, unemployment is still high, gas prices are still high and people complain about Obama not doing anything, even though the people who point the finger at him only make things worse by voting for pro-rich GOP assholes.

Like it or not, this is one reason why I'm giving Obama a second term. The GOP will do anything to hold Americans back, and it's not working. We suffered through eight long, grueling years of Bush, and it's time that we moved on. I see good changes, and a lot of it's because of Obama. Yes, he's not perfect, but he did more in one month as president than Bush did in eight.

So, GOP, tell us about how you caught Osama...

Bee-otched For: ignoring Matt Hanlon's fall from grace

---

Yes, even Bob Ross enjoyed painting Hanlon's mugshot; I hope he gets some happy trees in there.

Last week, several media message boards and this very website was abuzz with the rise and fall of the once great Matt Hanlon, the former Midwest Manager and GM of Citadel's radio stations in Grand Rapids. If you've been hiding under a rock, the man responsible for the demise of KLQ and many great jocks like Bill Walters and Rich Michaels was fired from WGRD owner Townsquare Media for being arrested for drunk driving and possible illegal drug possession.

Hanlon was clearly a big media personality here in west Michigan, especially with his involvement with many community organizations, the creation of the New Years' Ball Drop in downtown Grand Rapids and was a regular on his beloved pet "Huge" Bill Simonson's show. True, he had some fans, but overall, he might have been the biggest dick in Grand Rapids broadcasting history.

So, the billion dollar question is, why is the west Michigan media ignoring this story?
Seriously! Type in Hanlon's name in Google and the top result is the kiss-ass POS The Grand Rapids Press ran on him a few years ago. As a matter of fact, the closest thing to Hanlon getting busted and fired on that same page leads to this very Chuck69.com. Plus, our Blogspot site's been quite active this past week; his Bee-otch of the Day award entry is now the third-most-viewed story on that site ever since I started it in 2009. I'll betcha by the end of the week, that entry will be the most-viewed entry of all time and Hanlon will end up being the Bee-otch of the Year.

So why is the media passing on Hanlon's rise and fall? The good lord only knows. Maybe his tongue was so far up their anuses for so long that it just didn't matter. Even the radio trade sites have been ignorant on Hanlon's dismissal except the fact that he's gone from Townsquare for "reasons unknown".

But, as a free and independent website that takes no money from the local media, this is what you get: the truth. Matt Hanlon is an unlikable pig who fired quality jocks, hired has-beens, lead a company into bankruptcy and is a big junkie. I'm hoping that he's not paying the media to shut up only to make his resume sound good. But, it's too late. If he ends up a DJ in Traverse City, he'll be lucky.

C'mon, media! We need the truth!
