C'mon, 2018! Hurry up!
Sadly, we got three more years of the hijinks of the turd known as pRick Snyder. It's becoming more and more clear that he doesn't give two fucking shits about the middle class or black people. Case in point: the new legislation he signed yesterday.
Until yesterday, Michigan was only one of ten states that allowed voters to use straight ticket voting. That's when a voter can automatically vote for everybody in the same party. For example: instead of voting for each individual column, voters could only check on Democrat, Republican, Green and whatever party they choose, which usually caused them to vote faster. However, Snyder got rid of the straight ticket vote option, claiming that voters need to know the people they're voting for.
However, many - like myself - believe that this is an attempt by Snyder and others in the Republican party to make it tougher to vote, especially in highly-populated Democratic strongholds like Detroit. In that city and others, lines to the polls have been traditionally long, inconveniencing many potential voters. In many cases, people simply don't vote - especially Democrats - who all cry that the Republican candidate is going to win as-is.
For years, the Republicans simply have tried to screw over the black crowd with a lack of voting centers in highly-populated areas and stupid ID laws that have prevented many from voting. And many of them are Democrats. With the horrific abuse that he and his minions have done to Flint's drinking water, it makes me think that Snyder is a fucking racist and will do anything for his fellow one percenters like the Devos family.
But hey! Don't look at me! I braved a not-so-long line thanks to the lack of voter turnout in 2014 and voted straight ticket Democrat.
