Just because we've had a new president for almost four years, it doesn't solve every problem in the world.

With the world ready to jump off the Fiscal cliff in the next few days, give or take, we all know that Obama sure as hell don't want to restore Dubya's tax cuts for another several more years. On Fox News Sunday, John Boehner even proclaimed that the president would use any surplus for more spending.

Now that America has spoken for the Democrats once again, it's a pathetic shame that there's still several members of the GOP who won't get out of their old ways and face the sad truth: America is still in need of jobs and even with more taxes for the wealthy, it actually could mean more good for creating jobs and best of all, balancing the budget, something that the GOP hasn't been able to do since the days of Eisenhower.

But there's a growing concern amongst many Americans, and it's the fact that panhandling is on the rise. Last week, my local NBC affiliate, WOOD-TV 8 aired a news story about the growing concern. Drive around Grand Rapids, and there's people holding up signs begging for change. Many of the beggars are indeed living day-to-day, and some are indeed homeless. One of the hottest spots for beggars is the entrance to the Costco in Cascade. I swear, every time I drive out there, there's a beggar holding a sign.

A few weeks ago when I was coming home from Kentucky, I stopped at the White Castle in Anderson, IN, and right at the I-69 ramp, there was a black woman holding a sign. I'll betcha that neither Grand Rapids or even Anderson are the only towns in America where there's people out on the street begging.

I grew up in northern Michigan, and there, I never saw a beggar. Yes, there's homeless people up north; as a matter of fact, there was a homeless kid on my rural bus route to school at times. I remember as a kid my mother driving me through Detroit and there were lots of beggars, and even a guy who cleaned our windshield.

Honestly, I think that a lot of the beggars on the street can be employed. But gee, we got stuck with a dumbass like Reagan who severely cut school funding in the 80's, and so did the two Bushes. Plus, we're sending too much of our work overseas instead of here all in the name of higher CEO salaries for people who barely pay taxes.

Folks, this is gotta stop. The GOP needs to realize that they've lost and that we need jobs, not asskissing to the rich. We need to get people off the streets and back to work. It's time to cut CEO salaries and give the money back to us. America has spoken. Tax cuts to the wealthy never work.

Maybe I oughta get a huge cardboard sign. Some people make more than I make standing at the corner.
