Today in front of the White House, Drumpf was pretending that he just won the Super Bowl, or at least won the NFC or AFC championship.
The House voted today 217-213 to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. The bill now goes to the Senate, where it will face challenges from moderate Republicans who might vote down the bill. Nonetheless, Drumpf and Mike Pence were on the White House lawn feeling good about the ACA repeal.
Of course, some applaud the American Health Care Act for allowing those under 26 to stay on their parents' plan and not making health insurance mandatory like ACA. However, it freezes Medicare expansion and screws over those with pre-existing conditions. This is why most of us ACA allies are hoping that the moderates in the Senate will listen and vote off this bill.
While Drumpf is claiming victory, it's not over yet and the battle continues. Americans want to keep Obamacare, especially since the new plan tends to benefit young, healthy people and those with lots of money while it hurts those who need healthcare most, especially older people.
Folks, Repukes and healthcare don't mix. When Dubya was president, my shop switched over to a health savings account plan. I ended up collapsing at Chicago O'Hare Airport. I ended up being rushed to the hospital where they determined that my potassium level was low. My bills totaled $3000 and my crappy plan didn't help much. It might be OK for doctor visits and such, but it's the Repukes' way of telling people that it's our fault for not taking care of ourselves.
It's sad that other nations on Earth have better healthcare than us, and because of Drumpf and his cronies, we're taking too many steps back. Then again, he lost by three million votes and hopefully, he'll be out in 2020.
Don't look at me, I didn't vote for the guy.
