---This past week, a new political ad started appearing on Michigan TV.
Yes, a political ad months after the lopsided election that now has both houses for the Republicans and another four years with the Stuffed Turd as our state's governor. This time, it's about a topic that is near and dear to our hearts: our crumbling roads.
In this new ad, a mother talks about how she's scared to drive her children because the overpasses are being protected with plywood and it's supposed to protect the vehicles from the concrete and blah blah blah. She's saying that she's voting for Proposal 1 in May because she believes that the roads would be safer.
Under Prop 1, Michigan's sales tax would increase from 6 to 7%. Snyder also champions raising gas taxes, even though our state has one of the highest gas taxes in the country.
Ummmm, isn't there a better way of fixing our roads? You know, like raising taxes on the state's wealthy? Oh, no! That will never happen, especially now that pRick Snyder will remain governor for another four years.
Look at Minnesota: that state's governor, Mark Dayton raised taxes on the wealthy despite the fact that he is rich himself (he's an heir to Target). Because of him, the state's economy is awesome. Michigan? Well, we're stuck with the Turd and the only businesses coming to town are all lower-paying retail jobs.
You see, this state has a lot of wealthy people: Meijer, Stryker, Ilitch, Gilbert, Devos.... Wait a minute: I know why there's this stupid proposal, and it's so the Devoses won't have to see their taxes go up! After all, THEY'RE the ones running Michigan and Snyder is their puppet. Remember, Dick Devos even mentioned that Michigan's Right to Work laws were his idea.
It reminds me several years ago when I was broke and I was resorting to selling some items on CraigsList. I got an email from a lady who told me that if my items didn't sell, that I should donate them to an auction that would support the Helen Devos Children's Hospital. REALLY?!?! Here I am broke off my ass and I should donate my stuff to support a goddamned hospital named for a woman who never worked a day in her life. *Insert facepalm here* Let alone a family who was successfully sued for $20 million for scamming people into thinking that Proctor and Gamble is Satanic plus the fact that they have a family member by marriage who created the Blackwater/XE mess.
Folks, I don't give two flying fucks, but will NOT vote on Prop 1 in May. I shouldn't have to stretch my budget even more so the Devoses can buy another car dealership or dump more money into Wrigley Field (and yes, the Cubs suck). Anybody who voted for Snyder is an asshole for doing so and anybody who supported Mark Schauer but didn't vote for him is an even bigger asshole. We cannot afford four more years of Snyder and Devos fucking up our state while the middle class suffers.
If the Mackinac Bridge collapses by 2019, it'll be Snyder's fault.
